THE WORST STORAGE EXPERIENCE OF MY LIFE -- CLUTTER DAMAGED, DESTROYED, AND FAILED TO RETURN MY BELONGINGS.
The worst was my clothing and personal items. My heavy-duty storage bags came back soaked through, reeking of mildew, with mold permanently staining my clothes, leather goods, purses, and sentimental items. I called multiple dry cleaners, and every single one told me this kind of damage is permanent. Years' worth of valuable and irreplaceable belongings were ruined beyond saving.
Larger furniture wasn't spared either -- my dresser, TV stand, carpet, and coffee table all came back broken. And several items were never delivered at all, including part of my bed frame, a dresser, a bar stool, and a storage box.
When I tried to get answers, I spent hours on the phone with customer service. I was promised a refund but never received it. Instead, I was ignored and brushed off while they tried to deny responsibility entirely.
This company is negligent, dishonest, and unprofessional. They ruined my things, wasted my time, and showed zero accountability.
IF YOU CARE ABOUT YOUR BELONGINGS, DO NOT USE CLUTTER !!!!!

Exceptional service overall. Pick up was managed professionally and with courteousness and two movers. Delivery 18 months later the movers, very courteous and kind and careful. I never had a problem paying my very inexpensive storage fee. Delivery charge was nominally priced.

RUN. Don't choose them. I am absolutely blown away by how horrible this experience has been. Movers are wonderful, very helpful. However, the support is non-exist, the billing is confusing and incorrect, the process to get a response notes to give them 5 business days. When you're likely trying to move and time is not on your side. Their internal operations is in shambles. Their compliance is upside down.
Like other reviewers here and elsewhere have said, I have now had to pay a secondary moving and storage company to complete my move on time.
There is no listing of their leadership, likely because they were tired of people reaching out to escalate. Any exec or leaders I could find have left in the last 6 months. As soon as I can, I will move my other stuff from their care before it ends up lost.

A promising service that ended in disaster
I agree with the poster below about giving even one star. Clutter retrieved my items and placed them in storage when I vacated a previous residence in 2024. The return was an unmitigated disaster.
As visible from pictures and video on my phone, the movers destroyed my primary dresser beyond repair while dragging it on my steps. They severely damaged my staircase and banister while moving the dresser into a downstairs room. Then they asked where I wanted it placed as though nothing had happened. When I touched the dresser it wabbled and shook like a bobblehead. They stood there blank-faced. I told them to remove it and do whatever they wanted with it; it was no longer usable. The clothing that would have stored inside is now still in boxes or piles on the floor. This almost would have been funny had it not destroyed the dresser and damaged the newly painted banister and hardwood stairs.
While bringing a custom-made desk in, the movers damaged the chamber on the bottom of the desk that one of the legs enters in order to stand. One of the legs on the desk can no longer be attached, and thus the desk can’t stand. This is a really disappointing loss and there’s no way to purchase a replacement for this one-of-a-kind desk. The movers claimed that the damage may have been caused at the storage center when the desk was disassembled, or by the moveout crew that picked up my items. Clutter's website requires the customer to find a similarly valued item online in order to file a claim, which in this case is impossible. They'll probably attempt to barter about any refund.
Finally, a bookcase with removable shelves was returned with the shelves missing. Clutter took possession of the bookcase and shelves in 2024. Unless the shelves are located, the bookcase is useless.
Clutter does not have a service line which customers can contact, but rather an email address that states customers will be contacted within 48 hours. The return calls seem to be made by low-level representatives who have no power to actually help, and customers have to get through to a manager for substantive assistance. The only way to access real-time assistance during a move is to have Clutter's own movers call HQ, and of course the customer receives whatever information the movers care to share. No follow-up with the customer occurs unless he or she is willing to wait that 48 hours, long after the move has concluded. In my case, the 48 hours has lapsed.
I reported these issues to Clutter early this week but have yet to receive a response. Again, the 48-hour window has long since expired. To improve service, Clutter should provide better oversight of its delivery teams, have a customer service line with agents reachable by phone instead of an email address with a 48-hour response time, especially during service pickups or deliveries, respond to customer concerns/inquiries more quickly, ensure accountability/partnership between their storage and moving teams, and, when damage is caused, fairly compensate the customer. The pickup+storage+delivery service sounds great as advertised, but in practice it was extremely disappointing. I wish I had looked into the company more thoroughly.
This team of movers exceeded all expectations
Alexandria, Raymond, and the other 2 crew members (I am so sorry I forgot their names but they were also personally exceptional) did the best job of any professional full service movers I have used in the last 30 yrs including for multiple interstate, across state, and I town moves. Please send this crew for my packing and move to storage on 8/24 and 8/27.
NEVER use CLUTTER
NEVER use CLUTTER. We were with Callbox that was purchased by clutter. We had stored items there for years and never moved things in and out so they should have stayed in the same area. Recently we decided to move all of our stuff out into extra space we had. They lost 6 large items that are very sizable and valuable. Talking 7' high glass corner cabinets and other large items. Then when they got there, they tried to give us other people items that they said were ours but did not match pictures or ID codes. But on their system is shows our items were loaded on the right truck. We waited and at the end NO ITEMS. so, their internal system shows delivered even though they weren't and other people's items were shown delivered but not to them but to us, so how did they fix that????
Offered us $1 per lb. which is about $200 for $20,000 of missing items. They are trying to sweep their corporate mistakes as lost items and get away with the cheapest method which is crooked and they should own up to it, I guarantee our items are in the warehouse. This is a systematic problem with their people and what is getting inputted and loaded into trucks every day and whoever is checking the items is not doing a good job. RUN as FAST AS YOU CAN FROM CLUTTER AND ANY OTHER COMANY THEY MERGE WITH.

Absolutely awful company!
Absolutely awful company — by far the worst I’ve ever dealt with. They sent just TWO people to move my entire 2,000 sq ft furnished apartment and showed up with only five boxes when I clearly needed at least 30. Half of my furniture ended up damaged because nothing was packed or protected properly. To make matters worse, the two movers spent the entire time complaining as if they had somewhere more important to be. I will be taking legal action to recover the costs of the damage they caused.

Clutter is awesome!
Clutter is my go-to storage solution. It's reasonably priced, and the white glove service when packing things up is invaluable. Will use it by default whenever I need packing services in a major metro in the US.
Professional and kind movers
Aleksey, jack & Joel worked efficiently as a wonderful team! They are kind, helpful, professional, and patient. It was nice to have them as my movers today. If I have them again when I am back to New York, I will definitely tip them more.
Hard to give them even one star
Hard to give them even one star, when I am blocked in getting my things out of storage. We had a confirmed delivery date for return of items, but Clutter cancelled with less than 12 hours notice. By then we had already travelled across country to receive the goods. Now waiting for personal belongings that are much needed and no sense of when they will be returned. If customers cancel even up to 2 days in advance they are charged 50% of total or $200 (whichever is higher). Clutter however is taking no ownership or responsibility with customer to resolve this major inconvenience.

The team did a great job, 10/10 for all three individuals. All three of them, Marco, Joseph and Pierre were careful, diligent and efficient. They worked well and were very courteous with our items, moving them, wrapping/unwrapping, placement and building. They also had such positive vibes in general.
