I want to talk about Ikaros II
I want to talk about Ikaros II. I took delivery of these towards the end of June and I’ve worn them practically every day since. This style of shoe is what I have been longing for, for such a long time. I wanted a chunky looking mule that is made of leather/suede, and these meet my requirements. As I have fairly low volume feet, I expected these to pucker when I tightened the buckles and straps, but actually, this did not happen and I am able to get the perfect fit without compromising on fit. I can say that these are true to size as per their own individual size chart and I’m hoping to buy a further pair in a different colour at some point. The insole is also made of leather and has the tiniest bit of cushioning which makes them delightful to wear. They are true barefoot, and whilst they do have that chunky aesthetic to them, the sole is ridiculously flexible. I’ve had quite a lot of interaction via instagram with Tiago and others regarding the shipment and import duties to UK and have found the whole team to be extremely helpful. Delivery took 10 days to UK but I purchased them when Portugal had a flurry of national bank holidays which pushed the delivery back a few days. But all in all I’ve had a great experience purchasing from barebound and will be on the look out for a second purchase very soon. It’s not often when you stumble upon a decent brand, but this is definitely one of them. I do find them pricy compared to other offerings, however, these met my needs 100% in terms of materials and styling and are inline with Birkenstock pricing for similar styles shoes. I am expecting them to last a long time, especially as the upper is not man made. I know this won’t sit well with others, however I know that man made materials and fabric degrade rapidly and add to the microplastics in the ecosystem, leather and other natural materials do not, plus they last longer. I’d much rather invest in quality than purchase multiple times
