I so wish I had made this appointment years ago. I have always been very fit and eaten incredibly mindfully, yet however slim I became, my legs have always remained disproportionately larger. After several varicose vein operations, I knew something wasn’t quite right and had often wondered whether I might have lymphoedema or lipoedema. Knowing neither has a cure, I had never pursued a diagnosis and instead just tried to manage things myself through diet and exercise.

Meeting Julie changed that completely. She is incredibly knowledgeable, warm and reassuring, and for the first time I felt genuinely heard and understood. She took the time to listen, gave me a diagnosis and clear advice, shared really useful sources of information and prescribed compression garments, which I am already so impressed with.

I came away feeling informed, looked after and, most importantly, hopeful that there are things I can do to improve and manage my condition. I appreciated every second of the appointment and only wish I had gone sooner.

My sister and I visited and initially we were nervous but felt instantly felt at ease when we met Sue. Her bright smile and friendly demeanor made it easier to explain our situation without rushing. She patiently answered our many questions with honest, realistic solutions. She truly is a credit to the team. Would highly recommend.

I had my assessment at the lipedema clinic on 15 August 2026 and was extremely impressed with the service from start to finish. I was seen on time and welcomed warmly by the staff.
Sue was the nurse who carried out my assessment, and from our very first interaction she was incredibly welcoming, kind and reassuring. She immediately put me at ease, and I felt comfortable and relaxed throughout the appointment.
Sue carried out a very thorough assessment and provided me with all the information I needed, along with lots of additional advice on managing pain, wearing compression garments and appropriate exercises. She was extremely knowledgeable and took the time to answer all of my questions, and even went above and beyond with further advice and guidance.
I was particularly impressed by Sue’s professionalism, friendliness and genuine care. She made what could have been an overwhelming assessment feel comfortable and reassuring.
Overall, this was a fantastic service and I couldn’t have asked for a better nurse. Sue was absolutely amazing, and I’m very grateful for all her help and support. I would highly recommend the clinic to anyone attending for a lipedema assessment.

Great experience my 90 year old mum was well looked after

I have suffered with varying degrees of Gout and swollen legs for close to 10 years.....Following two leg DVT's everything below my waist seemed to change and somehow the medical team at my Doctor's Surgery did not know what was wrong with me. Following several research calls, I was pointed in the direction of Accelerate.....Living in Cornwall, we drove to Hackney and met Julie Chuter.....A few hours later and we have a pathway to improving everything that has caused me to be inactive and depressed. I now know I have Lymphoedema and have the tools to get going again...Not a cure but I feel I will regain my life. Thanks team NH x

Third visit to Accelerate this time seen by a nurse called Sue. The usual very high level of service I have come to expect now. I actually look forward to coming here it's like you would imagine a paid private service would be.

I saw Natalie today, she absolutely knows her subject inside out. She gave me lots of helpful tools and ideas to decrease my pain levels and make life easier. She really set me at ease and made me feel like a person, not just a number. She showed empathy and understanding, which really made me feel heard, especially since I am having such a tough time with my condition. I would 100% recommend both the accelerate and Natalie.

I booked a private appointment for a lipoedema diagnosis as my GP wouldn't refer me. The appointment was amazing. For the first time I felt listened to and acknowledged. I saw Rhodri who went through my medical history and why I thought I have lipoedema. He examined me, confirmed that I have lipoedmea as well as secondary lymphedema. He then discussed conservative measures and measured me precisely for leg compression garments. He explained that a report would be sent to my GP recommending referral to a local lymphedema clinic and asking the GP to do a prescription for the compression garments that would be fulfilled by Patient Choice. A doppler test was also undertaken. The report was written and a copy e-mailed to me the next day (very impressive). The cost was £250, but for a 90 minute appointment - cheaper than other alternative and for an appointment 3 times as long and I was measured for compression. I could not recommend highly enough. Worth every penny.

I had a really great experience with Anna. She made me feel very seen and heard I left feeling very good about the my diagnosis and really spent time uplifting me. The staff on reception are also very lovely too.

I arrived a few minutes late but was not made to feel guilty about it. Natalie was the person that I was with. She was friendly, approachable and immediately put me at ease. She was extremely knowledgeable and gave me lots of tips and basic information that I just had not thought of. She explained in depth about the type of footwear that was best for me, and why it was best for me. An absolutely thought provoking and positive experience. I feel like I got so much from this one visit, and have adopted the suggestions that Natalie advised. A really positive experience. I would highly recommend this place. Not only thanks to Natalie but to the lovely receptionist near the entrance.

I saw Anna a week ago and she was incredibly knowledgeable and professional in my diagnosis. She was patient, kind and spent a lot of time answering my questions. I would highly recommend Accelerate and Anna, it was a huge relief to be diagnosed and feel validated.

Had an appointment with Mel today at the Lymphoedema clinic at st Joseph’s hospice and Mel was kind very informative gave me lots of good advice and encouragement I left feeling relieved, heard and that she was putting into place lots for me to recover going forward, would really recommend the service and especially Mel who really put my mind at ease that with the support I can really maintain and keep control of my condition, I look forward to seeing Mel in another 6 months and hopefully she will be please with my progress
