Thank you for your review. I’m sorry to hear about the issues you’ve encountered after the repair, but I’d like to clarify the events from my side to ensure there’s a clear understanding.
On my first callout, I thoroughly disassembled the scooter to identify the fault, which I confirmed to be the drive belt. After advising that the belt needed replacing, we arranged for me to return once the parts had arrived.
During the second visit, you provided your own parts to help keep costs down. Unfortunately, the belt you ordered was the wrong one, so I recommended you reorder the correct belt, and I scheduled another appointment to replace it once the correct part had arrived.
When I returned for the third callout and replaced the belt, I discovered additional drive issues that couldn’t have been diagnosed until the new belt was fitted. I informed you that the scooter needed further parts, and I also mentioned the speedo cable that you had requested to be replaced. After receiving all the parts, I came back again to fit them, which required significant work, including stripping the front end of the scooter.
Once all parts were fitted, I tested the scooter, and it was in fully operational condition. The scooter was running smoothly, and I confirmed this with you and your son after the test ride.
After a few months, I received a call about a lack of power and slow performance. I returned immediately to test drive the scooter again, and after further checks, your son also test-drove it and confirmed it was working fine. At that point, you seemed satisfied with the work completed.
Considering the length of time that has passed since the repair, I believe the issues you experienced might have been caused by faulty parts or issues arising from the garage that carried out the subsequent repairs. The parts I replaced were fitted correctly, and the scooter was running well at the time of my last visit.
I hope this clears up the situation, and I’m always happy to answer any further questions. Please don’t hesitate to reach out if you need anything else.
I’d like to address a point regarding the cost breakdown for the work carried out. The £180 charge for the five callouts averages out to £36 per visit, which hardly covers my time, fuel, and the effort involved in attending the job.
I’d also like to mention that the weather during these visits was particularly challenging, with winter conditions and a lot of rain. Normally, I would try to avoid working in such conditions, but I made sure to keep the commitments we had.
Kind regards,
Dave Marler
