Terrible Experience
I was approached by a Clear representative at the Las Vegas airport. She shepherded me to the front of the TSA line to demonstrate how the benefit works, I explained that I was not a frequent flyer and declined to subscribe. However, 14 days later I was informed that I had a subscription and was charged more than $200. I could not cancel online nor would a Clear telephone representative refund my money after I explained the circumstances. I feel swindled and Clear refused to right their wrong. Shame on them!!!
Undisclosed subscription signup
I was running late at the airport so I’m sure the employee could see the stress I was in. Therefore asked me if I’d like to get through security quicker, that’s all. Signed me up very quickly and told me there would be a small fee charge right now which was only $1. A month later I now have a subscription membership for $209 (£156). I was COMPLETELY unaware of this until I woke up with the pending transaction in my account. I go back through my emails, 0 mention that I had signed up to a subscription and the airport employee gave no mention of this either. This feels like a complete and utter scam used to prey on stressed out visitors in their moment of need so they won’t read any small print. Do not use this and give yourself plenty of time to get through security, please.
They lie to you to get you to join.
At the airport when they did the hard sell, it was my understanding that i didn't have to do anything more than what was done to sign me up at the airport. It was indicated to me that tsa precheck was included. After i was charged and i had no KTN, i called them. Their phone system just circles you around and around and around but you never can talk to anyone. The online chat is horrible. They cannot help you and all they do is give you more phone numbers to call which are already on the website. After calling one of the other numbers, they took my info and said they were escalating the info to CLEAR member services. Of course all they did was deny me a refund, did not add tsa precheck and said nothing about the lie that was told to me at the airport. Now i have CLEAR, no precheck garbage. They are a scam.
Complete Rip Off!
At DCA, the Clear "Agent" tricked and lied to my wife to get her to purchase this useless service. DO NOT FALL for their deception. A complete rip off!
I genuinely don't have enough bad words…
I genuinely don't have enough bad words in my vocabulary for this company.
A Clear agent at Boston Logan approached me, and my gut immediately said, "Absolutely not." I should've listened.
I politely declined, explaining that I don't travel enough for Clear to make sense. That wasn't enough. He assured me—multiple times—that it was "completely free," just a trial, and that there would be zero charges unless I chose to use Clear again in the future.
Reader, that was a lie.
Against my better judgment (and because apparently my toxic trait is being polite), I signed up.
Two weeks later: SURPRISE! $209 disappeared from my account.
I immediately canceled the membership I never intended to pay for and requested a refund. Customer service confirmed I'd be refunded and even sent me an invoice proving it.
Plot twist: they "refunded" the money to a completely different Mastercard that doesn't belong to me.
You'd think that's where the story ends.
Nope.
Then they charged my card ANOTHER $209.
So now I'm out $418 because this company apparently treats bank accounts like an all-you-can-eat buffet.
As a teacher, $418 isn't "oops" money. It's the difference between paying my bills and wondering which expense gets skipped this month.
I've some significant time now in customer service purgatory, hearing the same script over and over: "Your case has been escalated. Please allow 24–72 hours."
After 72 hours? Nothing.
When I followed up, I was told the clock had somehow restarted because I contacted them "before the allotted time." I didn't. But even if I had, that's one of the most absurd excuses I've ever heard.
At this point, the only thing Clear has made clear is that they have no problem taking your money.
DO NOT TRUST THIS COMPANY. If someone wearing a Clear badge approaches you in the airport promising a "free trial," keep walking like they're trying to sell you a timeshare at 7 a.m.
Case #: 09919082 — in case someone at Clear decides today is the day they finally fix the mess they created.
Charged $419 for a free 2 week trial charged $419
Supposed to be a free 2 week trial. I was charged $419 on the 14th day. Cancellation was very confusing and not readily apparent.
They lied to me
They lied to me! The person representing Clear told me several times that my credit card would not be charged unless I received notification and I authorized payment. I never received notification and forgot about it until I noticed it on my American Express statement. I contacted Clear, cancelled the membership and filled a request for reimbursement of $209.00 and was informed that I would be informed of the outcome of my request with in 72 hours. A week later with no notification
I was informed on the phone my request for a refund was rejected. This is a scam!
Scam
In my opinion, this felt like a scam. I signed up for CLEAR on April 28 because it was advertised with TSA PreCheck, and buying them separately would have cost me over $200. I thought I was getting a great deal, but I never received the information needed to complete my TSA PreCheck enrollment.
When I called customer service to get help, I was met with attitude, and the representative hung up on me instead of resolving the issue. That level of customer service is unacceptable.
CLEAR should seriously reconsider having airport representatives aggressively selling memberships if customers aren't receiving what they were promised and can't get proper support afterward. Based on my experience, I would not recommend signing up.
PLEASE BEWARE
PLEASE BEWARE! THIS IS A SCAM! THEY WILL UNLAWFULLY CHARGE YOUR CREDIT CARD.
I would rate CLEARME.COM a ZERO!!
I would rate CLEARME.COM a zero if that was possible. Total fraud and lying at Denver Airport. Sales rep approached us while in the security line about CLEAR services. I knew about the serviced since we have Global entry. The CLEAR REP said we would only be charged a $1 to listen to her presentation and then be allowed into the Clear security line. She provided her presentation and my wife and I told her we were not interested in their program and she allowed us to go into the Clear Security line. She said we would receive a email from them but we never did.
Today I called CLEARME.COM after seeing a $334 charge on my credit card bill. The Clear rep said he did not have the authority to cancel a charge after I explained how we were lied to by a CLEAR rep. Richard R. of CLEARME.COM explained he would escalate the matter to someone who could cancel it. Shortly after that we received a email from KYNNIDI J. of CLEARME.COM stating that because we tried after the 14 day trial period they could not cancel the account. As I stated we never received a email to realize the Denver rep was lying!!
Clear is scamming people at the…
Clear is scamming people at the airports!
I was traveling through 2 airports 2 weeks ago and was approached by a clear representative who told me that they are offering a promotion of two weeks free, so agreed on it verbally then I was told I just needed to pay a dollar! So I did, a few days ago they went ahead and charged my account $209! for an annual membership that I didn’t sign for or agreed on! and it has been hell trying to get them to refunded it as their call centers are clueless and unethical as the company itself!
How is it that a scam like that can be acceptable in an American airport that’s a government entity! Where we are not allowed to have a bottle of water even if it’s medically necessary!!! Yet tricking people for money is okay??? This is sealing from vulnerable people!
I will never ever trust clear again!
Clear entraps airport travellers to subscribe…
Clear entraps customers by guiding unsuspecting airport travellers to their customs portals and then scanning credit cards for a token $1. There is no representation that there will be a $200 annual subscription charge for Clearme service. I'm not sure why this business is allowed to be in airports when they are simply conning travellers. The service brings no value.
Do not join clear
Do not join. Clear it's total B's just go with TSA pre check you don't need clear it's worthless found that out the hard way when I was standing next to regular line moving about the same pace don't waste your money
Scam
Their sales team at the airport is on point. They funnel you over say oh try this free subscription it’ll help today by the way it doesn’t auto renew and then two months later you get a bill for $209. You catch it on the statement but ironically it’s past the 14 days so it’s a quick easy scam. Also by the way it made absolutely no difference during this flight because the clear line was just as long as the standard line.
Be careful
The Agent at Houston Airport Said it is free. After that you have a Subscription for more than 200 USD. It is scam Never Mentioned the Airport or Police Should fight against this.
Be careful with CLRAR.COM at the US airports
On May 30, 2026, I was alone at JFK Airport when a CLEAR employee invited me to try out the CLEAR self-service clearance machine. I told him I had Global Entry and the lines weren't long. He told me the machine was free and he needed the job, so I agreed. When he asked me to scan my credit card, I asked why, and he said it was just to record my use of the machine. The machine would charge me one dollar, which would then be refunded. Unexpectedly, on June 14, 2026, $209 was charged to my account. I called my credit card company, and they said I could only wait for the charge to be processed (currently pending) and filed a dispute. I had to cancel my credit card and apply for a new one.
This prompt me to do a search online, I discovered that CLEAR has been operating since 2021, and from the online content, the $209 is likely a subscription fee. I feel cheated because the CLEAR staff never mentioned a subscription or membership fee. Therefore, my advice is: never believe anything that's "free."
Rude customer service
Rude customer service. I had a simple question and called the "customer service" number, but did not get "simple" help. Just NO patience or kindness in the woman's voice. It's like I am a nuisance and she is bored. Terrrrrrrible.
Cancelled and still got charged… for TWO months straight. DO NOT RECOMMEND!
I haven’t flown in over a year and I haven’t utilize CLEAR at all since I haven’t flown anywhere. I also cancelled sometime in early 2026. However, I was charged $209 on May 9th. As soon as I got that charge notification, I reached out via CHAT for a confirmation of cancellation and refund. I was refunded, however it is now a month later and I have been charged AGAIN. So I am now… on the phone with them again for another refund and another cancellation request.
They are not honest about their trial program
When I signed up for Clear at the Denver airport the attendant said they had a 30 day free trial if i used my AMEX card. Total lie. I signed up on May 16 and they billed me on May 30. After I looked at reviews regarding Clear on June 6, I went onto the website to cancel my free trial and low and behold, they already charged me. The kiosk attendants/staff are not truthful. Also, this is not availabel in a number of the airports I fly into. Or it is in an entirely different terminal I need to fly out of. I would strongly recommend NOT signing up with Clear.
Shame on CLEAR for deceptive trade…
Shame on CLEAR for deceptive trade practices, predatory sales tactics, and fraudulent account enrollment by their staff at the Fort Lauderdale airport.
On April 22, 2026, my sister and I were at the airport traveling under extreme emotional distress to attend our mother’s funeral. We approached an individual we believed to be a TSA or airport authority figure to ask for directions to the standard security line. This individual was actually a sales representative for CLEAR.
The representative intentionally misled us, stating they would help us through the line quickly, and explicitly stated, "it's not even really anything you have to pay for." He took my credit card, completely operated the terminal himself, and clicked through all the terms, conditions, and contract agreements on our behalf. My sister and I were never allowed to see the screen, review the pricing, or consent to a $418.00 annual subscription ($209.00 per account).
We never used the service and canceled immediately upon discovering the unauthorized charges on my bank statement. I contacted CLEAR Member Services twice to resolve this, but they refuse to issue a refund, hiding behind a "14-day cancellation policy."
A cancellation policy is legally void when a company's own employee intentionally conceals the contract and pushes the agreement buttons for the consumer. This is a predatory, unauthorized enrollment. I demanded a supervisor review this case and issue a full refund and all requests were ignored.
