TL;DR
Unprofessional and disappointing experience: two months with no quote, poor communication, and constant delays.
----------
My girlfriend and I initially booked an appointment with AG’s showroom on 17/03/2025 to view their Roseview timber-alternative sash windows. Unfortunately, the experience was deeply disappointing from the outset. James Killigrew, the sales manager, arrived late, and we had to go up to the first floor to fetch him. He did not seem particularly interested in presenting the windows or answering our questions; in fact, we had to do most of the questioning ourselves to extract any useful information.
During our brief, 20-minute interaction, we were handed an outdated brochure for the Roseview windows and were promptly sent on our way. In contrast, other companies took the time to thoroughly present their products, provide useful advice, and address our queries. This felt like a complete lack of effort on Mr Killigrew’s part.
The real disappointment began when we submitted the necessary information for a quote. We provided detailed measurements, photos, and specifications in the form of a spreadsheet the following day, even breaking the project down into three separate quotes to make it easier for Mr Killigrew to process. Despite our efforts, all we received in return were excuses for the delay. Mr Killigrew initially told us that it would take 2-3 days to prepare the quote. Nearly two months have now passed since we first met with Mr Killigrew, and no quote has been sent.
Every time we chased him up, there was a new reason for the delay: he was out of the office, he could not review the details because our spreadsheet was "too specific", or he had sent the request to Roseview and was waiting for them, but when we asked when, he could not remember and simply said it had been “a few days back”. Later, we contacted Roseview directly and were told that they had never received any request from Mr Killigrew. This was a significant red flag. At this point, we began questioning whether we were being deliberately ignored.
What was even more disappointing was that Mr Killigrew did not have the courtesy to respond to our follow-up emails or give us a call, leaving us in a state of uncertainty. The complete lack of communication and transparency was incredibly exasperating and, frankly, rude. Even if there were legitimate reasons for the delays, such as illness or a heavy workload, a simple acknowledgment or update would have gone a long way in maintaining a level of professionalism.
To put this into perspective, we contacted three other companies for quotes, and all of them were far more professional and responsive. Despite the impending Early May Bank Holiday, one company even provided a quote on the same day they visited our property, while the others delivered their quotes within a week. One company even sent us three separate quotes for different products they could offer, including Roseview windows. All these companies took the time to visit our home to take accurate measurements, and one of them even brought product samples. How is it that other companies managed to work with Roseview and respond without delay, while AG seemed unable to make any progress at all?
At the end of the day, we are relieved we did not proceed with AG. If this is how they treat potential customers before the sale, we can only imagine how problematic it would have been after we had made a substantial financial commitment. This has been an incredibly stressful experience, and we would not recommend AG or James Killigrew to anyone.
While we prefer not to leave negative reviews, as we understand things do not always go perfectly, we feel it is important to share our experience so that others can make an informed decision before investing their hard-earned money. If you are seeking a reliable window installer, we would strongly suggest looking elsewhere.
I would highly recommend Associated Glass for the professional service, quality of products, price, fitting and communication when fitting 10 windows to my house. From my initial discussions with James, who was very knowledgeable, Lauren who was always helpful in answering queries and providing the administrative support to Peter who visited more than once to carry out surveys and Martyn and Ollie who fitted the windows with minimal disruption thank you. My wife and I are extremely pleased with the job you have completed and the windows look great.
Associated Glass installed Roseview sash windows on my Victorian terraced house in February 2023 and it’s been an absolute nightmare from the start.
Long lead-time - It took 21 weeks for the windows to arrive at my house after I’d paid a 50% deposit and I was fed a steady stream of excuses for the delays including a previously undisclosed additional lead time on the colour option (that I’d specified at the outset), the loss of their main fitting team and then the loss of their replacement fitting team just 6 weeks later.
Wrong specification - When the windows eventually arrived on site, they had a different finish to the one I specified and had re-confirmed at multiple points throughout the ordering process. Associated Glass initially tried to place the blame on the window manufacturer (Roseview) but when I contacted Roseview, it quickly transpired that Associated Glass were to blame for ordering the wrong specification. Worryingly, I’ve been made aware of the same thing happening to another Associated Glass customer in our local area who also ordered Roseview windows.
Subcontracted fitters – despite verbal assurances from Associated Glass that their fitters were employees of the company, the first set of fitters who arrived told us they’d never done any work for Associated Glass before and had got the job “off a guy on Facebook”.
Badly packaged – The windows were badly packaged with nothing but sticky tape on the flat surfaces and nothing protecting the edges or corners meaning there were numerous visible chips and scuffs on each window that had to be repaired.
Product/service issues that still remain - The Roseview sash windows installed by Associated Glass let in significant drafts, the sash cords on a number of windows have detached (leaving the top sashes unsupported), the painted finish has scratched off in multiple places and the external window trim has separated allowing water into the insulation surrounding the frames.
I raised a complaint to Associated Glass in April 2023 about the drafts but they made minimal effort to try and resolve this problem, instead blaming Roseview’s product so I complained to Roseview directly. Since then, the other issues have emerged - Roseview have attempted to resolve some of these but the issues remain and they have now relinquished all responsibility, blaming everything on the installation undertaken by Associated Glass. Associated Glass (who still operate as an approved installer for Roseview) blame the issues on Roseview’s product defects - leaving me stuck in the middle with no apparent recourse. All of this has caused me a significant amount of stress and inconvenience and I’m left with poor quality windows that are totally unfit for purpose.
