Carol gave me the confidence that I needed to get over my panic attacks and anxiety. She was personable, honest & knowledgeable. She taught me many techniques that I would never have thought of but truly work. Felt like I’d tried everything and nothing worked but I do feel like I have my life back on track thanks to Carol.

A year ago I was in a low place, very emotional and restless mind. I couldn't rationalise and was loosing trust in myself. I knew I needed to do something and so looked up counselling services near me and came across Carol. From my first email Carol was so easy to talk to, friendly and had such a calming presence. I only had three maybe four sessions but my goodness did they totally work, Carol taught me a few simple techniques to be practising at home and whilst in the sessions allowed me to be open and explore the emotions I was feeling with no judgement but with perspective. I went to my first session thinking I needed help in so many areas but actually working on my self esteem and confidence in trusting my own decision making has actually helped me in all the areas.
I had my last session at the end of march but was holding off writing my review as I was concerned that as winter approached I would fall back, I time I used to love but for a few years really struggled with, but instead I have felt the excitement of the festive season and have been able to enjoy this time of year again. The only emotion was the realisation that the last few years I was unwell but that now I was better and that was a huge relief. I have no doubt there will be times that are hard again but I have the techniques Carol taught me and I know Carol is just an email or call away. Thank you Carol

Carol led the MHFA course that I recently completed, Carol shared great knowledge and experience. The course was delivered in a calm and caring manner.

Carol was our trainer on a Metal Health First Aid Course. She shared her knowledge and experience freely with the group and steered the course through difficult topics with ease and care. A first rate and professional trainer - I do not hesitate in recommending her.

I attended MHFA Training for which Carol was the instructor. She was really great , her ability to share real life experiences made the training so interesting, the time flew by. It can sometimes be difficult delivering this sort of training over IT platforms but Carol ensuredtgat everyone was engaged , thank you!

Carol very kindly offered to work with me, as I’d been suffering from chronic pain for the past two years, sadly with no diagnosis, which was having a negative impact my personal and professional life.

I rarely write reviews however following working with the incredible Carol Hickson I felt compelled to do so. Carol has transformed my mental state and well-being. Although I warmed to Carol immediately, such a lovely and sincere person, I was honestly a little sceptical about how the therapy she offered would work. However, we got talking about my personal situation and Carol convinced me (in conversation not pushing) to book a session with her.

Like most people I've been on a bit of a rollercoaster with my mental health - particularly during the pandemic which exacerbated my situation.

I worked with Carol for several weeks, both individually and in a series of small group sessions. At the time I was suffering from anxiety due to issues with my youngest son and a stressful job. This had been building and ignored by me for several years, until I finally realised I wasn't coping. I found Carol to be empathetic and intelligent; she was an excellent support and coach, and the range of techniques and guidance she offered were very successful. The sessions were both extremely useful but also relaxing and enjoyable; I did not miss a single one! To this day, I use what Carol taught me, and her written materials have accompanied me to Vietnam, where I currently live and work; indeed, I doubt I would have made that move without her help. I would recommend Carol very highly!
I am now reading her book, which is giving me further insight, and is excellent. I will provide further review when I have finished reading!

I attended a therapy session with Carol recently and she used a number of techniques to get to the real root of the difficulties I have had. Whilst she was very empathetic, the session was quite light and I was able to put aside and move on from issues that I had been carrying round for many years.

Carol came to do a short introduction to tapping with an art group I was running. The group were looking at good mental health using crochet and other things to help lift mood. I found it really moving. Just a little simple tapping and thinking seemed to open up emotions. Carol cares about those she works for and is a calming force.
