AVOID, DISHONEST, HEAVILY FOCUSED ON SELLING THAN REPAIRING

Epping / Northweald Branch.
Took my Countax C600 ride on lawnmower in with a simple fault – belt kept coming off, blade not rotating. Instead of diagnosing the actual problem, I was immediately hit with a quote of £1,000–£1,500 with no real breakdown and a push to part-exchange my mower for a new one from their showroom. They offered £100 for a machine that sells for £800–£1,200 on eBay.

When I pushed back and asked them to just fix the original fault, suddenly "all 6 bearings have gone." Here's the problem with that – you cannot assess individual bearings without removing the cutting deck and spinning each one by hand. They hadn't done that. They also couldn't tell me the belt condition without stripping the deck, yet somehow had a full diagnosis ready. The numbers don't add up.

The pattern here is clear: they're not interested in isolating and fixing your fault. They want to convince you your machine is beyond economic repair, offer you a fraction of its value in part exchange, then sell you something new from their stock. What happens to your old mower? My guess is it gets repaired cheaply and resold at a healthy margin.

//Update 11.06.2026 - Took the lawnmower apart myself and confirmed they were being dishonest :

As suspected, theres no way they checked the bearings. 1 pair of bearings needed changing, not all 6 as they tried to make me pay for.

The main deck belt dismounted which explains the 1 spinning blade, so new belt ordered on inspection as it was thin in some places.

Aforementioned, they tried to get me to pay for a load of stuff I didnt ask for which still wouldnt have resolved the issue I brought it in for. In foresite there wouldve been an even bigger bill on my way after they had done there "inspections" following the service.

Their initial £1500 quote has now cost me £30 to fix it myself. These guys will drain your wallet if youre not mechanically minded.

Find someone honest to do your lawnmower repairs.

my responses are to the point,proffesional and fair....
Although you live minutes away from the Epping workshop you were not interested in visiting the team to speak face to face so that they could explain their findings and its clear from the beginning of our conversations money was an issue for you and you didnt have the budget to carry out the repairs needed. Both of your mowers are now obsolete models and in very poor condition. There is over 100 years of experience in that Epping workshop and they repair these mowers day in day out. Not once did you bring these concerns up to me during the time we communicated and i can only see this poor review as a reaction from you as you didnt get what you wanted. We charged £66 to pick up your mowers review the repairs and return which barely covers the costs. We will continue to offer our many customers with the 5 star service we provide and as you can see we have many 5 star reviews - as we are a main authorised delarship for John Deere, Mountfield,Honda,Stihl and many more we do not offer short cut repairs. If we do a job we do it properly. I have been in this industry for 30 years and your mowers are only scrap value. The one on ebay selling for 1k or more will be in good working condition not at all like yours.

Don't go there

Placed an order for a number of items with clearly stated delivery address which was acknowledged on their invoice. Delivery was made to the invoice address not the delivery address, not the carriers fault as APS had attached the invoice address to the parcel.
On opening the parcel an item had been substituted with a different brand than had been ordered, as they had both phone and email details it would have taken moments to check if a substitution was ok.
Two emails were sent to raise these issues without a response. A third email did provoke a reply from Stewart Earthy a director who said "our support team will be in touch very soon" Three days later - no response despite another email sent to chase this lack of reply.
So if you want your order to be sent to the wrong address and to include an item you did not order along with a total lack of response to a legitimate complaint this business is definately for you!

We recognise there was an error with the delivery address and a mistake with the item supplied. This order came through a third party, and although we intended to send the Bulldog version, this was unfortunately not picked up before dispatch.

Ordered a gas bottle online

Ordered a gas bottle online, quick and easy system. Delivered the next day, the driver fitted the new bottle and even took the old empty one away!
Will definitely use again

Can’t be trusted with your order.

Despite us being long standing customers, we were really let down by this company. We ordered bottled gas yesterday (Tuesday) and had notification that it had been dispatched. We called this morning (Wednesday) as we hadn’t received the tracking info, to be told it would definitely arrive in 2-3 hours time. We then called after 4 hours to be told that it wouldn’t arrive until Friday.
This was essential as we have no heating and are currently living with temperatures close to 0. Absolutely appalling as they confirmed they could deliver within a time frame, then advised they had dispatched it, then assured that it was on its way until eventually admitting that they weren’t sending it for a further 3 days.

Further to your response. - the difficulties of delivery into London is understood, however you accepted the order.
My points were that:
A) you informed us the order had been dispatched, when it hadn’t. You lied.
B) after calling you, you advised it would arrive in 2-3 hours (when it hadn’t been dispatched). You lied.
C) only when calling you when the order didn’t arrive, did you advise that it would be a further 2 days before it would be delivered.
It was ordered on Tuesday and ultimately wouldn’t be delivered until Friday. If you knew you only deliver twice a week into London, and couldn’t provide the order in a timely fashion, you should have admitted that, giving us the opportunity of obtaining gas elsewhere to provide us with heating.
You may consider my comments harsh, however every word was true, and you aren’t freezing cold on a boat.
Instead of your somewhat sarcastic, flippant response, you would have appeared in a better light had you have simply apologised for your service falling short.

Apologies this didn’t work out for you - i do need to point out that you did pay for express delivery which explains that this is a 1-2 day delivery service so next day was not an option anyway so tomorrow would have been our deadline anyway. You are also in central London which adds to the difficulties of getting to you at this busy time. Bottles of gas cannot be posted and have to be delivered by licensed drivers. I have emailed you earlier suggesting that you take 2 cylinders so that you can rotate your stock to avoid running out and that we would not charge you the deposit on the second cylinder. Your review is harsh i‘m afraid and unfair. We have hundreds of good reviews.

Excellent service. I ordered the STIHL ASA20 Effortless Cordless Secateurs Set (Inc. battery & charger) - AS System. It was a good price and it arrived the next day. Perfect. Couldn’t ask for better.

Very good online ordering and delivery

Having so few reviews on Trustpilot I wondered whether APS was any good. I ordered a chainsaw, hedge trimmer, battery and charger, all were delivered the next day. Very efficient, and at competitive prices. I cannot fault the service.

Very bad service

Very bad service! I brought my blower for service they said they couldn't do the job after more than 3 weeks and returned to me all open in pieces without deposit back. I brought to another place and I have a working blower! They just wanted to make more money selling a new one. Don't trust them! Take a second opinion before assuming your machinery is no good.
