The entire experience from design, obtaining samples, ordering, shipping and delivery, installation, and support were outstanding! I especially want to compliment Bev Piette, Shoji Specialist / Design Consultant who was very responsive to all our inquiry's and served as a vital POC through the entire process! The installed Shoji screens are of the highest quality and are the show case of our Master Bathroom/Spa remodel project!!!!

Wonderful customer service, great design of website, beautiful shoji doors, shipped with secure packing, easily installed and very smooth operating. No complaints at all.

Unique product and excellent service

We were installing Shoji screen in an unusual spot that was actually quite complicated in terms of placement, valances and opening direction, etc. After a lot of research and conversations with many builders of shoji screens we went with Cherry Tree for a number of reasons. To sum those reasons up: it's a fairly big investment to order something so custom online but Beverly was incredibly helpful, patient and very responsive through the process from consideration to planning to purchase. The screens showed up and they are impeccably crafted, look beautiful and transformed the look of a rather dreary room into something stunning. Their work is like fine furniture.

If you're putting in shoji screens I would put Cherry Tree at the top of the list.

These are the most beautiful and well made shoji screens I've ever seen. Bev, the sales person, was extremely helpful with the design and measurements. The doors arrived on schedule. SO HAPPY!!!

I was impressed by the whole process. The website was very helpful. I had a question and was quickly helped via email and phone. After the order, I got a call to confirm everything was correct. Shipment came on time, well packed. Everything was in perfect order, we installed it and it looks even better than I anticipated. Cant say anything negative. It was definitely 5 starts.

My doors are beautiful, and the quality is more than you could ask for. One suggestion I have if you are building an opening to support the doors is to ask the exact vertical dimension that the opening should be. (The horizontal dimension is very easy to figure). But you need to ask the vertical dimension so your contractor knows exactly the height to make the supporting header, and the thickness of the base track to request.. Once that is known, you can easily mount the top and bottom tracks inside that opening.

I would have given Cherry Tree Design five stars except for the way they handled one issue that was VERY importanty to me. From the start, I was clear that I required totally opaque screens. After they were installed, it became apparent that they were not opaque. I paid an upcharge and was assured they would be opaque. After sending a picture showing the light clearly coming through, I was told "yes, it is very apparent and we have never had this complaint before". Their solution is that I need to unscrew the frames of the screens and add another layer of backing which they supplied to me. Either my contractor or I will have to do this. I think this looks much harder to to than I am capable of doing. My contractor has not been able to come back yet to attempt this fix. Cherry Tree has not offered me a refuund of my upcharge or any compensation for the labor cost involved in fixing what was their job from the very start. A very disappointing ending (still ongoing) to an otherwise wonderful process. Too Bad.

The folks at Cherry Tree Design quickly assessed my needs and helped me design Shoji doors for my master bedroom/bathroom. The two large sliding doors make the space look elegant and help finish the new look of the renovated space. There are many great options, styles and colors from which to choose that will make any space look amazing. They were easy to install as well. I was very impressed from start to finish!

I had an absolutely top notch experience with Cherry Tree. We recently ordered a custom made sliding shoji door. The entire experience far exceeded my expectations. Bev was an absolute pleasure to work with throughout the process. She is extremely thorough and detail oriented and a great communicator. She worked closely with us to design the door and was very patient as we had a little bit of back and forth with finalizing the order. The door was shipped within the predicted time frame. There was some minor damage from the shipping so my only feedback there is that they could have packaged it a little bit better. After the door was installed we realized that the included floor mounted bypass guide was insufficient. We wrote to Bev and she immediately replied with the perfect solution which was to send us (free of charge) a new floor guide made of wood matching the door. The door itself is constructed with very high quality materials including solid wood, excellent finish, and precisely cut to our specifications. I would highly recommend Cherry Tree and will definitely be calling them for our future custom door needs.

We are absolutely thrilled with Cherry Tree Design. We have been using shoji's from Cherry Tree Design for over 10 years now - we first used them in our previous house and used them again in our current house. Cherry Tree Design products, processes, and services are top notch. We are so impressed with their consistently high quality products and services. We were very happy with the entire process, from choosing the door, to designing the door for our dimensions and then to finally installing our door.

Assembly went smoothly except kick panel was .06 inches too high but I could fortunately trim the excess since it was a concealed cut. More thought needs to be put into the valance end caps. Only one mitered end was provided on our custom order. I am to miter the other end plus the two end caps. For anyone except a very well-equipped finish carpenter the average DIY'er will find it impossible to miter the extremely hard, tight grained bamboo without special tools. I didn't do a great job joining the mitered corners and it ruins the effect of the rest of the precision product. No end caps for the extruded aluminum rail are provide so an adhesive has to be applied by the user. I suggest that Cherry Tree Design provide pre-mitered end caps, miters at both ends of the facia piece and leave only one simple square cut for the installer.

There some challenges to lay out the shoji doors and it took several iterations with liberal input from Tor who was as patient as clam with excessive questions time and time again but who helped to tease out the final details and revise the shop drawings as needed. It was a pleasure to go through this process with you guys, because on occasion I did have the opportunity to engage with others in the office and the professionalism is tight, authentic and genuine.
As an aside, I think Tor is one of the coolest names I have known to exist :)

The quality of the final product is truly second to none. My over all experience with this company is very positive, good communication,shipped on time,quality product, well written installation guides and packaging to withstand trucking handling and securing the product. My only issue was with the trucking co, Cherry Tree puts warning stickers all over the crate stating no fork lift, well my crate was indeed no match for one of the forks, went right through. When I informed Cherry Tree of the issue they discussed all the options with me. I chose to do the repair, Cherry Tree sent all the precision crafted parts needed to do the repair. The repair went very smooth and fast, the installed doors look fantastic. If you are reading this because you are considering the purchase of doors from Cherry Tree, I can say based on my experience, you will be happy you did. Even with the shipping damage issue, I am 100% satisfied with the end results.

Bev is friendly, knowledgeable & responsive. She patiently answered all my questions and guided me through numerous options & ideas.

After panels were finished, they were professionally packed in a custom crate and arrived in Honolulu, Hawaii safe and sound.

The panels themselves are beautiful! They artistically separate our living room from office/study area, and most common comment when people see them is "Wow!".

I think my Shoji wall changes the whole house in a tangible and positive way. I have always loved Japanese culture and now I have it with me everyday. The change in ambiance due to the cherry tree order we placed and installed makes a huge difference for my parents. I wanted to change from mirrors throughout our unit and now it's so zen!

The doors were easier to assemble than we originally thought they would be. They look really good in the space. The materials were packed to prevent damage. The only problem I experienced had nothing to do with the doors. I would recommend that when the delivery company schedules your delivery call back the same day to confirm. No one wrote down our delivery and we had to wait almost another week to get the doors delivered. The instructions, tools, and doors were perfect!

The quality of the doors built by Cherry Tree is top notch, their customer service is excellent, and their ability to custom build exactly what I wanted was perfect. I am very satisfied with the entire process and the final product. Thank you Cherry Tree team.
