Let me tell you the truth about Dotsure…. Their supposed care for animals is just a gimmick. They latched on to the idea that people love animals, so set this pet insurance up to pull on your heartstrings …. Do not waste your money on this.

Our 14 month old puppy went through severe trauma with a myriad of illnesses. We used specialist services in South Africa to help her and keep her alive… having to travel and stay in Cape Town for surgery and for the illnesses she picked up including Candida, Pneumonia, Esophagitis and Megaoesophagus.

Total cost of treatment not including costs for accommodation whilst in CT was in excess to ZAR160,000 … Dotsure were so pleased to tell us that they were very happy to cover us for ZAR3900…. That is less than 2.5%

The last claim for hospital treatment, medicine etc was for ZAR41,767… of which they were overjoyed to cover us for just ZAR105.22…. less than 1%

Disturbingly, I believe they are backed by AI answering and assessment services, as when you submit a claim online it’s like using chat messaging and even after very detailed explanations of the illness and procedures, your “assessment” is settled in mere minutes, no chance for discussion.

More to this point… in our detailed description of events, three times we mentioned that the dog had to be euthanised, and after this they sent a “get well” card to us, hoping our dog has a “speedy recovery”, pretty difficult when she died!…. this proves beyond doubt that they treat these circumstances like a machine, and there is no human behind this.

Don’t waste your money with Dotsure… instead, put what you want to pay them, into a “doggie” bank savings account, and when, in a rare event like ours, you will be better covered, and if not then you will end up with a healthy bank account… do the maths… their small payouts are not worth it.

Nothing to trust about Dotsure. They have a handbook full of excuses for reasons not pay claims. Run!!!

Complete scam. They charge you for years and then decline every claim. Don’t waste your time with them

This was the most smooth, professional and fastest claim I have ever dealt with, I was assisted by Awonke Magadla, this woman is an asset, super professional, her dedication to her work is on another level, she went an extra mile while, I struggled with my garage and she made sure that she goes above and beyond to assist and kept me posted. I would recommend dotsure a multimillion times!!!

Before we got house insurance we made sure vandalism was covered as the house was in a high risk area. House got vandalised. Refused to pay and the reason they gave was because the house wasn't in a good condition. Scammers with a call centre is all Dotsure is.

If there was a ZERO Rating, I would have certainly given this to Dotsure.

If I could give zero stars or negative stars I would.. they add stress and problems to the situation you already facing and are incompetent and unreliable.

Stick to pet insurance.. I would not recommend this to anyone guys.

If I could I’d give them zero stars. I don’t recommend this insurance company, they should stick to insuring pets and not cars.

I’ve been trying to claim my car since 2024 Dec until now Jan 2025 and worse we are heading to Feb now 🚮. They ask you ridiculous questions, they’ve been accessing the car for decades, they keep asking me to send my details and photos of the car accident. I’m tired of dotsure, they are the worst when it comes to car insurance.

They may be good for pet insurance but they just need to stop insuring old vehicles. The repairs on our bakkie were going to cost about R70 000 and its value was about R54 000, they wanted to scrap it, my husband offered to pay the R20 000 difference but they refused. They just wanted the bakkie for themselves to fix and sell it. After paying for more than 13 years without a claim and without a no claim bonus, we ended up taking the bakkie somewhere and they charged us R25 000 to fix it. Dotsure gave us R0, it's a scam. For old cars just go to Outsurance because they give you cash and you decide.

DotSure is quick to remind you that your R100 debit order failed. The option to make manual payment is not allowed. Even if all policies are up to date they still phone random times trying to upsale with rim / tyre care - which I have tried, but was not satisfied with the outcome. To cancel these additional services is not possible. They have lots of processes you have to follow - but they make it "impossible" to complete the process. Always something wrong with my policies or debit orders. Now that I have claimed for the first time - there are way too many procedures to conclude on a solution. Taking pictures of the car - send the photos multiple times but they still cannot confirm if it was reccived. Then I get reminder that the claim will be cacelled if they did not get the photos within a week... In short - they give shit service and don't really care about the person/ policy holder. They want customers that never claims. Good luck!

I did a car insurance quote with Dotsure Insurance earlier this year in April and their premiums were very high and so I didn’t accept the policy due to that reason but I believe I have been ****med by the same company because have been debating my bank account for the past 3months using Debit Check without my permission. Can someone from higher Authority investigate this matter with immediate effect because I know that calls are recorded and clearly somebody is ****ming clients within this company.

I've been a customer to Dotsure for about a year now, when I signed up to insure my car I was informed my premium will stay the same. To my surprise on the 1st of October I was debited more than the I signed for, this occurred without any communication from Dotsure and upon contacting them via email asking for explanation how do they take money from my bank account without permission nor prior communication..i only got an email asking my ID number which I provided and there's been no response despite a follow up email I sent them after that. What I do not understand is how can they not use my full name which I provided on email to access my account.
I wish to express how disappointed I am on the very first contact I'm making since I signed up and this makes me wonder what are the chances of getting good service in the event of emergency/claim.

Filled out an online form for a free quote for pet insurance, assuming it would be sent via email (as an email address was requested). On the laststage of the questionnaire it stated an agent would call me soon (not what I wanted). Today I received the call and ad I tried to explain to the agent that I was just looking around out of curiosity and was not yet ready to make a commitment, she rudely responded "Ok so why did you click on our website then?" I explained that i hadn't and it was part of an ad and she responded "Just so you know, when you fill out your details on any website you should expect a call". I was a little taken aback and tried to explain that I've had many experiences where quotes are simply emailed to me and she just continued to say "Well we're a digital company so obviously we will call you".

After this unprofessional experience I certainly won't be going to dotsure for pet insurance when I AM ready to insure.

Our daschund was attacked and killed by the dogs of a distant neighbour on our property on 12th April. THe neighbour told us "Not to worry, my dogs are fully insured with Dot Sure" Despite an affidavit from the person who saw the whole incident and an interview with the Vet, DotSure have rejected our claim. We are left without our beloved dog with a R14 000 Vet bill to pay.

Unsolicited calls from dotsure in contravention of the Popi act.

This is a company that will not respect your privacy even if mandated by law to do so.

Can't live up to the promises they tell the customer have stand for more than 2hours behoort they give notice they are busy with it after 100phone calls to them stay far away from they car insurance

Just a warning to all to stay far away from Dotsure pet insurance as you will hear allot of promises when purchasing the policy. But when the time comes for a claim the disappointment and unprofessionalism start. Even if you opt for a one of the highest coverages plans you will still find that very little if anything is covered by the policy, The policy is basically only for sudden unforeseen illnesses and then only up to a small amount. The T&C's are one sided written, that at the end of the day you as the customer will always lose. So in layman's terms their policies are not worth the paper it is written on. They seem to be only any good at making adverts and wonder if the actors in the adverts even know what they are representing. So if you want piece of mind rather save the monthly premiums separately and you will have much more funds available for unforeseen circumstances then these bunch will ever cover. My advise stay far away from them as if you look at Dotsure's stats on Complaintsboard.com they have a 0% complaint resolution rate on Hello Peter you will find the same or similar style of writing in their reviews which is a clear indication of self reviews and that is pretty much the worst and most dishonest insurance supplier you can ever get.

Absolute terrible service, this entire company is run on legal loopholes that avoids paying out its claims. I submitted a claim 7 months ago and have still not been paid out even though the claim was approved. 10/10 would not recommend.

I have been with Dotsure pet insurance for many years and have only had amazing experiences. I recommend them to everybody that need pet insurance.
