Locked out of account after verifying myself multiple times

I am extremely frustrated with my ongoing experience and the lack of consistency, communication, and resolution on my account.

In 2024, my Shop Pay account was hacked, which caused my Affirm account to be locked. Throughout fall 2024, I went through multiple failed attempts to verify my identity by uploading my face and driver’s license. Each time, I was told to email support, only to be sent back into the same upload loop with no resolution.

After stating I was going to escalate my situation with another involvement, that is when my account suddenly began working again—without any confirmation email or explanation from Affirm. I was then able to successfully make purchases throughout 2025 and into 2026 with no issues, which clearly indicated my account had been unlocked and my identity verified.

Recently, after using a one-time card for tickets and a hotel (which were refunded and the card canceled), I spoke with five different customer service agents, none of whom mentioned my account being locked. Only after directly questioning the fifth agent on 1/15/26 was I told my account was locked due to an issue from 2024. This made no sense, as I had been actively using my account for over a year.

Immediately after that call, I received another request to upload my face and driver’s license yet again. On 1/20/26, I was told my photos were received and that I only needed to call to confirm details—only for that call to once again turn into a demand to re-upload my identity documents.

I then spent over an hour on the phone with a supervisor with no resolution. During that call, the supervisor contradicted earlier statements and said my account had been unlocked previously in 2024 because Affirm had already confirmed my identity. If that is true, there is no clear explanation for why my account has now been locked again for the same issue.

I am now unable to access my billing statements or manage payments, despite having active payment arrangements and auto-pay set up. I was never notified at any point in 2025 or 2026 that my account was supposedly still locked—because it clearly was not.

I have been a customer over 5 years and never missed a payment and remained a loyal customer even after the significant issues in 2024. Reopening a closed case years later without notice, locking me out of my own account, and providing conflicting explanations is unacceptable.

When I speak with supervisors, I am informed that they cannot provide additional information because my account is locked and my identity cannot be verified. At the same time, I am told that I can continue making payments on my loan. This is unclear, as payments are still being accepted while my identity is stated as unverified.

I also received an email stating that, based on the information I provided (including my face scan, driver’s license, date of birth, and other details), my identity could not be verified and that verification attempts were unsuccessful. The email instructed me to use a different form of payment.

This situation has caused unnecessary stress and disruption, and it appears to be the result of internal errors and poor communication. Being a customer for 5 years who has never missed a payment. I am still waiting for proper access and a real resolution.

Making a return on Affirm is a NIGHTMARE

When making a purchase on Affirm things seem to work okay. When you have to return something it's an actual NIGHTMARE. Affirm is so unhelpful, there is no communication between the actually companies. I have paid for items in their entirety after having returned items months previous.

After Three Disputes and a BBB Complaint...

I’m updating my review to reflect that Affirm did eventually reverse its decision and issue a refund. For that reason, I’m increasing my rating.

That said, this resolution only came after three separate disputes, two of which were denied despite extensive documentation. The third dispute was approved on the same evidence that had already been reviewed and rejected twice, and only after I filed a formal complaint with the Better Business Bureau. I was also asked multiple times to resubmit evidence that had already been provided and denied, and communication was often delayed or non-substantive.

I appreciate that the matter was ultimately resolved, but it required an unreasonable amount of persistence, escalation, and external pressure. Customers should be aware that getting a fair outcome may require far more effort than expected, even when the evidence is clear.

AffirmTravel Total Scam Ripoff don't list Timeshare for sale with them!

I was solicited by AffirmTravel for sale of my Timeshare week.
Paid $2950 up front (my mistake)
Was unable to contact thereafter with questions, no call back from messages left. No potential buyers referred. I have been had. DO NOT use them for sales of your Time Share. Total Scam Ripoff!

Never had so much of a hard time with…

Never had so much of a hard time with any company. Im outside Canada now, therfore my phone number does not work anymore, due to that im unable to log in into my account and pay any of my debts. tried contact in everyway possible just to change the password or even try connecting to the account but they seem to be unreacheble.

Payments

Some of my payment days don't align with my paydays but I attempted to make my payments every time. Lately I've had to schedule them later on and not by much a few days by best. I still get nasty emails and text messages telling me of missed payments, even though I rescheduled them on their app.

I had a purchase of 394.00 with a…

I had a purchase of 394.00 with a merchant (Hotel). At arrival the hotel couldn't find my reservation for my stay at all. So they needed a card at the time of visit. I called affirm and they confirmed it. The hotel swiped my card and charged me for the stay. I disbute through my bank and they gave me my money back. Now they took my money back out to give it to the hotel. I was still making payments on it. So its paid in full with affirm. I paid twice and cant get my money back with the hotel or affirm. I opened a dispute with affirm in January. Mind you this was back in August. I lost the dispute now I cant close my account but I have a payment I have to pay and clearly I paid back in November (last payment). I not paying that. This is the only bad experience I had with them. I took my card off of affirm and the can kiss my ass.

I would give them zero stars if I could.
One of their customers, Euploria, sells fake sneakers made to look like in ON - On Running brand.
They are so cheaply made they might last one day of use.
I filed a dispute with Affirm and they sided with Euploria but will not share what their evidence amounted to.
Beware, Affirm will not support you so don’t use them.

Whoever made the app needs some…

Whoever made the app needs some coaching . Just to update my new number it took me more than a month and after that also I kept getting emails your new number has been claimed by someone and has been deleted . Not once but 4-5 times now . It’s so frustrating to update your details
. And they take their own sweet time to respond and update . Absolutely horrible experience.

My experience with Affirm has been…

My experience with Affirm has been absolutely horrible.

A family member opened loans in my name without my consent. When those loans appeared on my credit report and started lowering my credit score because they were never paid, I contacted Affirm immediately. I provided as much evidence as possible to prove that this was not me and that this was fraud.

Despite all of this, Affirm still labeled the loans as my responsibility. I was transferred from representative to representative over and over again, with no real help or resolution. In the end, I was forced to pay off loans that I never took out just to protect my credit.

Now, after finally paying everything off, I’m trying to close my account and I’m being told I have to wait 30 days. After everything I went through, this feels completely unfair and exhausting.

On top of that, English is not my first language, which made the verification process even harder. One of the employees, Daniel, was extremely rude and unprofessional. Even though I was speaking English, he snapped at me and told me to “speak English” simply because I pronounced the “@” symbol wrong. That interaction was humiliating and unacceptable.

The only positive part of this entire experience was speaking with Alondra, who was kind, patient, and actually tried to help me. She was the only person who treated me with respect.

Overall, Affirm failed me in every way when I needed help the most. I would not recommend this company, especially if you ever need support for fraud or account issues. Horrible company and with some bad employees too in customer services hope this app gets taken down!

shocking customer services

shocking customer services, scamming people. All proof was provided that the product was not delivered and affirm is now ignoring it! And now they do not want to deal with it anymore as 60 days h ave passed because I have been sending proof for over 60 days to the service provider and to affirm! avoid this is an absolute scam scamming you out of huge amounts

Easy to get in, Impossible to get out

I was originally happy with affirm due to the ease of application, approval, and setup for my purchase. However, when it came time to consolidate my debt, this service became impossible. No option for credit card use, no virtual card number for a balance transfer, and the customer service agent advised me to have a family member pay it off for me. If I had rich family, I wouldn't be using a personal loan like this. With a high monthly payment and no other options, this company is purposefully obtuse in order to not help their customers. Worst customer service I've received in a long time, and my job is remote customer service, so I try to be extra patient. If you value your money, time, or dignity, find another service.

Took my money but failed

Took my money but failed to pass onto the merchant via the equally useless shop app. Claimed that my Uk bank card was not legitimate in the UK. Called the usual south Asian support desk could not get any satisfactory explanation as to why. Why did I use part payment through Shop app? Now got to wait 15days before Barclays will do anything.
No response from the trader Angling Technics re the original transaction despite email/whatsapp/message form and several attempts via phone. The whole experience was awful. Will never use Affirm for anything again doubt I’ll use Angling Technics either.
I would like you to process a reverse of the failed transaction and refund me the amount of £103.32 that you took from me under false pretences.

Incompetents posing as financiers.

This financial service is wholly UNRELIABLE as a fiduciary institution. There was a denial of my loan approval on Amazon, so I let the purchase come out of my Money saving's fund that I had with them. The NP loan status immediately came out of my savings(unauthorized) and when I went back and authorized the amount to be paid by my saving account, it showed up as a duplicate charge to my account. The problem, clearly, being on their end, as a duplicate charge. Amazon never sent me a duplicate order, so clearly Affirm fumbled the ball. Then, when I called them on it a day later, they promised to remove the duplicate charge, advising me to wait 5 days - which they didn't. Then when I came back I got dribbled between 3 separate departments over removing a simple clerical error on their part and returning the $35.07 to my savings! It was MY MONEY to begin with! I immediately withdrew all the money I had in my accounts with them and when it arrives back in my checking account with my fiduciary, I will close my account with them. I will get a much higher APY with other Money management accounts like Wealthfront and Chime(above 4% APY), I don't need Affirms 3.2% APY! Beware these incompetent people working under the guise of financiers!

We're good until they weren't. Don't trust…

I've used this company several times and until December 2025 I hadn't had a problem. I've ordered two things now one the dispute was fine the other they've already charged me for half of it and they're saying it was delivered to my house, but there's no proof that it was delivered to my house. I never received the product. I would not use them again and they'll be lucky if they get any more of my money because if they don't resolve this simple transaction that I never received I will not pay them anymore. I cannot trust them. You shouldn't either.

I purchased a watch with a buy one get…

I purchased a watch with a buy one get one free black friday deal. From a company called velorix which transpired were a company from China. I had used Affirm as I thought this would be a safer option rather than pay upfront and hope the goods turned up. After weeks of waiting with no response from emails to Velorix, I was left with no choice but to contact Affirm. They put the payment on hold and said they would contact the vendor (velorix). Funny enough they found in favour of Velorix as they had despatched the item eventually. When the items arrived they turned out to not be as advertised I.e cheap plastic rubbish basically. I once again contacted Affirm and again they opened a complaint, they asked me for evidence which I supplied even uploading a video of the watches. However again they found in favour of Velorix as they say they delivered the item. Never mind it was cheap rubbish that arrived. I have to pay the money due as it will affect my credit score. It seems to me that this company Affirm will take your money no matter what and are dealing with scammer companies. I would 100% stay ear of both companies. I am absolutely disgusted and surprised that this is the financial arm of shopify. So be very careful and if possible avoid using all 3.

Bought something never received it put…

Bought something never received it put in a dispute and showed it wasn't delivered and still made us pay for an item never received. Update i called affirm like asked and all i got was the run around for 10 mins and still no resolution so don't reply if all you're going to do is just play stupid games
