Great value for £20, did the game as a group of four. We took two hours and solved the puzzle. Lots of decent content and plenty to pore over. We would do another.

Cryptic Killer: Hodgson’s Theatre is a great and engaging game that really pulls you into the role of a detective. As you work through the case, you examine evidence, read notes, review interviews, and piece together facts to uncover the truth. Even though all the information is provided, the challenge comes from connecting the details and spotting what’s there—as well as what’s missing.
The game does a fantastic job of making you feel like a real crime investigator, encouraging careful thinking and attention to detail. It’s immersive, satisfying, and perfect for anyone who enjoys solving mysteries.
I highly recommend it.

Good fun, good mystery. We did murder at the movie theatre, I would buy another and I recommend it to anyone willing to play detective.

We bought the Millionaire pack and loved it. The info and photos all looked genuine. So we got another and decided to go for Merivale Manor. It has AI generated images and audio clips. The audio clip is dreadful in the way the person enunciates and sounds really uncanny valley. It’s possibly written by AI as well. So disappointing.

I know some people may think “so what?” But considering the immoral way AI has been trained I think it’s worth mentioning. Imagine seeing an uncanny photo in one of these of someone you know because the AI generator had their photo in its database? AI is also being used to create deepfakes and CP material. Major companies of it buying all the RAM before it’s made and making the world more expensive for everyone. No one should be supporting that by using it.

A previous review did mention that people crying over AI need to “learn to read” so I checked everywhere to see if this was mentioned and it isn’t. If it’s made by AI it should be stated but these companies know that AI is terrible so basically deceiving the public. The site is also really barebones.

To add to that why would you want to continue supporting a company that clearly, after initially putting effort in to create realistic case photos, decides to cheap out and lazily use AI images. There’s royalty free images out there and photo editing can be done if needed (the photos in the manor game did not have clues in them so any image could have been used…), They also couldn’t be bothered to edit the issues that show it’s AI as well (a neck tie being over a shirt collar instead of under for example). It’s sad that as they became successful, they decided to go down the cheap lazy money grabbing route instead.

Also if the comment about “crying over AI” is in the defense of it ask yourself why you would want to support a company that doesn’t want to use their brains anymore to create like they did in their past ones? If you can’t come up with images without just asking an AI then why should anyone trust that they can come up with creative interesting cases to solve?

I implore people to research why AI is bad and why it shouldn’t be supported in anyway. Sadly I doubt this company will cease using it.

Absolutely brilliant second one over the Christmas period me and my partner did we love putting on a YouTube detective background playlist and getting stuck in! Loved it well done. We don't use the hints although wish we did about three hours in! To the guy crying about ai images who clearly can't read ignore his review this is fabulous!

Was dying to finally do the marine biologists murder and it truly exceeded my expectations the case kept me invested but also made me so angry but when all the pieces come together it’s such a relief

I ordered the Murder At The Movie Theatre as a Christmas present to myself. Couldn't wait! This was such fun. The more you read through and study the evidence, the more you you pick up on discrepancies and details. My case file arrived on time and was complete with all instructions and evidence. Well presented. Suitable for solo players, couples, or small teams I woud think. I considered it to be fairly priced. The evidence comes in a variety of forms. I did find one of the clues in particular was not easy for me, but I do feel that the plot and story has the right level of complexity: interesting and engaging. I'd definitely recommend it. Better still, got the answer right which was SO satisfying! I may now be addicted. Just ordered two more!

What brilliant fun. Well put together, easy to follow the evidence and work out the killer. We did have to use some of the hints as we misinterpreted something and made a wrong assumption about something else. We did get the killer in the end though. However, even if we hadn't, we would have still loved it! It took us about 5 hours but we immersed ourselves, and discussed it in detail, and wrote down what we thought were key points and questions that were unanswered that we wanted to know. We absolutely loved it so much so that we have purchased another 4 directly from cryptic killers as you get a 20% discount and we know we want to do all of them. Great for families, date night or friends who want to be sleuths!! Highly recommend.

We had great fun playing the Cryptic Killers case file, “Murder of a Millionaire,” over the course of a couple of hours. Even our 9-year-olds got involved and were able to work out some of the clues, which made it a really enjoyable family activity.

The case was very well thought out and nicely organised, so we always felt clear about what we were doing. Any online interactivity needed (which was minimal) was clearly signposted and easy to follow.

Everything in the file is still in perfect condition, so we can easily pass it on for someone else to enjoy. We’ll definitely be buying more of the other cases in the future!

Something different and fun to do for date night. Excited to receive the pack, looked like a proper police case file. Took us 2.5 hours to complete. Will definitely buy another one.

My girlfriend bought me "Murder of a Millionaire" for Christmas and we finally had a chance to play it last week. We both absolutely loved it. Took us about 2 hours in total. We got most of the clues and the relevant info but we unfortunately came to the slightly wrong conclusion. I think if we had accessed the supplementary evidence online, we would have nailed it. Can't wait to get another case.

Great experience and fun for all the family, took around 2.5hrs to complete.
Only struggle we had was working out the delete messages but still fun to do, took the longest amount of time overall.
Will be buying another soon for our games night.

I was bought the Murder of a Musician pack for Christmas and completed it over the bank holiday weekend. It was brilliant fun. I got far too into it with different colour pens and tabs and honestly it felt super immersive and I just THOROUGHLY enjoyed it! I'd recommend this to anyone who has a love for a mystery and a love for critical thinking. I've already ordered another pack and plan to go through each one. 5* date night activity.

Had a great New Year's Eve with a Cryptic Killers murder mystery investigation case file. My partner and I changed our plans after receiving this (murder in Miami) for Christmas. We decided to stay in New Year's Eve and play this game. What a fantastic night we had.

There's a lot of reading to be done and this can take some time as you're also putting the evidence together to find out who the killer may be, Cant recommend these enough the next day I order another three
