In 2018 a Dividend rep strong-armed an upstart neighborhood solar sales business into working with one, and only one company for installs. In order fornthisbdmall company to "earn" a continuing relationship with dividend, he forced them to use one of the world's least reliable installers, Luma Dynamics.

He didn't know it at the time, and neither did I, that Luma would be so sub-standard both in quality and customer service.

Within a year my roof began to leak. I contacted Luma. They attempted to repair the leaking area, and in the process the roofer discovered that each and every solar flashing had been incorrectly installed. No sealant had been used around legs, a nail gun had been used to find studs, and the job was poorly and dangerously done.

Within two weeks, Luma Dynamics had shut its doors and gone out of business. So I took the next step in the recovery process and reached out to the lender, Dividend Finance. Together with my sales company we showed them damages, worked with then for resolution. In the meantime, Dividend only ever demanded payment while delaying the process of roof repair.

They offered only to pay for the panel removal and the damages to my roof only where the solar has affected it, despite the fact that it was their mandatory installer who caused the damage. In Florida, there is a 25% rule. If the repair covers more than 25% of the area of the roof, the whole roof must be replaced, or the roof will not pass inspection and won't be deemed habitable.

That is a law I have no control over, and no ability to determine just the cost of the 40% damaged by solar.

From March until late September they delayed and delayed. They waffled back and forth about repair, send inspectors to my home and cost me time at work. Then finally refused to cover any repairs, claiming this was their original position. It isn't.

They didn't return calls when they claimed they would and take no responsibility for the contractors they force a client to use.

Don't use Dividend, use another finance company. Moreover, be sure that you understand that you can choose your installer anytime you want. Finance companies try to drive business to certain vendors for their own benefit, but you still have choices.

When I decided to go Solar, the process was simple. I worked with my contractor to design my system, and then processed the financing paperwork online. Project was scheduled and completed, and all delays were caused by outside events (Covid). I am pleased with the completed product.

West Shore Homes took care of processing everything, so it was easy. Just a few questions to fill out. Only problem was the paperwork I was emailed and can't access.

Truly an advocate for their clients- after a complete failure in project management, customer relations and communications management with the contractor/installer company, Dividend - through no obligation of their own- devised a solution to help rectify the situation. Finance companies typically do not care but this is one that does.

Quick and easy transition for my solar experience

This was all such a seemless, simple and fast process. Everything was well explained and we had no issues getting the financing needed and at a great rate as well. I love how everyone partnered together and they were all on the same page... we didn't have to ask a million questions and got the results we expected!
