Good job, poor communication, 30% higher invoice—won’t use them again.
AA Cooper had excellent reviews, so I contacted them for a bathroom improvement job in January 2025. Ashley was very professional during the assessment and provided a quotation (#7259) on the spot. The price was similar to two other quotes I received, but I was impressed by their reviews and quick turnaround, so I decided to go with AA Cooper.
The work was completed by Oliver in early February 2025. I was happy with both the quality and the overall process. However, a few days later, I received an invoice (#10467) that was 30% higher than the agreed quotation, along with a voicemail from Pauline stating that the job had taken longer than expected, which resulted in the additional charge.
I contacted AA Cooper to explain that the scope of work had not changed, and there were no delays from my side—I even provided a missing part while Oliver continued working. Despite this, they insisted on the additional charge. Pauline referred me to Ashley, who then redirected me back to Pauline. After multiple back-and-forth conversations, I asked them either to adjust the invoice to match the quotation or to explain exactly what I was paying 30% extra for. Unfortunately, instead of offering a resolution, they stood firm on the inflated invoice.
In the end, I paid the additional charge but felt it was unfair. It’s disappointing because I was otherwise happy with the work, and I put considerable effort into trying to resolve the issue amicably. Sadly, AA Cooper decided that an extra £150 mattered more than their reputation. I won’t be using them again.
