The company did not return an 800 euro deposit, more than 30 business days have passed and after several emails there is still no response why the deposit was charged from my credit card after the rental ended or if it was even released by the company.
The car was returned at Dubrovnik airport before office hours (which was agreed with the company), but there was no report signed at drop off - which also doesn't help when trying to settle the issue with my bank and prove I have met all conditions of the rental agreement (which I have).

Edit following the company reply: I have indicated over email that part of this damage was already present on the car during pick up and included in the pick up report. I have also provided a photo of this damage done at pick up, yet somehow I was still charged for it. After pointing this out and asking for any photo documentation of other damage supposedly caused during my rental, the company never replied.
It's also hard to accept that no damage report at drop off was done in my presence and the company never informed why the deposit was not returned (communication was initiated only following my review).

Je tiens à alerter très sérieusement sur les pratiques de cette agence de location. Le véhicule qui m’a été confié était en état de délabrement avancé et clairement dangereux pour la route.

Malgré mes signalements immédiats, le personnel a refusé d’agir, s’est montré de mauvaise foi, et a tenté de me faire porter la responsabilité d’un état qui ne date clairement pas de ma location.

Ce comportement est non seulement malhonnête, mais surtout criminel, car il constitue une mise en danger délibérée.
Je considère avoir été mis(e) en danger, et une plainte est actuellement en cours auprès des autorités compétentes.

Je vais également réaliser un signalement auprès de la DGCCRF et, si nécessaire, de la préfecture pour les manquements graves à la sécurité. Ne louez jamais un véhicule chez eux. Fuyez cette agence.

J’ai eu l’une des pires expériences de ma vie avec cette agence de location. Le véhicule qu’on m’a remis était dans un état catastrophique avec une multitude de problèmes mécaniques flagrants. Au lieu de me garantir un véhicule en bon état et sécurisé, cette agence m’a fait courir des risques considérables, sans aucun scrupule.

Ce qui est encore plus scandaleux, c’est leur attitude après avoir signalé les problèmes. Plutôt que de prendre mes préoccupations au sérieux, on m’a renvoyé comme si je racontais des mensonges. L’agence joue la carte de la mauvaise foi à fond, refusant de reconnaître ses responsabilités et ne prenant même pas la peine de répondre correctement aux réclamations. Aucune forme de compensation, aucune excuse pour les désagréments, et encore moins de geste commercial.

J’ai déposé une plainte officielle et j’encourage vivement tous les clients potentiels à éviter cette entreprise. Non seulement les véhicules sont mal entretenus, mais la gestion de la relation client est à la limite du scandaleux. Si vous tenez à votre sécurité et à votre argent, passez votre chemin et choisissez une agence qui respecte ses clients et ses engagements !

Active Rent Car Croazia, quanto alla mia esperienza, è compagnia molto valida e onesta.
La consegna dell'auto (aeroporto Zara) è avvenuta con modalità efficienti e tempi rapidi.
Alla consegna, ho anche acquistato, al costo extra previsto, l'accesso alle isole e ottenuto lo spostamento dell'ora della riconsegna dal tardo pomeriggio alla mattina successiva, molto presto (prima della riapertura del desk) senza costi extra e con rilascio di chiavi e documenti nella apposita cassetta.
Auto in perfette condizioni e sblocco della cauzione in tempi brevi.
Active Rent Car Croazia merita l'attestazione del massimo gradimento, visto che in giro (Europa e non solo) proliferano compagnie di noleggio inaffidabili se non addirittura truffaldine.

They Refuse Refunds and Insult Customers. AVOID AT ALL COSTS!

If I could give zero stars, I would. Steer clear of this company.
My experience was incredibly negative, not because of the car itself, but because of the appalling customer treatment. I made a small mistake and returned the car with more fuel than necessary. When I pointed this out, the company acknowledged it but then flat-out refused to refund the difference.
But the real problem began when I politely insisted. The tone of their emails became shocking. They wrote to me that the problem was "exclusively and only because of your carelessness" and that they were tired of having to "correspond with you indefinitely."
In short: not only did they keep my money for a service I didn't receive (the extra fuel), but they also treated me with unbelievable arrogance and aggression. It was shameful and completely unprofessional behavior.
My sincere advice: there are dozens of other rental companies in Zadar. For your own peace of mind and to avoid being treated like this, choose a different one. Avoid this company at all costs.

Voleur, ils nous ont arnaquer de 900 euros (dépôt de garantie) jamais remboursé

This company is scam. Never use it. they took 900euro as deposit and for 6 month not returned. No one answer your calls or mails. I have rejected the payment from my credit card and credit card company took it back after 6 months.

De returnerer ikke indskud. de er svindlere og vil fortælle dig, at indbetalingen er blevet sendt tilbage, men den har ikke holdt sig væk fra dette firma, de er problemer

Ne leur faites jamais confiance, ils essaieront par un moyen ou un autre de vous voler ! Car ils sont capables de répondre à mes commentaires ici, mais pas capable de me rembourser mon dépôt de garantie ! Ils se cachent derrière " un problème bancaire" . Des incapables, c'est tout ce qu'ils sont !

Rental itself was all ok, however I feel uncomfortable when I don't receive a receipt for returning car where it says that the car is ok.
So I do not know what happens with my deposit, whether they claim a damage at a later time and I have no evidence against it. I even cannot proof that I returned it at all.
I have to sign papers when receiving the car, why don't they sign a paper when returning it ???

Just back from zadar, had a easy and pleasant experience with active car rental from zadar airport, pick up was quick and drop off through the door hope as it was a 5 am drop, no issues, will gladly use again.

Nice and professional staff, clean and new vehicles. I have rented from them for the fourth time already. Today I got the deposit almost instantly after returning the car, literally on the same day, awesome:-)

We had a great experience with Active Rent a Car based at Split Airport. Car pick up was a very easy and quick, with friendly and helpful member of staff. The car itself was in great condition, clean, and ran perfectly during our trip.
What really stood out was how accommodating they were when we had a bit of a crisis on the way back. We missed the ferry from one of the islands and we were running late for the drop off and we were certain we will miss our flight. After contacting the company, Tomislav (and his colleague who we contacted initially) went above and beyond to help us sort the drop off out. Thanks to their help, we made our flight with 5 minutes spare!!! I can’t thank them enough and highly recommend this rental company to anyone traveling through Split Airport. Excellent service and outstanding customer care!

Noleggiato un'auto nel mese di giugno all'aeroporto di Zara. Avevo richiesto una Polo o similare ma allo stesso prezzo mi è stata data una T-Cross praticamente nuova, pulitissima e accessoriata. Il noleggio è stato perfetto e gli addetti sono stati gentili a risolvere un problema con un oggetto dimenticato sull'auto al momento della restituzione. Esperienza molto positiva.

We had the most dreadful experience of our vacation so far with ACTIVE Car Rental. We had reserved a car to drive to Dubrovnik and were supposed to pick it up at 4:30 PM. Knowing we’d be a little late due to traffic, we called the agency around 3 PM. The customer service representative was very kind and reassured us that a delay was completely understandable.

When we arrived at the Rijeka location around 5:10 PM, we were met by a man who immediately confronted us with hostility. Without so much as a greeting, he began accusing us of lying and insisted that we had never called anyone. He then barked orders at us—“Sit. Card. ID. Reservation.”—as if we were children.

Apparently, we didn’t hand over the documents fast enough for his liking, and he grew visibly irritated, repeating his demands with a very raised voice. He asked my boyfriend whether we were traveling outside of Croatia. For context, my boyfriend doesn’t speak Croatian and English isn’t his first language, so he misunderstood the question. The man’s response was to raise his voice again even louder - shouting at us at this point. I stepped in to clarify that we were only going to Dubrovnik, as clearly stated in the reservation, to which he shouted, “I’m not talking to you—I’m talking to the man.” (For reference, I’m a woman.)

At that point, I asked for our documents back and canceled the reservation on the spot. I called the agency again—the same one he insisted we had never contacted—and their communication was professional, but unfortunately, their employee’s behavior was anything but.

Having staff who speak to customers with such misogyny, aggression, and complete lack of respect reflects terribly on the company. I truly hope no one else has to experience this kind of treatment while trying to enjoy their vacation. Avoid this agency at all costs—there are plenty of others who will treat you like a human being.

Nous avons loué une voiture sur ce site et nous l'avons déposé avant l'ouverture de l'agence suite à décollage avion matinal. Et c'est là que se situe l'erreur parce que active rent peut inventer et trafiquer les photos de la voiture. Nous avons rendu une voiture très propre et identique à l'état de notre départ. On nous a envoyé des photos avec des rayures et une aile enfoncée. Ces photos datent certainement d'un autre jour où trafiquée. De plus on nous oblige à déposer une caution avec une carte de crédit de 800 € . On nous a envoyé un débit pour le 5 août.
C'est une vraie arnaque. À éviter à tout prix.
En faire part à tous vos contacts et amis qui ont l'intention d'aller en Croatie.

Fuyez cette agence de location de voiture à SPLIT, nous invente une rayure sous le pare choc de la voiture et 1 semaine après nous envoie une autre photo d'une aile cabossée, tout est fait pour ne pas nous rendre notre caution de 800€. nous avons à faire à des gens malhonnête qui nous laisse un gout amer de notre voyage en Croatie. Arnaqueur ! À fuire. Il débite la caution au lieu de simplement la bloquer, disent qu’ils vont la rendre mais ne la rendent jamais. Ça fait maintenant 2 mois que je me bats pour récupérer mon argent.

We experienced the friendliest reception ever at a rental car desk and there was no queue. The car received was larger than what we paid for and it has a mere 236 kms on the meter, so basically brand new. Despite the car being new, we had some problems with it, but that’s VW’s fault, not Actives’. We drove the car across five borders (for the advertised €70 extra cost) and returned it without any problems to a similarly friendly employee as at checkout. The deposit was released immediately. Hassle-free and very good value for money.
I seldom write reviews but considering that this company is taking flak for an apparently similarly named rogue company in Antalya I make an exception and highly recommend (the Croation company) Active! (Who are these ignorants that can’t tell the difference between Turkey and Croatia?)

This company totally SCAM VERY DISAPPOINTED!first when I book online I’ve included a car insurance but when I arrive in ANTALYA they ask me to get there OWN insurance or I’ll make a deposit €900 so we get the insurance.We have a flat tire so we change the tire and they are fully aware didn’t say anything when we returned the car.when I’m back in UK they charged me £508 for a tire so we ask the receipt and breakdown so we could claim to the insurance but no response for almost 3 weeks till now. My deposit didn't refunded. Now I realised It’s A MODUS! I’m disputing now to my Credit card! BEWARE SCAMMER COMPANY
