Mid Devon Council were trying to charge me Business rates on my equestrian property, even though it was just our family home, and had never been used for business purposes, and when I phoned them to complain there were very unhelpful.

I believed I was paying too much in business rates and after a quick Google search came across Appeal My Rates and gave them a call. They were very helpful in explaining the process and within a couple of days someone came to inspect our property and they confirmed my thoughts and explained the ways in which they believed the rateable value could be reduced. They then went away and formalised this and I only needed to give them access to my VOA account as an agent of ours and that was the extent of my input. It took a while due to covid back logs with the VOA but eventually (after a year) I heard back and they reduced my rates by a significant amount. Making back the amount I paid Appeal My Rates back within a couple of months with my new reduced rates bill. Very much recommended.

I contacted appealmyrates because the Council had made an inaccurate listing which was accepted by the VOA.
In a very short space of time the job was done and I can’t recommend appealmyrates highly enough. They were brilliant.

We approached Appeal My Rates to review our business rates. The surveyors were very friendly and helpful, working well with us in gathering the information required. We then sat back and waited for the results. We were kept up to date with what the Valuation Office were doing (do not expect this stage to happen quickly . . . ). Then the results!
Needless to say a positive result always helps, but whatever the result, we would have been happy with the thorough service we received from Appeal My Rates.

At the end of last year, I received a business rate tax on a building that had been destroyed in a fire and rendered unusable before I bought it.
Because of the existence of the building on the VOA list, the council urged me to pay taxes for the past 6 years, and VOA did not work smoothly due to Covid-19, and I fell into a desperate state.
However, over the past year, Appealmyratesuk has continued to communicate with the council to defer the tax deadline, and with his expertise, he has worked hard until the end, raising the issue with the VOA.
After all, recently I succeeded in getting a tax exemption.
