The great thing about catechism.com is that you can take classes at your own pace. There is no time-line, or pressure. I took another Catholic correspondance course prior to this one, but I found it a little biased toward the author's opinions and their particular lineage of Catholicism, for example (Franciscan, Dominican, Benedictine, etc) although I won't mention which one in this review. I found catechism.com less biased and much more in-depth than my previous course although some of the classes were somewhat repetitive. I took the Adult Faith Formation level 1 course that took me a good 2+ years to complete and earn a certificate due to my busy schedule. I also took some 'elective' courses along the way, which were a lot shorter than the Adult Formation program. The prices are very reasonable, with some elective courses costing about $30. The Adult Formation course is only cost $100. To me that is an absolute steal considering the amount of information being offered ! I learned so much from taking this course, I mean things that I never knew about, or took for granted when it came to the Catholic/Christian religion ! After each class there is a short quiz to further increase your learning and retention. A minimum passing grade of 65% is required, otherwise you have to take the class over again. The quizzes are not really that hard if you concentrate on what you have read and not just browse the material. Some questions require you to reason instead of just going by memory. *Now the bad. Some of the classes use archaic, overly complex and flowery words, making the text difficult to read. I often had to read some chapters over and over (with a dictionary) to gain a clear understanding. I understand that this might be the 'Lingo' of Priests and the Clergy, but for the average Lay person, I found the use of this language totally unecessary. I already mentioned that some classes were quite repetitive. Also, some of the questions on the quiz at the end of each class, felt as if they were purposely written to try to stump students, rather than to check what they had learned and/or retained. The answer(s) were usually hidden in some obscure part of the text, or in one of the videos that were part of the class. There were some classes that were basically 70% or more cut-and paste passages from the Bible, thrown in there as 'fill', with another 10-15% of the lesson comprising of prayers. Overall the courses in catechism.com were very helpful in building my faith however. Some dogmas I could not totally agree with, despite the chuches insistence that we should, as good and faithfull Catholics. Otherwise, I found the program extremely indepth, enjoyable and plan to continue taking couses from there. Currently, I'm taking a few elective courses, but plan to move up to a more advanced level of the Adult Formation program in the near future.

I found out about CatechismClass through a Facebook Group. After doing research and reviews, I decided that I would utilize them to supplement my current OCIA class. After reviewing the options of modules myself, I found the Adult All Access Pass to be the best value... but I was concerned that it was missing two modules that I felt should have been included. I reached out to them via their Contact Us page, (this was also an excellent way to gauge how responsive their representatives would be) to alert them to what I was seeing and to seek clarification & confirmation. To my surprise, I received a reply to my email within an hour or so and the reply I received was well written and personal. To my surprise, the reply I received came from the President of the company and after a few back and forth emails, they provided the clarification and confirmation I needed solidified my choice.

So far I have completed a few modules and I am very pleased with the content and layout of how the modules are done. From the classes I have accessed and completed, I can tell you that I really enjoy the audio that accompanies each portion, along with the ability to speed up or slow down the audio. The courses I have taken thus far seem to have been thoughtfully laid out, with lots of references and commentary where appropriate.
I also enjoy the visuals that accompany the lessons and the ability to take quizzes that actually ask questions that require understanding the material and not just "common sense" questions that are easily guessed.
I purchased the Adult All Access Pass because it made sense to me and the path that I am on. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND anyone looking into joining the Catholic Church, going through OCIA or missed the current OCIA cycle but want to do the work beforehand (i.e. have a great foundation from which local OCIA classes could or would add to and/or supplement... OR if you are in a location where there is not an easily accessible option to take in-person OCIA classes but want a well laid out program that provides Great material, quizes you on actually understanding the material, and provides a path (though you could amend it as needed) of coursework/modules to take... CatechismClass is an EXCELLENT option. By the Way, my local parish has Formed and I am registered and use the material on there as well. Formed has Excellent material in bite-sized and easily digestible form... my issue was that I wanted a way to test my understanding and to track my progress, FORMED is really easy to push play and not really be paying attention or get sidetracked (which could happen with any program, but happens a lot less when you pay for it... I make sure to make the time and "get my moneys worth" when it actually costs me a little)

I chose CatechismClass.com because as a working mom of 3 under the age of 3 I really needed something flexible with my work and mom schedule. I’m so glad to have completed this program and I worked alongside my parish for support through the course.

This website is a scam. Classes cost 3-4x as much as other online equivalents, and they do not disclose that once you complete the course they will hold you hostage for a separate "online certificate processing fee"! What if you want that auto-generated certificate sent to you in a timely manner? That'll be another $15! Moreover, the baptism course will spend more time trying to shame you into never voting a certain way than it will actually discussing the meaning and importance of baptism. As a life-long Catholic who genuinely believes in the dignity of all human life, this overpriced, divisive course made me signficantly less confident in my decision to baptize my son. If you want a course that is going to reflect the welcoming and inclusive nature the Church is meant to embody, look ANYWHERE but here.

I purchased CatechismClass.com’s Baptism Preparation Course specifically because I had been asked to serve as a godfather. The website repeatedly advertises the course as being for “godparents and parents” and highlights receiving a certificate of completion. However, nowhere during the purchase process did I see a clear disclosure that Catholic godparents must already be baptized Catholics and that completing the course does not determine eligibility.

I only learned after purchasing the course that I was categorically ineligible to serve as a godfather. Had this been clearly disclosed beforehand, I never would have purchased the course.

When I contacted customer service and explained that I had stopped using the course immediately, they refused to issue a refund or make any accommodation. Their no-refund policy exists, but it is buried within the Terms and Conditions rather than being prominently disclosed during the purchasing process.

My issue is not with Catholic doctrine, but with the lack of transparency and the unwillingness to provide reasonable customer service. I would encourage prospective customers to verify all parish and eligibility requirements before purchasing and to carefully review the Terms and Conditions.

There are hidden costs, $50 is already a lot for a marriage course with three parts. You have to pay a "certificate processing fee" in order to get your certificate for the course afterwards (2-3 days afterwards), which is $10. My fiance accidentally bought both the processing fee and the expedited one--which gives you your certificate within 24 hours (instead of instantly after you complete the class)--and they refused to offer a refund. I asked them for a place to write a review and the representative did not return the email.

Other than that, it is not an easy interface to continue learning from online. There isn't an easy link where you can jump between the sections in a given lesson, you have you manually skip through the 20+ slides yourself. Would not recommend them, ever.

We found our marriage prep courses to be comprehensive and easy to understand! The narration feature made the courses easy to follow along with and the time commitment was very reasonable. Highly recommended!

I would highly recommend taking these courses because I didn’t feel pressured at all to have the course completed in a certain time frame especially with a very busy schedule! The staff was great and was always getting back with just a couple of hours when I had questions or to move forward in the process! Overall it was a fantastic experience and I am so excited and grateful for what is to come in this journey with God!!!

I am new to the Catholic faith and felt like a sponge in learning all I could about the beliefs, Sacraments, history, and Jesus. I most enjoy the depth of the learning, at my own pace, and the support of those who run the courses.

Thorough and practical, and devoid of jargon. The marriage prep course was very helpful.

Used this to supplement my Adult Faith Formation class ran by my Parrish. Because of the syllabus and structure of this course, there wasn’t a single topic that was brought up in our class that I was not able to add meaningful discussion to. Can you find all of the material in this course elsewhere? Yes you can, but it will not be organized, track your progress, and quiz you like Catechismclass.com. Is it time consuming? Yes, but most traditional RCIA courses take 8-12 months anyway whereas this program takes on average 2 months, I finished in a little over 3 since I was in no rush. Does it promote a more “Conservative” style Catholicism? Perhaps, but as a new member to a faith you should perhaps familiarize yourself with the opinions of those who have been living it their whole lives before complaining and adding your input.

The program was most excellent and I enjoyed it tremendously. I learned more and more within each lesson. The presentation was perfect and easy to follow. My only suggestion is a little proof reading for misspelling I thought they might be words of old confused me a little but after research found them to be simple mistakes.

This changed my life and the customer service is excellent.

This program was thorough and I learned so much. I enjoyed it and the content was very understandable and clear. I highly recommend this program to anyone who wants to learn more about the Catholic faith. This may very well be one of the best things I have ever done.

We used this for Confirmation. We used the Young Adult RCIA which was fine. But the Confirmation Preparation less was way overpriced for what it contained. I would advise to skip that one. Also, after all that expense they wanted us to pay even more to get the certificate we earned! No thank you. As you can see by their veiled sarcastic response and fake apologies to my honest experience (under $20 literally means 19.95). They are not close to the heart of Jesus and not authentically Catholic.
