Very poor experience dealing with Copart.
I purchased a vehicle that was clearly misrepresented in the auction listing. The description stated the boot was stuck closed, but the vehicle arrived with the boot already open, revealing structural damage. They likely said the boot was stuck closed to avoid taking photos inside the boot.
On top of that, there was additional damage to the vehicle that was not present in the listing photographs. The rear quarter panel, which was clearly visible and undamaged in the auction photos, had been dented and split by the time the vehicle was delivered, requiring costly repairs. I can only assume this damage occurred after the photos were taken, either in the salvage yard or during the auction process. This concern was dismissed by relying on a disclaimer that vehicles may have more damage than shown, despite this appearing to be new damage caused after the vehicle had already been listed.
The vehicle also has four punctured tyres, hard to proved but again no present in the auction photos, in the photos the tyres were inflated.
In my view, they are not transparent about the true condition of vehicles and, in this case, it appeared there was a clear attempt to conceal damage and mislead buyers.
The vehicle was later reclassified from Cat N to Cat S, confirming the original listing was inaccurate. Initially, I was offered just £300 compensation for this change in category, which is nowhere near the loss in value when a vehicle moves from Cat N to Cat S.
What should have been a straightforward resolution became a long and frustrating complaints process, with repeated delays, changing positions, and poor communication. I only received a refund after repeatedly challenging their response and making it clear that I was prepared to take court action.
Would not use again. Avoid buying from them.

Utter, utter cowboys.
Ridiculous retention fee for a category N write off for my Audi A1. I’m heartbroken as I can’t afford to do anything other than let it go to these soulless people.
If you EVER have a car in an accident, do not surrender it to these people. Keep it on site at home and ask for home assessment from your insurance company. If these thieving articles get their hands on it, you’ll never see it again in the same condition or without being bent over to get your own car back.
Do not buy from or allow these people to take a car from you, ever. Save yourself the heartache and expense.
Waiting for the generic ‘if you wish to raise a complaint’ reply which would not be looked into or addressed in a reasonable time-frame.

My Damaged Car was arranged to be collected on 16/04/26 they failed to collect car not even the courtesy of a phone call from the company or the driver not a very professional company still in limbo not knowing what’s going on tbh

I purchased a vehicle through Copart and later discovered damage to the front windscreen, directly in the driver’s line of sight, which was not disclosed in the advert. I collected the vehicle very early in the morning when it was still dark, so I was unable to properly inspect it at the time, but I reported the issue to the Wolverhampton branch as soon as I discovered it the following morning.
I have since obtained a quotation confirming that the scratch cannot be repaired and that the windscreen must be replaced at a cost of £434.00. Copart rejected the complaint, relied on a low-resolution delivery image, refused compensation, and stated they would not enter into further correspondence.
Very disappointing experience and poor complaint resolution.

Please don’t respond with generic statements — I’ve already raised complaints and they’ve fallen on deaf ears. I now have no choice but to take this further legally.
I purchased a van believing it was in reasonable condition. They claim I should have done my checks, but the listing was misleading from the start. The bumper was attached in photos, dashboard lights were visible — nothing clearly indicated the true condition.
What I actually received was shocking:
• No gearbox
• No engine
• Interior plastics completely stripped
Yes, buried in “additional information” (which you have to click into), it mentions things like “can’t test if it drives” and “engine missing” — but this was not clear or transparent in the main listing. The photos were also taken at angles that conveniently avoided showing the real state of the vehicle.
I’ve now had to pay an extra £350 just to return it.
This has been one of the worst experiences I’ve had. I won’t be backing down from this.
⚠️ Buyers, be very careful and make sure you check every hidden detail before purchasin.

had a small dink in my car, a van touched my o/s rear quarter on an audi a4,it was still drivable. got home filled in insurance claim online and INSTANTLY got a reply back saying its a write-off.
within 10 minutes had a message from copart wanting
to take my car away, i told them to jog on.
a couple of weeks later got paid out for my car(£4200),bought it back from copart( £1100) I re mot'd it (£30)and applied for a new log book(free).
got some t-cut, polished it out, touched up abit of paint, good as new.
how the hell is that cost effective.

Biggest scam ever they want your car it's put as cat s when it needs £250 of repair. Insurance company go by photos vehicle not inspected. Had I car written off insurance said needs to have new registration and inspection plus new mot . No its back on the road now insurance company lose money be not checking. Copart are laughing yet insurance company makes interest on your money when you paid for years. And that quote for £250 was done by 5 other bodyshops yet insurance company paid out £2.500 who's losing and who's gaining

Copart picked up my Landcruiser today. They gave me a 15 minute time slot so I wouldn’t wait in all day. They arrived at the time stated and everything went fine. Highly recommended.

Bought a car that stated runs and drives, when the car was delivered it didn’t even start. When I ask the driver to unload the car to the side of the he advised me that it doesn’t drive it chips out when starting. I know it’s my responsibility to pre inspection check, but even in the additional information section they put two keys they failed to put there are serious problems with the engine which was written on the windshield and could not be read properly from pictures online. The primary damage stated under carriage but the car is no good it doesn’t even start.
