We checked our emails in support, and you have never contacted us. We also searched for your order, using your name, since you didn't provide your email address and we don't have any orders that match. We reached out to Trustpilot to request more information from you, but you didn't provide any details. We then flagged the review because it doesn't seem like a genuine experience you had with Echovita, but Trustpilot says they no longer ask the reviewer to provide documentation or details regarding their experience.

Frustrating and disappointing experience

I ordered a flower arrangement from Echovita on Thursday morning, to be delivered to a funeral home in time for 4:00 pm calling hours the following Saturday. I chose the funeral home’s address from the options on Echovita’s website. My credit card was charged immediately. At noon on Saturday, 4 hours before the service and more than 48 hours after my order was placed, I received a voicemail from Echovita telling me they were unable to fulfill my order because they don’t deliver to the address I requested - the very same address that was offered as a delivery option on their website. I don’t know why it took them 2 days to tell me they couldn’t fulfill my order, or why they have a delivery address on their website that they can’t deliver to. All in all, a frustrating and disappointing experience.

6/19/25 Responding to Echovita’s reply: Thank you for your reply. Perhaps there is an issue with your website that needs to be addressed. I would be happy to share screenshots, here on Trustpilot, to confirm that I in fact placed my order on the Echovita website, if there was a way to share them here. Also, no popup appeared when I placed the order. In any case, the issue with Echovita’s website offering a delivery address that they do not honor is on Echovita and not on any third party that they may relay an order to. Furthermore, Echovita should respect their responsibility to advise their customers of issues with an order in a timely manner. I trust this helps to clarify things,

**Echovita advertises to provide a service to those who have lost a loved one. However, I am appalled at Echovita’s unprofessionalism and lack of empathy, as evidenced in their condescending comments here.

We're sorry to hear about your experience. I would like to provide you with some clarity. You didn't receive a voicemail from Echovita. You recieved a voicemail from our partner, Blooms Today. Echovita is an obituary website, not a florist. Flowers ordered on our website are processed by Blooms Today and they assign each order to a local florist within the area of delivery. Typically, when someone attemps to place an order on our website, and no local florist is available in the area, a pop-up appears on the screen and the order cannot be placed. In this case, what may have happened is the local florist assigned the order no longer delivers to that address, but didn't notify Blooms Today until the day of delivery. This is unacceptable and we have already spoken to Blooms Today about this. You can contact Blooms Today by phone if you have any further questions about what happened with your order. A refund for your order was processed on June 15th.

We are fully aware you placed your flower order on Echovita, that is not something we disputed. We understand no pop-up appeared, which is why we said that maybe the local florist changed their area of delivery without informing our partner, Blooms Today, but as we stated, for that answer, you'd have to call Blooms Today directly. You may believe that things should work a certain way, but unfortunately, that's just not how it works. Echovita doesn't handle any flower orders, and when orders are being placed on our website for flowers, our system communicates with our partner's system to inform the customer if the order cannot be delivered to that address based on no local florist in their program being available in that area. Furthermore, Echovita doesn't communicate with the customer regarding their flower order once their order is placed, except for sending them their order confirmation email, which clearly states that if you need to modify your order or have questions or concerns regarding your order to call Blooms Today directly. If there are any issues with your order, the local florist is supposed to communicate that with Blooms Today in a timely manner, and they in turn, contact the customer via phone and/or email. To give you an exterior example of a similar situation, if you were to order food from a restaurant via Ubereats, for example, and the restaurant doesn't have any more of an item you ordered, they have to contact you to inform you, as Ubereats wouldn't be aware of which items they currently have or don't have. It is the restaurant's responsibility to communicate with the customer or to alter the available of their item on the app. Thank you.

Echovita appears to be unethical at best

Echovita appears to be minimally a morally corrupt business and taking advantage of the open internet. They "scrubbed" my Mom's obituary from a legitimate site, changed some content and made all sorts of mistakes. Example, listing a non-existing significant other, listing grandkids as both kids and grandkids. They then hope that friends, families and loved ones will purchase from their links. You can read of people's experiences on this site to see the numerous complaints.
They will reply to this review and tell me they are completely legitimate though based upon the number of "1 star" reviews, judge for yourself. Also, Google "Echovita Canada Report CBC" to read about them from August 4th, 2024.
June 10, 2025: Via Trustpilot, Echovita reached out and asked me for corrections which I gave, and they amended their version of the obituary. While this appreciated, I stand by my 1-star rating. With all the negative feedback listed on Trustpilot and bad actual news story press, it is easy to see this is not a one-off mistake for their "legitimate business."

Unauthorized Obituary- Echovita took the information from my…

Echovita took the information from my mother’s obituary on our CHOSEN mortuary site and created their own unauthorized obituary. I did not give them permission to do this and it is obvious from the layout of the page that the intent is to dupe people into purchasing trees, flowers, candles to show support to my family. This is an insensitive and awful thing to do to a family who is grieving a loved one. I have requested that the obituary page be taken down. The company says it may take three of more days to do so. I hope they follow through.

We organize all obituaries and death notices by city, so that people can see who passed away daily in selected cities of their choice with a free subscription. We do this in an effort to create as much support as possible for families. People can share their condolences for free with the family via email or social media. Families can post full obituaries on our website for free or submit the full obituary to be shared by us and replace the pre-existing death notice. Families can then claim the obituary with proper proof, such as a photo of the death certificate to receive money raised through sales or donate it towards a charity of their choosing. Pictures can be posted to create a memorial page for free by friends and family. Charged my credit card 3 times, and credited my credit card 2 times
I still await my refund

Post Script: my credit card shows 3 charges and 2 credits! The statement does not lie!

The flowers weren't delivered on February 11th, and your order was refunded on February 17th. You sent us an email today about this, and proceeded to throw out the false accusation that we charged you 3 times and credited your card 2 times. That is not true. We charged you one time when you placed your order and then we refunded you. There were no other charges. As I said in the email response we sent you, if there is some type of discrepancy on your credit card statement, then please reach out to your credit card company. I've checked our payment processing system, as well, which states we charged you one time and we processed a refund.

Update: You contacted approximately 10 times about this, and you continue to refuse to take our advice on how to proceed. You provided us with screenshots of your bank statements showing the charges, however, the screenshots you provided are from two different credit card numbers, one of which, did not make any transactions on our website. When we advised you of this, you said that after your purchase, you had cancelled your credit card and took a new credit card, so when we processed the refund, it showed up on your new card. We even provided you with a screenshot from our payment processing system showing you that the refund was processed. When you continued to repeat the same thing over and over again, we advised you that the best thing to do in this case is to contact your credit card company and create a dispute, so we can communicate directly with them if there is an issue. Since no dispute was created, that means you either didn't contact your credit card company, or you did contact them and they couldn't create a dispute because the refund was already completed.

Echovita took my wife’s obituary and changed it in order to profit from online sales of Memorial items and donations. I have requested the company remove the obituary. They changed just enough of the wording to skirt copyright infringement for our local news outlets and the funeral home

Incorrect times

Limited, erroneous information. I knew our mom was special, but even she does not require two different start times for the service and two different start times for burial. If you are re-posting an obituary, you have a responsibility to get the facts right concerning date and time.

By no means did they steal anything from an obituary. What they said was genuine and heartfelt. Thank you guys so very much. Should be shut down

0 stars. Taking advantage of people at their most vulnerable. You have no ethical right to re-write carefully written obituaries and create inauthentic & disrespectful fake ones, pulling & re-writing very personal info without permission. Families should not have to waste time requesting removal, you should not be mining people’s details for your own use in the first place. Absolutely disgusting company, pretending to provide a ‘service’ to the public. Re-writing the carefully written words of families without any consent is incredibly intrusive at a difficult time. The replies to the other reviews show a complete lack of self-awareness. You do not have consent to create these fake write-ups that can rank in Google even higher than what a family has written and appear real.

Long story short:
For lack of a better word or phrase This website is a scam.

Short story LONG:
I'm not sure how I would even classify this website,
What other possible reason would these people have to scour the internet looking for obituaries just to repost them on their own website WITH NO AUTHORIZATION?
I found both my father in law and my wife on their website and I can say for a FACT they did NOT HAVE permission.
what's more is we had already done an obituary both on the funeral home website and in the newspaper.
I'm sure almost every funeral home offers this, but My father in law and my wife's obituary both had the option to
" sign the book of condolences"
And/or.
" Light a candle"
And if you go look at an obituary on echovita.com you will see they too give you a similar offer, they give you the option to " light a candle" or " plant a tree" but in their case they
make you PAY FOR that.

ONE positive thing to say about it though,
Even though I don't know how or why they got the obituaries, when I contacted them and alsed them to cease and desist they did so IMMEDIATELY.

Echovita centralizes publicly available obituaries using basic facts only and categorizes them by city, allowing anyone interested to find out who passed away in their area. It's easy, free, and it informs more people of who has passed away, for example: former co-workers, old school friends, neighbors, and distant relatives.

Families can also create a death notice or memorial for a loved one for free to keep the memories of the deceased forever. We believe that families hold the copyright to the obituary they create, which is why we offer them to receive the profits generated through the crowdfunding service. If sales have been made from this obituary, families can choose to receive the money to help with the funeral expenses or to donate it to a charity in memory of the deceased. Echovita retains minimal revenue to ensure the maintenance of the platform which allows all interested parties to be informed of who passed away in their region. Once the funeral service is over, the obituaries turn into memorials and will forever preserve the many sympathy messages and photos / videos that have been shared by family and friends.
Like the majority of obituary websites and funeral home websites, it is free to leave condolence messages, and there is a cost for lighting candles and planting memorial trees.

They repost an obituary giving the address of the church service in another province. Plus when you go to the address given it is not even the name of the church.

The service is not until March 9th, so thankfully no one was directed to the wrong place. This was done in error and this was regarding one obituary. When reading your review, it was written as if this is something we always purposely do, which is not true. We have a 100% satisfaction guarantee or your money back for flower orders, which we abide by, so providing a wrong address wouldn't make sense for us to do on purpose. Thank you.

Terrible unethical company

Terrible company that takes official family obituaries and then creates their own unauthorized obituaries asking for donations. They created an unauthorized obituary with the incorrect address for the reception. I went to their website to have this unauthorized obit taken down. The website says it'll take up to 3 days to take it down which will be after the funeral. For a company to prey on grieving families is despicable.

They don't even deserve one star, the vultures!

I wouldn't even give them one star if offered the option! My dad died 5 days ago, & these vultures swooped in & totally butchered the obit, & excluded my husband, & all of my dad's grandchildren, among other things. The REAL obit was written by my mom, & is beautiful & really honors my dad's memory. I contacted Echovita to remove the obit (I admit I used some strong words--no bad words though--not my style), & we shall see where it goes from here. I literally felt sick to my stomach when I found my dad's inaccurate, unauthorized obit on there. If I have my way, they will not make ONE RED CENT off of my father's death. This should NOT be legal what they do. One day they will give an account before their Maker.

The Obituary you have done for a Matthew Zacamy needs to be taken down from the obituaries of Freeport page on Facebook. His family NEVER authorized it, nor what it said. They are currently trying to write up one that they want to share with other family and friends.

This Company strikes again with scams

This company has yet stole another information and is attempting to sell "service" for loved one that has passed away. We did not even give permission or let Echovita post the orbits. She has passed away in 2020. Do not support or donate money to this company. One quick look with search engine shows that it's not the first time Echovita has done this.

As reported in the media, Echovita operates in full compliance with the law. We are a Canadian organization that centralizes, aggregates, and amplifies publicly available obituaries to inform the general public of a passing. Our mission is to make public information more easily accessible, free of charge.

Similarly to a funeral home's offerings, a loved one can send flowers to the funeral home on their behalf or purchase other services in memory of the deceased: it is up to them to choose what suits them best. We are particularly sensitive to the wishes and requests made by friends and families of a deceased. Therefore, it is possible for them to request changes to an obituary published, remove the obituary or even publish the obituary themselves.

We removed the obituary. We sincerely apologize for any errors. Instead of leaving a review on a third party website, you could have contacted us directly or submitted a removal request via the obituary page. When obituaries are posted on the internet, we further share the basic facts only in a death notice format to inform society of who has passed away. We organize all obituaries and death notices by city, so that people can see who passed away daily in selected cities of their choice with a free subscription. We do this in an effort to create as much support as possible for families. People can share their condolences for free with the family via email or social media. Families can post full obituaries on our website for free or submit the full obituary to be shared by us and replace the pre-existing death notice. Families can then claim the obituary with proper proof, such as a photo of the death certificate to receive money raised through sales or donate it towards a charity of their choosing. Pictures can be posted to create a memorial page for free by friends and family. Any modifications, corrections, or requests for removal by the family or their representative are completed immediately upon receiving notification. We only have the best intentions and are truly sorry for your loss.

Ma soeur et moi avons fait chacune une commande de fleurs pour les mêmes funérailles à la même adresse sur leur site d'avis de décès. La commande de ma soeur a été confirmé et livré. Pour ma part, j'ai reçu un courriel en anglais me demandant de donné un autre adresse car il n'était pas possible de livrer à cette endroit. J'ai du communiqué avec eux. Le service à la clientèle est seulement en anglais. Donc j'ai demandé à ma soeur de communiquer avec eux car je ne parle pas très bien anglais. La personne a refusé de parler avec elle puisqu'elle n'était pas la personne qui avait fait la commande. Ma soeur a expliqué que je ne parlait pas anglais mais qu'elle avait le numéro de commande et nous avions le même nom de famille. La personne a refusé de lui parler et lui a raccroché la ligne au nez. Aucune possibilité pour moi de faire livrer des fleurs. J'ai envoyé un courriel leur demandant d'annuler ma commande. Une journée plus tard, j'ai reçu confirmation du remboursement de ma commande dans les 4 jours. Je ne peux pas comprendre la situation, à part, que l'adresse de ma soeur est en Ontario et que la mienne est au Québec. C'est la seule différence.
