After a DISGRACEFUL experience of customer service from PULMAN VW, DURHAM, after 3 separate visits and 60 miles of wasted journeys, being given incorrect information and a totally unhelpful attitude, LOOKERS VW Teesside took only 20 minutes to assess, diagnose and commit to completing a sensor issue replacement (either via my cars current and valid warranty or as a goodwill gesture should the warranty not cover)
The job was successfully done a couple of weeks later at my service and MOT appointment in a very efficient, honest and highly competent way. ( Under warranty as it happened)
A big thank you to Ashleigh and Jen on the service team for their professional attitude to genuinely wanting to help
How the VW customer service experience from two VW dealerships has been so polar opposite is not a good reflection on the VW brand itself to be honest
This is my own genuine an honest experience which I am more than willing to discuss with VW in much more detail ( of which there is more) to evidence my comments.
Unfortunately both VW and Pulman did not respond to my request to be contacted on surveys that both had sent to me in the first instance

Excellent customer service throughout. The air conditioning in my Ford Puma had stopped working, which given the hot weather we are having was less than ideal. The problem was quickly diagnosed in the most cost effective way and the quote for the work required was explained to me. The repair itself was completed within the estimated timeframe and my car was given a complimentary valet which was a nice touch. I’ve used Lookers Ford in Sudbury for several years and can highly recommend them.
Was easy to make a service appointment at a time to suit me, Service Staff very helpful and professional I was quoted a ‘while you wait’ service time of 1 1/2 hours which was adhered to, complimentary car wash and vac completed the whole experience.
Don't waste any more of my time . Useless
I decided to use Lookers Kia Stockport for my 2nd service as I had a particularly unpleasant experience at my local Kia garage previously. Turned out this garage is no better.
I booked my service and courtesy car over the phone in advance. I called back nearer the time to check all was good to go ahead as I had not received a confirmation email or text. I was assured that my service was still booked in as well as the courtesy car and a belated confirmation email was sent out to me.
I turned up on the day of my service to drop my car off and found out no courtesy car had been booked. I explained I had double checked this with their booking team and the garage staff said no courtesy car was showing up on the system as booked in for me. I was left having to fork out money for a taxi home as I am not local to Stockport. I rely on my car for accessibility so being without a courtesy car was hugely inconvenient.
I was given an email address to submit a complaint which I have contacted twice and received no response from. I missed a call back which I followed up with an email explaining I am unable to take calls during working hours at the moment and could further correspondence take place via email to make it easier for everyone. I was ignored.
I also received the results of a vehicle health check that was done during my service which contained videos of my car that were filmed by staff at the garage with no explanations alongside them. The email prompted me to contact the garage if I had any questions. I contacted them via an enquiry form on their website and was once again ignored.
I would not recommend this garage, or any Kia garage for that matter. My booking was handled carelessly and they have been downright rude with regards to aftercare.

We were travelling a few hours to come and get this car and they stayed in touch regularly, listened to us well, and made the whole transaction progress very smoothly. The car is great, nicely prepared and we've been happy with the whole experience. Thank you!
The salesman Jack was very professional and pleasant at all times
He explained in detail, all the financial implications and the additional warranties available.
On the day we collected our car he took time and explained all the controls of the car to us, we felt very assured as we drove away.
Had my van in charles hurst renault and paul the service manager was a gentleman as always

Every step of the purchase was clearly explained and nothing was too much trouble. Jack responded quickly to any queries and went above and beyond to support us through the process. This is the third time we have bought from Lookers Blackburn and with sales staff like Jack it won’t be the last.
Efficient, friendly and work done in good time. No problems whatsoever.
Arrived mid afternoon on a Saturday (4th July) possibly 6 staff no customers.
I would have bought a 4 iconic+ today but went next door and am probably buying a VW.
Even just acknowledging we were there would have been a start.

Called to change the day of my service due to a relative being unwell, spoke to someone on the phone who confirmed the date had been changed! My mum travelled to my home to wait with my keys from 9am so I could go to work, I called to check that someone was coming this was confirmed over the phone that morning someone would be there by 11am my mum called me at 12pm saying no one had been I was very apologetic to my mum and called back, the persons attitude from the start was terrible,he said that my car wasn’t booked in! I said it was because I called to check, he then changed it and said it had been cancelled must have cancelled the wrong one (not sure what that meant) no solution offered so I advised well that’s really inconvenient because my elderly mother has been sat at my house since 9am waiting? No solution offered again however I did get an erm sorry but we can’t book you in now!! He asked what kind of service it was I said I did t know I have my car on pcp and it is collected for a service every year, I could actually hear his eyes roll when he said well must be major service then (dur me I guess) as the customer I had to say well can I book it In again he continued to talk over me but we came to an agreement on a date I asked if it could be the first to be picked up as I have to get to work and I can’t ask my mum to come sit in my home again, he said the cars are picked up between 9-11 I said yes but you have inconvenienced me and now I have to rearrange, he said he couldnt promise anything but would pass that on to the driver, never mind can you collect it from work and ensure it’s back before 5 then? his response well yeah as long as there is nothing wrong with it (dur me again!) as a senior customer service officer myself I’m guessing this person works in sales and not customer service and he was the only one available to answer the phone at that time!! if your sales staff don’t care about existing customers then they should not be answering the phones. After 1 purchase from lookers and 1 pcp this will be last time we use them. I also suggest that you listen to the call and offer customer service training to your staff. If a mistake has been made then you should go above and beyond for that customer and also offer a sincere apology. Otherwise you lose, my customers don’t pay for my service and yet I treat every single one like they do. Showing empathy and understanding de-escalates tensions and the customer will recommend your services, talk to them like there an inconvenience and you lose customers, word of mouth is still the most effective form of advertising.
Great reception, Kirsty kept me informed on the work required along with costing without any pressure

This is the worst and most unprofessional cowboy dealership I've ever dealt with my my entire life.
Peter Swann - where to begin with this guy. Never answers any questions despite multiple, repeated emails asking very basic questions. I literally had to tell him how to set out his emails because he writes them like a two year old.
Simon Farnworth - shows it's a culture thing here because he never answers questions either.
They are the biggest set of donkeys I have ever come across in my life. They are a total embassament to their industry.
AVOID this place at all costs.
Very Poor
Firstly had to wait weeks for an appointment because of a courtesy car. On the day I was booked in at 8am but there was a sign on the door saying 0830 because no staff had arrived yet. Apart from the mechanics who were all sat around waiting for some keys to start their day. The courtesy car wasn’t even in their diary, so took them ages to find me one and it was by no means like for like. Oh and didn’t have much fuel in it. They finished a full inspection and a 10,000 mile service within a couple of hours. Made me feel like they hadn’t even done the work. I have a service plan, but if I had handed over hundreds of pounds to them I would have felt like I had been ripped off. They didn’t valet the car, I’ve had cars I have paid a hell of a lot less for that have a valet on service day. Whole experience was awful, which makes me reluctant to go back.
