Great service and product

The light was actually in stock as per the website's statement (not always a given), dispatched next day, delivered fast and according to the advertised timeframe, and customer service follow-up has been excellent. Product is awesome, and the package was so well wrapped that the delivery van would have had to actually run it over to affect the contents.

Read the Returns Policy before purchasing a shade

The order process was smooth and delivery efficient but it was the shock of seeing the return policy when the shade wasn't suitable that any shades returned incurred a 25% returns charge. Be careful and think twice if you aren't 100% sure. I don't know whether this is even legal but it would certainly put me off purchasing anything further from this company.

Our returns terms, including the 25% restocking fee on individual lampshades, are clearly outlined on our dedicated returns policy page and are also displayed on the relevant product pages prior to purchase, so customers can review this information before ordering.

As explained in our email correspondence, this restocking charge is set by our manufacturers rather than by us, and we are required to adhere to their policy.

As a gesture of goodwill, we did offer to refund the restocking fee in the form of store credit to assist you on this occasion; however, we understand that you chose not to accept this option.

Four beautiful Laura Ashley lights!

I recently purchased four beautiful Laura Ashley lights online from CP Lighting & Interiors, and I couldn’t be happier with the experience! 😁

The lights I purchased (during their Black Friday sale) were:

Decor lighting Great website, lovely items, very good value; communication could be better

I recently ordered 2 Amber Tortoiseshell lamps from the other part of the business - Decor Lighting uk . I didn’t know they were part of the same company and only found it on the small print when ordering 2 other items ( wall lights) from CP lighting. Knowing they were part of the same group would have made me much more confident about ordering, particularly as after placing my order I didn’t receive any emails - no order confirmation, no status email and no dispatch email. That made me nervous that i’d been scammed ! However on reaching out via email and then phone they told me my order was under way. Both items arrived yesterday via DHL and they are superb. Couldn’t be more happy with the size, quality and value. All in all , great website, lovely items, very good value but communication could be way better

We’re really sorry for the worry caused by the lack of email communication after you placed your order – we completely understand how unsettling that must have felt, and we appreciate you bringing it to our attention. For clarity, Decor Lighting does automatically send an order confirmation email as soon as an order is placed, followed by a dispatch notification with courier tracking details once the order has been sent. If these emails weren’t received, we kindly suggest checking junk or spam folders, just in case they were filtered there.

That said, our IT team will also be looking into this as a precaution, as this is the first time we’ve received this type of feedback, and we want to ensure everything is working exactly as it should.

Unfortunately the lamp I ordered had a damaged shade but after a very quick response a new one was sent out with no hassle.
Good prices also.

Awful customer service from start to…

Awful customer service from start to finish. Ordered two wall lights from this company and returned as they were simply too big for the space. A day or two after receiving them we submitted the returns request online. After not hearing anything on how to return etc for a while we called. To be told no the return wasn't online, however we had a call off someone the day we submitted the request to confirm we had requested a return but our call a while later was because we hadn't had anything emailed to confirm how we return etc.

When we called the staff were rude and unhelpful. We where told no request to return existed, when stating we had a call to confirm we where returning something we where told they don't call people - basically said we where lying.
Then we asked what the return policy was, how to be packaged? do we arrange it? address? courier? etc. to be told "I'll send you a pdf, just read that". We persisted because surely someone in the returns department knows the policy and we said the delay from this company has been so long that we need to know the process now or we're close to the 14 days returns window running out.

Then we finally where able to return the items to be told "one of the boxes is ripped so we can't refund you, look around our terms and conditions"
1. the box was faulty on arrival as it wasn't actually big enough for the item and had tape all over it.
2. this wasn't mentioned in the "pdf" or by the member or staff who seemed pained to answer any questions.
After lots of back and forth we asked for the light they're refusing to return to be sent back to us to be told "you need to come and collect it". Which is near impossible as they seem to be based in the north east and we are in London.

The team have been rude and we were told "customer service wasn't poor" when it very clearly has been.

We were very disappointed to read your review, as we feel it does not accurately reflect the situation or the level of service our customer care team has provided.

It is extremely sad and frustrating for companies when customers choose to return items in an unsellable and heavily damaged condition, in a way that does not comply with our returns policy, and then threaten companies with negative reviews that do not provide an accurate account of events in an attempt to tarnish their reputation. You were made fully aware of the returns policy prior to your return.

You first submitted your return request on 17th July, to which our system immediately provided the automated Returns Guide PDF. As we also explained by phone, all return instructions are clearly outlined both in that guide and on our website.

We received your return on 22nd July, which included two separate items. Unfortunately, one of the items was returned in a condition that made it unsellable. The product packaging was significantly damaged, with a ripped-open side, a missing cardboard panel, and heavy tape applied. As explained in both our Returns Guide and policy, we are unable to accept items back when the product packaging has been damaged in this way.

We did, however, confirm on the same day that we were able to refund the other item that was returned in acceptable condition.

We want to stress that our customer service team did not speak to you in the manner you have described, and we have taken care to provide clear, professional communication throughout. We believe we have acted fairly and in line with our published returns policy, which you received before sending your items back.

While we understand this may not be the resolution you hoped for, we do believe it is a fair and transparent outcome, consistent with the standards our customers rightly expect.

Absolutely shocking customer service

Absolutely shocking customer service, first no clear return instructions for a lamp that arrived to me faulty.
After taking 3 days to return each email they tried telling me I was out of date for returning. I explained it was faulty and Iv been awaiting instructions, I returned the item ( at my cost) only for them to tell me that as I’d used brown tape to seal the box they couldn’t return it.
Who doesn’t use brown tape to seal the box.

After reading a few more reviews on here I see they use this “brown tape” clause to avoid refunds, this company has been almost impossible to contact, and all they do is repeatedly send you the terms and conditions of their return policy.
I had a faulty lamp which cost me over £100 and they are refusing to refund my money.
I will be contacting trading standards as have a few others on here it seems.

Although your return request was submitted outside of our standard 14-day return window, our customer service team extended this timeframe as a gesture of goodwill to allow you to return the item for a refund.

You were sent two separate emails explaining our returns policy and providing clear instructions on how to repackage the product correctly. Both emails clearly stated that clear tape must be used to reseal the product box for the return to be accepted, as also detailed on our website. Unfortunately, these instructions were not followed.

Regarding your comments about response times, we did not take three days to reply to any of your emails. In fact, our team responded to all of your messages on the same day they were received or within the 24-hour timeframe we advise in our automated reply. Please note that our customer service team is closed on Sundays.

Additionally, we have a telephone number which is 0191 440 1111 should you wish to speak to us directly, but you chose to correspond exclusively via email, to which we consistently replied promptly and efficiently on the same day.

For clarity, here is a summary of our correspondence:

16th June: You submitted a return request citing a fault.
17th June: We replied with details on how to return the item.
18th June: You submitted a duplicate return request.
18th June: We responded promptly, requesting photos of the fault as required by our suppliers before authorizing a return.
21st June: You replied (3 days later) without including images.
21st June: We responded the same day, again requesting the necessary photos.
27th June: You provided an image (6 days later).
27th June: We responded the same day with the supplier’s assessment confirming that the issue was not considered a fault but a natural characteristic of the ceramic mould.

Bad reviews can be extremely damaging for small family ran businesses such as ours, especially when they are not accurate or reflective of what actually occurred. We are always committed to supporting our customers and resolving any concerns professionally and fairly.
