Not an Artisan Company!
Not an Artisan Company!
I bought two bee hotels--one for my mom and one for me--after reading the story of Dot Callaway's lengthy research process to make the perfect, handwoven bee hotel. I don't know what AI program wrote that, but they did an excellent job.
There is no Dot Callaway. When I did a Google image search with her AI-generated headshot, I found a German and Dutch version of the CraftFolk website, where Dot is 64 (not 75) and named Margret Holzen. Well done, China. You got me good! At least now I can help my college students practice better research skills!
SCAM site. Cheap look alike products sold
Did not get the product I ordered at all! Super cheap moldy cardboard product received, not woth a couple of dollars, let alone a 100. Do not buy anything from this site!
I ordered handmade ceramic bee flowers…
I ordered handmade ceramic bee flowers alledgly made by Dorothy, even showed her picture on the website. What I received was cheap ugly resin bee flowers that didn't come close to the images on the website. Seems it's all fake and the copy address is Hong Kong. Suggust anyone considering ordering from this site to just say no.
This company is fraudulent
This company is fraudulent. Item looks nothing like it is portrayed. Looks like elementary school children made it NOT some artisans. I can send it (back to China!)but how much will that cost!?!
Do not fall for the sweet article about how the artist is closing out her shop and there are only a few 'BeeCups' left! DO NOT BUY ANYTHING FROM THIS COMPANY
I liked the bee hotel
I liked the bee hotel, the story behind it and the thought that went into it. I ordered the 2 for $80.00 deal and anxiously waited. The shipping was not trackable and took very long. Finally it arrived, from Hong Kong ! They look like something a 3rd grader might make for a Mothers day gift. The exterior is not woven its pine that is stapled together and the bamboo is splintery. I fell for the nice story and got burned. And burn is probably what I will do with this junk. Lesson leared !
I smell a scam
I saw ads for bee flowers - ceramic, handcrafted in Shrewsbury England. Last chance to buy as Dot was moving! I suspected a scam and the reviews indicate I was correct so I did not buy. Keepaway.
Dot's handmade garbage
I'd have to agree with all the others. The product doesn't look like what they advertised. Was supposed to be pretty glazed flowers on a metal stake for the garden. I received crappy ugly resin flower that read cups for bees with fat stumps as stems very strong paint smell when box was opened. Very disappointed!
Don't trust craft folk site not what they claim.
Craft-folk.com is a scam
Like others here, I ordered Dot’s bee blossoms which were advertised as handmade, ceramic, etc. What I received were ugly resin flowers with little signs attached and no stakes. The cost for shipping this garbage back to Hong Kong was way more than my refund so I’m keeping them. Sent them a scathing email criticizing their product and business practices and they offered me a 30% refund without returning what they sent. I declined that too because I don’t want them dealing with my credit card again. It appears that they use their ill-gotten gains to build and maintain a good looking website. They probably write all their bogus reviews too.
I have to agree with other reviews of…
I have to agree with other reviews of Dot's Bee Blossoms. Just received and they are not handmade, not pottery, do not look like what was displayed, didn't have stakes, and now I have to return to Hong Kong although supposedly made in North Carolina. Chalk this up to BUYER BEWARE. I'm going to return and hope I will be refunded and not just throwing more money away.
Craft Folk Definitely not Made in US
Just received my order for Dot's Handmade Bee Blossoms and should've looked it up beforehand, but the story was very compelling. I just got done emailing for a refund and included pics of what the website shows vs. what I received. Wish I could include them here. I got what look like resin, mass-produced stumpy, flowers with a sign on each saying "cups for bee". No stakes. Look like something a 1st grader would give to their mother for Mother's Day. I hope they don't say I can't return because they were on sale, and hope I don't have to pay for return shipping to Guangzhou City, Guangdong Province
Don't do it
Don't do it. They aren't who they say they are and the products don't match the image/ description. The email on their website doesn't work and they don't give you a return shipping label even though that's what the website says they'll do! I'm waiting on a PayPal claim.
I was also scammed
I was also scammed. Received mass produced made in China junk, not hand crafted US made by an artisan. Wish I had Googled first. Disappointed
The bee story is fraudulent---so are the products
They stole the name, Dorothy Calloway, from someone who lived in Weaverville, NC but who died in 2008. (obituary is on the web) She is not 75 years old. She is not working on her last bee boxes, due to essential tremor. She does not have a daughter named Claire, who, after you have bought this thing, sends an email saying her mom lit up when she told her about your purchase, and then goes on to try to sell you ceramic flowers. And the sign note on the ordering page, saying there are only 10 left is also B.S.
And their BIG graphic showing a Trustpilot rating of 4.7 out of 5, with nice quotes from various "people" is also false.
Dot's Handmade Bee Blossoms--it's not what they advertised
I ordered Dot's Handmade Bee Blossoms. The product I received was not the product featured on the website plus the order was incomplete. I wrote to them to return the item. They will accept a return, but the return address is HONG KONG. I have lodged a complaint with my credit card company.
Fake Products
I, like several others here, had purchased Dot's Handmade Bee Blossoms (compelling story, attractive product). First sign something was amiss was when I received my package of 4 bee blossoms. The industrial paint smell out of the box was overwhelming. That and the fact the blossom look NOTHING like what's shown on the site. The blossoms received have stems, are very amateur for a hand-made item and they're painted instead of having a fired finish. Very disappointing that their refund policy has me shipping to Guangzhou, China, instead of somewhere domestically.
This is a scam company
This is a scam company. They advertised handmade Bee flowers made in the USA. The items arrived and they are from China and they are not handmade they are junky plastic products. Nothing at all like the pictures they show online. Do not buy from them!
Fraudulent website (at least for Dot's Homemade Bee Blossoms)
Seller isn't honest. My order of "Dots Handmade Bee Blossoms" was supposed to be for handmade ceramic blossoms made in North Carolina by Dot. Instead they shipped ugly plastic "blossoms" which look like cheap mass produced imports. Seller was insisting I ship these back to Hong Kong if I want a refund; "Julia" finally "offered" a 50% PayPal refund without returning the items. I believe they fraudulently and intentionally shipped improper items so I shouldn't incur any cost, or at least I could ship them to the Florida location which forwarded the package to me instead of an international shipment to Hong Kong. BUYERS BEWARE!!!
I was also SCAMMED by them
I was also SCAMMED by them. The bee cups are NOT ceramic, not as pictured, no stakes, flimsy boxes crushed in a shipping bag. Didn't do my homework: Dot Calloway passed away in 2008, her details stolen from the obituary. Money back only if you return ship to China. TOTAL SCAM
After reading Dot’s long story about…
After reading Dot’s long story about her pottery in North Carolina, I ordered the hand-made Bee Blossoms. I then read all of the scathing reviews of this product and attempted to cancel my order. The “contact us”phone number on the website is in Hong Kong, China. When I called the number it was automatically picked up but no one was actually on the line. I then emailed them to cancel my order and refund my charge. I will now have to contact PayPal and my credit card company. Returning these items would most likely cost more than the item cost, so that is really not an option. Do not order these! Along the same lines, I would not order the butterfly houses , the bird houses, or anything this website is selling. I think it’s all coming from China - not from North Carolina crafts people. You would be receiving cheaply made items of poor quality that would require you to ship back to China at your expense. This website has long stories about birds , butterflies, and wonderful long-time crafts people who are retiring or moving and just selling their last handmade items. Don’t believe it word of it!!!
SCAM! Huge letdown
SCAM as all the others have said. I bought "Dot's handmade blossoms from NC", which are not! Same thing on TEMU (which I don't buy anything from) for less than half the price! How are they allowed to operate with totally false advertising?
