This company’s communication is abysmal. We hired them in 2021 for bookkeeping and tax prep. They waited until the last day of the year to even start tax planning.

We got a quote in November for tax prep on 2 businesses and our personal return, which we accepted. They forgot that we had a 2nd business and when I followed up in February, they told me to just upload those files to my personal account. In March, they filed for an extension with the IRS on 1 business but not the 2nd one, which resulted in that return being filed late and incurring penalties. EcomCPA still won't acknowledge that they knew about this 2nd business and refused to be held responsible for the late fees even though I have copies of the agreement and the follow-up emails that I sent before the deadline.

The IRS gave them 3 weeks to respond to this letter and they still responded to it after that deadline as well.

Add this with the fact that their tax accountant made changes to my payroll without talking to me and when I asked what she would like me to do moving forward, she gave me tax advice that was very obviously incorrect. When I followed up with the owner, Jeremy, he wrote me back saying that the tax accountant was correct. I asked for a phone call to verify and when I spoke to Jeremy directly, he told me his operations manager, who is not a licensed CPA, was answering me from his email and indeed had been incorrect with the advice. The ops manager stayed on with the company over a year past this incident.

Horrendous experience. They sent us our draft returns (both corporate and personal) on Sunday 10/15 - the were due to the IRS on 10/13. In that same email they say "deposits must be initiated during business hours at least 1 business day before the date the deposit is
due." They set us up for complete failure here and it is inexcusable. We will now have late payments to the IRS because they didn't complete their work in time.

I needed a complete restructure, reconcile and overhaul of both of my businesses and accounting practices. I truly couldn’t have done it without the team. They have approached everything with empathy, understanding, patience and efficiency. Can’t recommend them enough.
