Price gouging!
Our tank was at 35%. We scheduled a delivery but was given dates after this weekend’s expected ice storm. We were told to escalate the delivery it would cost $300. That’s unethical! We will be changing companies!
Excessive charges not agreed upon
Service Dispatch Charge in the amount of $119.99 and the Tank Removal Fee in the amount of $299.99. These charges are to be applied upon the termination of my service with AmeriGas. These charges were not agreed upon and customer service states they can amend and change your contract as they please with no notification.
Driver did not follow directions of not…
Driver did not follow directions of not driving on driveway. Instead he pulled into driveway and onto wet grass leaving 2 big tire tracks not once but twice. He then walked in the mud he created and across our sidewalk leaving muddy footprints so he knew he had done this. Then he backed around the driveway leaving muddy tracks. Once he delivered the 100 gallons getting air in the tank he left. Within 12 hours our hot water tank would not self ignite so we had no hot water which is the first thing the propane is used for. This has never happened in the 15 years we have had propane delivered. I called AmeriGas and filed two complaints and heard nothing back from them. I paid a plumber $100 to find out AmeriGas caused the hot water heater to shut down for 4 days .We had top soil put in the tire tracks and tried to wash the mud off sidewalk and driveway before our company arrived. No customer service from AmeriGas and have been waiting to hear from local delivery team. Do not use this poor service company that can’t follow directions and don’t return calls. This is lousy customer service and no support. I am owed a refund for this poor service.
Amerigas scam
We’ve had this company for about six years unfortunately we did not know that their tank was leaking. That being said our bill was twice as much for many years. This is a tank that we are renting and paying them to maintain. They should be checking it every fill up and they never did. We were gone for several months and our bill was still extremely high so we called to ask why? they determined it was due to the leaking tank. We asked them for a discount and they refused. They do not maintain their tanks and charge you for a service not rendered. Now they want to charge us $400 to pick up a tank that has cost us thousands of dollars in losses. We have found another company and our new tank is brand new and looks beautiful.
if you are reading this, I recommend you call Pacific Coast propane their prices are half as much tanks are beautifully maintained, and they give respectful service!
Terrible customer service
We have had a tank since 2009, not used much and during this time we pay rent on the tank, we decided we would not use AmeriGas and called them to pick up the tank and was told it would cost $450. To pick the tank up, we tried to buy the tank and they would not sale it! I told him paying that much for a tank that we didn’t have to pay to get was unfair, he told me that was what they charge and they would send the bill and I could deal with it and finance charges would be added to any unpaid balance. We did not get the tank from AmeriGas we got the tank from Greer Gas who sold to AmeriGas. This is not fair that they charge you a ridiculous amount when you no longer need service.
Crooks
Crooks! Tanks are outdated! Propane overpriced! Don’t try to cancel they will deliver even if you canceled. Then when you say come pick your tank up we’ve done something else they will charge you $500 to pick the tank up. Absolutely craziness! How is this allowed!!
Paid 389 to have propane delivered…
Paid 389 to have propane delivered December 18th. Today is Dec 22 and still no delivery. Called and she told me to pay 300 more and I can have it delivered today. I already paid 389.00 and it was suppose to be delivered. She said the driver didn't do his delivery last week and 3 others also didn't get their propane and I would get a discount and they would fill ut Saturday. We'll havent got a delivery at all.....Today she said 300 more for delivery today and hung up on me. Very poor service and customer service.

Is there a negative star? I switched companies 2 months ago. I cannot even begin to tell you how negative their service is. DO NOT SWITCH no matter how bad the current company is. They said they were switching CS from India to US-Lie, and it is the WORST Indian CS center I hv dealt with, worse than ATT. The install was a complete cluster f. The billing was 250 MORE than quoted, the install dates were MISSED MULTIPLE X'S. Now when I try to sign into my account I cannot get to the bill until I SIGN A 3 YEAR AGREEMENT. I can tell you like I told the awful call center I WILL NEVER SIGN IT AND I WILL NOT PAY A termination fee-never told to me upon signing up. I could say more but you get the deal. Good luck.
AmeriGas is horrible
AmeriGas is horrible. I paid them close to $1.1K around 24 Nov, its 11 Dec and have yet to get my gas. The first time they reschedule was because of snow... (ok, I guess, but we ARE in Alaska). Then when they finally come up, they say they can't deliver because of the snow in the driveway.... (again, we are in Alaska). Then I tried to reschedule on-line, can't, have to call the service center which is "international" and can barely understand them Then I spent approx. 40 minutes over the phone, at work, trying to get a reschedule. There is no reason, in 2025, it should take that long. Zero stars.

Amerigas price gouges poor and economically disadvantaged ON THANKSGIVING, charging them $150 to "close the account" when they decide to close your account when you don't fill your tank as often as they think you should. They then refer to "it's in the contract," and refuse to change any of these practices. They charge rental home clients after these clients left their rental homes beyond controllable circumstances. HORRIBLE STAY AWAY!
What "Customer Service"?
Not sure how to rate "Customer Service". There is none. On the website chat feature with a live human I'm asked 13 questions about the account and am then told she isn't able to service my call because I'm in Vermont. "Here, call this number." Unbelievable. Same thing when I looked up a Vermont location and called the number listed. The person I spoke with said she couldn't help because Vermont was handled from a different number. Also unbelievable.
AmeriGas, beware of hidden fees and decitful tactics. Also worst customer service ever.
I just cancelled my account with AmeriGas and found out I would be billed $299- for pickup of their 120 gallon propane tank plus a $112 order service fee. I was told I agreed to this in the terms and conditions I signed....
Initially, AmeriGas took a 500 gallon propane tank I owned and installed their 120 gallon tank. I thought I was trading... but they've been billing me rental fees for years.
AmeriGas is a terrible and dishonest company. Find someone local and honest to buy from.
Avoid AmeriGas!
Avoid AmeriGas, their pricing is outrageous. We just got ripped off paying $4.989 per gallon plus charges for HazMat and Fuel Recovery on the delivery. We also had to wait about 10 days for the delivery. I just called another local propane company and their price is $3.39 per gallon.
According to the BBC, there is a lawsuit in Michigan against AmeriGas for similar issues.

This is the biggest scam around! I called to report a gas leak at my home and the next thing I know, They bill me over $800 for a house call that lasted just over 2 hours. I did not authorize this work nor did they contact me before their rep showed up at my house. For this gas guy, they charged me $350/hr! When i called in to negotiate something more reasonable, they treated me like dirt and said they were not willing to help me.
AmeriGas, extortion, lack of service, unsafe business practices
AmeriGas is a company that should lose their license. Their service people do not check for gas leaks. They do not allow you to speak to anyone but a call center in Africa. My regulator was leaking. Probably for about a year, and a decent service person would have smelled the leak. Took over a week to get an appointment, but then the service person did not show. I usually fill my 120 gallon tank twice a year. This last 12 months, was filled 5 times and we were out of the country for a third of that time.
Their customer service is worse than Xfinity
Their customer service is worse than Xfinity. National Call Center? It is not “national” at all. It is “international” and they, without a doubt, have a script they follow. I was trying to get a new tank installed next to my existing one. I have called several times and was told “service has been scheduled, someone will reach out”. So far that has not happened. So I am switching providers. Now comes the process of getting their tank removed. Based on existing reviews, it could take a LONG time. DON’T do business with this company

Don’t I repeat Don’t ever use Amerigas they are a total rip off , we have had their services for 10 years leasing a tank and want to cancel , upon calling I find out it’s a fee totaling $500 to have it removed , mind you to set up and deliver was absolutely free , WTF I have never heard of that . I ask to speak to a mgr and was told to read their terms and agreements it’s in there, there was nothing they could do ….bullshit . Don’t recommend them at all.

We signed up with a local propane company in Springdale, Arkansas over 20 years ago. Within the last 2 years, Amerigas acquired that local company and implemented their processes and prices.
Recently, requested a tank fill and was told it would be completed at the "current market price". After the fill was complete, i received the invoice and was shocked at the price per gallon, $3.06/gallon. I inquired with other local propane companies and was told the going local rate was approximately $1.70/gallon. After some back and forth with Amerigas, I decided to discontinue by business with them. Contacting the correct support help was excruciating and took multiple calls to their OFFSHORE support office to get to someone who could understand what I was requesting and that I could understand their spoken English. On the fifth call, I was successful at closing my account. When asked if I wanted to schedule a pick up time for the Amerigas leased propane tank, I found out there would be a $500 service visit and tank pickup fee. I refused the appointment and made other, much cheaper arrangements by a local individual to pickup and deliver the tank to the local Amerigas service center.
AmeriGas is not civic minded
AmeriGas is not civic minded, does not care about its longstanding customers. When they went to a centralized system, the quality of the firm went down, they have no technicians to service the equipment that people purchased from them, and have flaky people handling their consumer advocacy department. I have not had hot water in weeks because AmeriGas has not filled up my tank and it is below 16 percent so I had to put everything on pilot. Usually, AmeriGas refills the tank when it gets to 30 percent.
AmeriGas refuses to put me on budget billing for the summer due to their criteria. I have a seasonal job with less work hours during the summer, so I cannot pay up front during the summer. I paid up front for more than 26 years plus paid for furnaces and when they did maintenance of the equipment I purchased over the years. I used HEAP the past two years since becoming a senior. They have always gotten paid. Now, they will not even put a minimum amount of 100 gallons in the tank and bill me, budget bill me. Since it is their AmeriGas tank, another propane company will not refill the tank. AmeriGas has 100 dollars in my account, and they will not fill my tank with 100 dollars of propane because it is below the minimum that would be around 238 dollars more.
I am a senior with several chronic conditions, and it is difficult to become healthy with such abusive companies and lack of social services. HEAP emergency payments is not open because of missing funds and DOGE. How is this basic civility or decency in society?
This has gone on since May, and the AmeriGas Consumer Advocacy department has done nothing to help the matter and they only called me and emailed me because I sent a complaint about AmeriGas to the NYS governor's office, but so far my propane is not scheduled to be delivered.
I had planned to pay in advance but my federal tax refund is late. I should be receiving unemployment benefits because I am working less hours during the summer, but they have not fully processed my claim even though I filed at the end of June. Here it is August--no federal tax refund yet, no unemployment benefits yet...no hot water.

Zero stars, takes forever to deliver propane, charges random fees, signed me up for automatic delivery without my consent (when I told them up front I was only using as backup and wouldn’t need regular fills), charged huge fees when I had enough of the random bills and collection calls due to random bills and finally cancelled them. Sent me back to collections 12 days from final bill. Do not deal with these people, they are liars and thief’s and you’re stuck with them for years of grief if you do!
