**Beware of long-term contractual commitments – my experience with BrightHR**
I am a director of a UK limited company and have been a BrightHR customer.
My experience has been extremely disappointing, particularly regarding how contractual commitments were presented during the sales process.
The services were discussed with me in terms of monthly payments. I do not recall the sales representatives explaining that the payroll agreement involved a five-year commitment or that the HR agreement involved lengthy automatic renewals and strict cancellation deadlines.
I subsequently discovered that BrightHR considered my company bound to a payroll agreement running until January 2031, alongside an HR agreement subject to further two-year renewals.
The payroll agreement I signed does contain a 60-month term. My complaint is about how that commitment was presented during the sale, rather than denying that the wording appears in the document.
BrightHR has confirmed that its payroll service never went live and that no payroll submissions were made to HMRC. Nevertheless, it maintains that contractual payments are due.
Despite repeated correspondence, I remain dissatisfied with how BrightHR has addressed my central complaint about the sales process. Responses have focused heavily on onboarding appointments, outstanding payments and offers of credits.
I have now issued a formal Letter Before Action disputing the contractual liabilities and requesting the original sales evidence.
**My advice to any small business considering BrightHR is to check the entire minimum term, automatic renewal provisions, cancellation deadlines and potential termination liabilities before signing. Do not assume that a monthly price means a monthly contract.**
This is my personal experience of an ongoing contractual dispute, which has not yet been resolved.

Efficient and great service
This process was very efficient and smooth. As a small business, understanding the legal side of employers can be tricky but Scarlett made it as simple as it can be to understand.
A very friendly individual and created my documents for my business very quickly!

Excellent service
Even though i could not use Teams to conduct the meeting the call I had with Gary was excellent. He went through BrighrHr and Bright Safe. He explained each category thoroughly and I was even able to do a demonstration of how some of the features work. I was very impressed with the service I received and would highly recommend them for their professionalism and service.

So good to talk to a human! AI might be quick, but it doesn't always 'get' the nuances of a problem without excessive explanation. I spoke on the phone to Callum at BrightHR - also super quick - and was incredibly helpful with my query about the operation of the highly useful Performance Review console. Callum calmly talked me through how to share my screen, identified the problem and the solution immediately -problem solved! Very pleased!
