As an expat looking to get a mortgage in the UK for the first time in many years Clifton Private Finance were excellent in all areas. My initial contact, Alex Chambers, was a pleasure to deal with. His advice regarding the best options given my personal circumstances was invaluable and something I’d have struggled with if done on my own. Guidance was given on how best to complete the application process and all questions were answered quickly. The offer was received quickly once all the paperwork was submitted.

During the property purchase process Alex and Jan Guerin were always happy to assist wherever they could with the solicitors and the Bank in order to try and expedite proceedings despite them no longer having to be involved.

I dealt with Alex from CPF who made it look easy compared to others.

Being a 'self employed' business owner on a salary of £12,500, most lenders wouldn't lend me what was required. Thanks to Alex at CPF, I ended up being able to borrow more than double what TSB could offer (using net profit + salary).

It's taken a long time for us to get around to writing a review (2023) but we would like to thank Max Mallison immensely for his support that helped keep our sanity intact through our application for a bridging loan. Our PTSD is receding somewhat but if it wasn't for Max we'd be in straight jackets! Our main lesson from this experience to anybody applying for a Bridging Loan is to thoroughly research the Lender's solicitor (cheaper not always being the best, as we all know) as this where our nightmare began. Any other solicitor company would have rubbed their hands in glee and remarked "Easy" as we were ideal customers in everybody else's eyes. All was settled and repaid within 8 weeks of us receiving the BL, a loan that took 10 weeks for it to be granted through "Friday Night Takeaways" as the solicitor company became known in our household with their endless shopping lists of questions every Friday evening (repeatedly asking the same questions but with a little tweak here and there). Thankfully Max and our solicitors used all their professionalism and expertise to push the process in a positive manner despite, what appeared to be but it could be paranoia, a solicitor taking a personal dislike to us and trying their utmost to scupper the procedure where we would have been denied the loan. Our conclusion is that we would never use the solicitor or their company if they were the last company on earth.
