One of the worst estate agents we have ever has the displeasure of dealing with and I worked in property industry for years. Tenants take note, avoid this agent at all costs, or at least ensure you know your rights before entering into ANY agreements, as this agent will abuse them and attempt to reclaim any funds from yourselves anyway they can.

We rented a property for just over 2 years and how we were treated, ignored, and bullied was appalling.
Two months in there was sever black mould and damp issues in all bedrooms, bathroom, and hall, clearly pre-existing, yet the agents claimed otherwise.

They refused to take any reports of problems seriously and had the nerve at one point to pleaded poverty and cash issues on behalf of the Landlords as the reason they were not looked at sooner. We sent countless emails, photos and pointed out the issues on all inspections with no affect.

Upon our exit of the property, we were hit with ridiculous exit demands even with our still outstanding issues and complaints were unresolved. To us it seems they were going to try enforcing us to rectify all issues at the property even though we did not cause them.

Despite the house being professionally cleaned, photos attached, and receipts provided they still without justification tried to take money from our deposit. It took spamming all the Branch Directors I could find and talks of letters to the ombudsman and council before we saw our deposit returned in full by the Branch manager.

Other issues, Health and Safety risks we encountered were:

• Unsafe gas fireplace.
• CO2 Leaks.
• Crumbling exterior window ledges.
• Rotting and rusting windows.
• Blown double glazing windows.
• Faulty exterior lights.
• keys that didn’t work.
• Left without hot water for 3 days due to incorrect details given to contractors.
• The staff we encountered staff are rude, abrupt and unempathetic.
• The contacts we were given for maintenance were unresponsive to emails and calls.

The dwindling review score shows all you need to know about this branch and company. The staff are rude, untrustworthy, unempathetic and will ignore you at every turn to further put you out of pocket and into theirs. Avoid this estate agent.

Worst service they don't care about the complaints we go through them we suffer in short.

Christy and the team in North Swindon have been excellent from start to finish of my flat sale—great communication and clear and concise. Christy had to chase both solicitors to get over the line and did so in a very professional way. Well done, to the Swindon North Branch Sophie, Jordan and Christy!

Right from the start of the sale of our house, the team at Charles Harding Estate Agents could not have been more efficient and helpful. Advertising and viewings went into immediate action after we signed up and within 24 hours our house was on RightMove. Viewings started immediately and after an offer was made, their conveyancing team helped in every way to ensure that matters we needed to deal with were facilitated for quick action. We cannot fault the Estate Agency Service we had and cannot recommend the Charles Harding Team members highly enough.

My wife and I have bought house which was being sold by Charles Harding on behalf of their client. Even though we were the buyers, I felt that they were working closely with us and their clients to speed the sale through as fast as they could. With this in mind and us being the buyers, Charles Harding were always understanding, polite, professional and always ‘on it’ as I like to say, which was brilliant. I was so impressed and will definitely be considering them in the future and have already been singing their praises to people as in my view, one of the best estate agents out there. Appalled at the neglect and lack of responsibility Charles Harding have taken whilst “Fully Managing” our property.

The House was left Filthy, damages to a Newly fitted Kitchen, things left which needed removal, massively over grown Garden costing £600 alone to put right, and more - yet taking no responsibility to replace funds it’s cost to fix, taking nothing from the tenant who left it this way.

They had the Dates that the new tenants would be moving in, and failed to have the House cleaned in time, then refused to have it cleaned because it was being occupied.

One big head ache and it now going through court.

Avoid.

Karen did a sterling job in keeping me updated with developments. Would be happy to recommend.

Viewing a house with Michael as our agent was great. All questions were answered and he made it as smooth as possible. Always answered very quickly to messages. Hope to have Michael again sometime. No complaints at all!

We found Charles Harding very helpful through the whole process of buying and as the agents also for our vendor there was a seamless process to completing our move.

All faults are replied to promptly and subsequent repairs by contractors have been carried out quickly and efficiently. Very happy customer indeed. :)

Since February 2013 In gave my property on a fully Managed basis to the above branch. They were very good in the beginging, but afterwards they starting increasing their rates. If you are a Landlord be Careful and read the terms of contract, do what you want, not what they say. I had a bad experiance as a Landlord.
Do not speak on the phone, always send an email and get an answer via email. Very bad experiance , can't trust this Estate Agent any more and suggest all Landlords not to approach this Agent anymore.

It has been so easy to work with everyone at Charles Harding. Correspondence has been straightforward and I have always received a response to my emails by the end of the day. It doesn't seem too much trouble to ask questions about my tenants or for them to be contacted throughout a working week. Charles Harding coordinated all the checks on my house, cleaned it through and did all preparations in order for my house to be ready for the rental market. They kept me informed of which tenants were suitable and talked me through the various options I had. I would highly recommend Charles Harding - hassle free, reliable people!

For someone who last used an estate agent to find a rental home around 8 years ago, I was terribly concerned about Charles Harding in Swindon and their approach. I would suggest caution for landlords and tenants alike.
When finding the ideal property on Rightmove, I was told that I couldn't apply to rent this house until I saw the house inside - even though I went to see the house externally and was happy with the appearance and area. So, I went to view at the earliest opportunity offered and was told on the day of enquiry that the landlord was accepting of my offer in principle.
On viewing day, I handed in my application in on paper and was told I would get an answer next day. At that stage, I was the only person viewing as no other viewings were being done and no accepted applications were submitted based upon what the agent was telling me.
Next day; no response came and it took me 2 calls to get an answer. The answer was such a shock.... All of a sudden, the lettings person said that other applications were in (so I was previously lied to) and the landlord accepted another offer.
Oh well..... but hold on! The property continued to be advertised on Rightmove for a further 4 days. So, I called in on day +4 using a different number and enquired about the house, and was then told it was let just 3 hours before on that day (lie number 2).
So, my experience was not great as I was continually lied to, and every attempt I made to be the ideal tenant was blocked by the agent. Did the landlord even know about my application? Why was I being lied to - there didn't seem to be any valid reason to suggest I was the only interested person on viewing day? Why tell me that the house was rented to someone else and was being taken off Rightmove, but then 4 days later tell me that it was then only just agreed to rent to someone that day?
I accept the rental market place has moved on. But my experience with other agents since has been quite different.

We were under tenancy with Charles Harding for two years. During that time, we were very happy with their responsiveness to any of our concerns. We were always met with professionalism and kindness, especially from Marie, who we worked with during our tenancy. I would highly recommend, and would use them again myself if moving back to that area, for letting or buying a property.
