AGEISM

Today I requested a quote for comprehensive car insurance and a lady phoned back and asked 2 questions one of which was had I made a claim to which I replied yes ( a minor bump) to which she said as you've had a claim and are over 70 we can't quote that's ridiculous in fact AGEISM.
She never asked details of the claim. Not good business practice, be AWARE.

Unacceptable Treatment by NFU

This is most definitely NOT the Company that they make themselves out to be or market themselves as. When you read about my experience you will probably want to look for an alternative insurer.

This has been my experience and NFU have been both ignorant and arrogant to the point of contemptuous.

We were paying £291 per month to insure my late father’s home. The property was empty which was obviously declared. During the cold spell I made my weekly visit on 5th Jan of this year.

The cold water tank had burst and the water had caused considerable damage and run through the ceiling above the bedroom and brought down the kitchen ceiling below. Water had leached onto the adjoining landing and carpets.

I telephoned NFU straight away and they appointed Crawfords loss adjusters. I met the loss adjuster at the property and he were advised that we were insured.

They appointed a firm to strip out the damage including the partially damp carpets with the damp sections being cut out. Large areas of carpet was destroyed. The house is 4000 square feet. This Company also placed a number of dehumidifiers in the property on the instruction of the loss adjusters.

On 9th January I received a telephone call
from Crawfords advising me that they have been instructed by NFU not to proceed any further and everything was now for my cost.

Why no one could called me from NFU themselves I do not know.

The reason they said, was because we did not advise them that the property was empty. That is absolute rubbish as it is well documented from my previous email communications.

They agreed in the end that we had advised them but then said that there was a clause in the policy excluding water damage.

This I except and I did not realise that we were not covered. I had not read all of the small print in the documents.

I made a formal complaint as originally they excepted that they were liable and as a consequence ripped out expensive carpets some of which were most definitely salvageable,

I paid their contractor £7,242 for drying the property. NFU sent me £50 in compensation.

I wrote to them 22nd January expressing my view that they had originally excepted the claim and appointed workmen to strip out the house.
This work was over zealous and has caused me further expense.

My view is that they should not have even have entered my property and have asked them to contribute to my carpet replacement.

This started in January and here we are towards the end of May and no one has bothered to contact me to discuss or make an offer.

I have chased by email 4 times just to be told every time that they are awaiting instruction on how they are to proceed.

So if that is the sort of service you receive I would strongly suggest that you do not put your trust in this Company. In 4 months they can’t even make a decision on some carpet !

Poor company was insured with them 25…

Poor company was insured with them 25 years farm insurance house cars they had £1000s over them years maybe £250000 I had 1 non fault accident they wanted to pay but couldn't get the other party to agree and tried to charge me I refused and they tripled my car insurance. I had to get ombudsman involved to get compensation witch was granted disgusting service after all them years with no claims. Don't bother there advert is total lies never again.

Wonderful Service .

I have been with NFU for 16 years and this week made my second claim.
Arrived back last Tuesday from 10 days holiday to find my freezer had completely defrosted a week before due to a power cut that threw the circuit breaker.
I called on Wednesday morning to the Warminster branch and got straight through. The agent called me straight back to confirm I was covered and asked me for a list of the contents with replacement costs and a description of the freezer.
We did that later that afternoon. By 1800 it was confirmed that we would receive all I had claimed for less a £50 excess.
But the most incredible thing was that the cash was in my Bank later on Thursday.
Wonderful service , wouldn’t dream of going anywhere else.

Treated like criminals and pretty much had sort the whole claim out ourselves with no support from NFU !!!!!

Shocking service - beggars belief !

Terrible service. I made an official complaint about an ongoing claim involving a fallen tree which was not actioned at all - I ended up paying £3800 out of pocket to get the roof mended. U ahve had no resolution 6 weeks later-

To add insult to injury, the NFU have refused to cover our home after one failed payment which was an oversight during a period of severe illness, leaving two vulnerable adults in an uninsured house. My mother used NFU for 40 years - it’s an absolute scandal. I’m sure the papers will have something to say about this.

I couldn’t recommend the NFU to anyone, please avoid especially if you are in anyway vulnerable they will not look after you.

NFU are the best insurance company I have ever dealt with. Following a roof leak they swiftly sent a loss adjustor who efficiently helped me through the process. The claim was settled quickly and every consideration was given. I am most thankful to have them by my side.

Our claim took 2 years and 3 months to…

Our claim took 2 years and 3 months to complete. I felt I had to fight NFU for every penny! Not what anyone needs when they’ve had to move out of their home to dig up their entire floors. There was no compassion whatsoever!
