terrible communication with regard to coverage. they called all the time, which was great, but every time was a different story. a 3400.00 bill for radiator, thermostat, only had 191.00 coverage paid. very disappointing, they do not cover labor, coolant flush, or any labor. makes no sense

These people offered me their insurance plan, it started at 149.99 per month and before I got off the phone with them it went down to 103.00 per month, for my 2014 Silverado Z-71, I read their reviews and they are shit too, Beware of this company and ice tea you should be ashamed of yourself for even getting in TV fighting for the sale of their bullshit service, they always find a technically on why your vehicle isn't covered, further more no one takes this instance either because carshield tries to tell the garage what they'll pay not what the Costs of the repairs are, then the garage says nope they are trying to dictate to us what it costs so to the customer you need to take that up with carshield yourself but you owe this amount of money if you want your vehicle back, I'm just looking at it if this was my Mom buying this coverage from them and she's on a fixed income what a damn rip off, SMH carshield has been sued for thousands in quite a few class action law suits, be careful because I'm sure they'll change their name of the company and keep right on doing this to folks,

When you see them advertising on TV it looks amazing, an experience smooth as ice, right? Far from it! We brought our truck in for an engine issue. We had to agree to pay to have the engine torn down, regardless of what Carshield would eventually pay for ($1,900+/-). After 3/4 more weeks of having our mechanic take videos and submit them, they then decided to send their own inspector out. Ironically, Carshield will only approve 1 hr of diagnostic work, yet they want the customer to be prepared to pay for the engine to be torn down/removed from the vehicle and have the mechanic spend countless hours diagnosing it. There is no rental car coverage until you have an approved claim, so you are on your own until they approve a claim. They shorted us on our rental car coverage on a repair from a few months ago, so we were not even going to bother this time. When I pointed it out to Carshield, the rep said 'oh, that ticket is closed, we can't reopen it'... well isn't that special!
The claim they approved was $3,000+ short of what it would have cost to repair the engine issue. It covered about 55% of the repair. They would not approve having all of the parts the mechanic recommended for the repair. The engine had 117,000 miles on it, yet Carshield wanted all valves reused - even the bent ones! There were other parts that they wanted reused that the mechanic was not comfortable with reusing.
I called to discuss this with Carshield and they refused to look at the estimate my mechanic gave me to do the job. The lady said there system would not accept it or it was a policy or something like that. Well isn't that special! She offered to call my mechanic and have him explain it to me. He already had and it went like this - I cannot repair your vehicle for what they will pay. The vehicle will need new valves and other parts they will not cover. I then asked to speak with the person who prepared and approved the estimate, but there policy said that was not possible. I eventually found the email to the estimator and asked him- simply to be ignored! Well isn't that special!
Another thing Carshield loves to say is - did you read your contract? They refer to it every chance they get and expect you to have a photographic memory from having read it when you signed up. I may not remember the contract, but I know what you advertise. The ads make it seem like only a fool would not have Carshield, that you will never pay an expensive claim with Carshield as they will cover you, that major repairs are covered and that Carshield just helps people! Far from it!!!!!
It took almost 5 weeks for them to approve $5,148.78 of a $8,460.93 repair. So at the end of the day, it took almost 40 days from the time we dropped our car off to get an approval, the approval was $3,300 short and there is nothing you can do about it but complain after the fact!
If I could go with no stars I would. This company and those like it are a scam. I had an oil leak that just started and took it to the shop. I then was told it was going to be a big job and because 2 quarts short out of 5 total my car holds, Car shield would not cover it. So I am done with them. I am anal about keeping up with repairs and maintenance and to be told it was my fault. Car Scam will never be a company I would go with.
I am so very disappointed in Car Shield. My car has been at the dealer for 8 days. The last 6 days waiting for an inspector to show up to approve the replacement of my evaporator for my cars A/C and a window switch. I have called numerous times, being on hold for a 1/2 hour or more. The staff answering are nice and empathetic but it doesn't seem to be able to do anything to really help. They document everything and Car Shield does nothing. I'm beginning to question my purchase. Have sent them $1,000.00 already and my first claim has not been satisfied for 8 days.
Called for a quote and that’s it. Even told the sales rep that I wasn’t willing to sign up because I wanted to shop around and he just continued to push a sale down my throat had to continue to remind him I’m NOT willing to sign up today but maybe at a later date if they are as good as they say there are and then the rep started talking to me like I knew nothing and the difference from insurance and this coverage. Due to that rude and just pushing for the sale put a bad taste in my mouth like they care more about my money then they would care for me. And that’s before they even get my money.
