I requested a refund on 5 November and, to date, I have received no response or resolution.
Every time I call, I am given polite but meaningless reassurance. I am repeatedly told that my request is “under process,” yet no one takes responsibility and nothing actually happens. There has been no follow-up, no clear timeline, and no action.
This delay has directly affected my exam plans and wasted a significant amount of my time and study effort. I arranged my schedule based on the expectation that this issue would be handled professionally, which it has not been.
I have had such a horrendous experience with them since the 2023 migration (or lack thereof in my case) from hell that meant I missed out on the May SCS sitting leaving me only Aug for the course that my employers had paid for. Of course I managed to fail that by 1 mark!
It was entirely CIMAs fault that I only got one sitting for that preseen when I was banking on two shots at it just in case. I have had my PER approved and everything just missed out by 1 mark on this case study that I had months of stress to even get booked.
Now I can't afford a new course and obviously my employers aren't going to pay for another course. I couldn't access my account from April and was emailing them a couple of times a week for months with no resolution. In the end, as a last resort, I had to create a new account a few days before the August exam entry deadline otherwise I would have missed that sitting too. This new account does not show any of my history and I had to again go through many emails back and forth just to get my approved PER status updated.
CIMA would not accept any sort of responsibility and point blank said no to any form of compensation, a remark or special consideration given my unique circumstances which were ultimately a result of CIMAs own incompetence.
They have proven to me they could not give a shit about their students and we don't have any sort of complaints process or anything to back us up. It's just hand us your money and if we don't deliver tough just hand us more money.
I decided that I didn't want to be associated with them any longer nor give them any more of my time or money. I also feel like they've really cheapened the qualification with this new FLP route and the whole Americanisation of the institution.
I have actually now resigned my membership and am glad I don't have to deal with them any more but even that resignation process took a ridiculous amount of effort to do!
2 years later and I just logged into my account to change some details and I noticed that it has still not been updated. No exam history or anything other than the one I booked using that new account. This is beyond ridiculous. All that money that they have had from me over so many years and I still cannot even see my exam history.
Absolute joke of an institution who loves to preach about a code of ethics it doesn't itself follow.
I paid $999 for a online certificate class through them. It was a waste of money. The sound quality of the recorded lectures was so poor that at times you could not hear what the person was saying. If this is an example of Grant Thornton's quality of work, then it's best to stay away from them.
Tried to renew my FLP membership but it will not let me "Oops! Technical glitch. Please try again." I had my Case study exam I had booked for May cancelled as wont let me renew. And now it is just call after call to them for them to tell me a ticket is raised and has been escalated with IT to resolve. I just want to pay them and get on with studying. Terrible service.... And no end in sight.
In 2015 I was confirmed to have my exemptions, but due to their system "migrating" I have completely lost all history. They have then made this a problem for me, rather than apologising and resolving it, I have been told I will need to create a new account and reapply for all the exemptions, which if I remember from the past, cost me money to apply for as I had to pay as if I had sat the exams. Genuinely terrible customer service too.
Bad customer service.
I stopped studying CIMA and keep receiving emails from them I amended all my settings in my account to not bee contacted.
I also spoke in online chat with CIMA adviser who said that he will remove my subscription and I will not be contacted anymore I received 2 emails since that day about the subscription.
There is no email address to contact CIMA only AICPA and when you contact them they say they don't deal with CIMA
Awfully rude customer service. This company know that anyone who wants to gain themselves the CIMA qualification must pay a memebership fee of £90 a year, this is justified with a 'support network' of advisors to help. CIMA have admitted liabilitiy with an issue with me over a month ago and promised me this would be resolved or fixed. I am now being ignored on all email addresses used previsouly and any publicly available ones. I was just left on hold for 50 mins in attempt to get me off the line.
I have been unable to book exams due to their error and I've had to call for over an hour multiple times to resolve an issue they said would be fixed in 3 days over a month ago. Honestly I have never experienced service like this, if you arent yet started on the journey after AAT. DO NOT PICK CIMA DO ACCA
