Votre équipe s’agrandit mais vous restez sur un modèle assez ancien d’expatriés sans tenir compte de l’évolution du monde de l’expatriation. Pas de segmentation, toujours les mêmes « offres », peu de nouveautés. Bref, un ronron sympathique que je ne peux dénier à votre initiative. Mais les temps changent, et alors que vous n’avez pas encore de véritables concurrents, vous pouvez vous remettre en question et en fonction de typologies différentes ouvrir votre blog à de nouveaux entrants pour élargir votre périmètre sans perdre votre ADN.
Sinon boire un coup avec vous lors d’une soirée pourquoi pas, c’est toujours sympa...

Best worldwide forum for people who want to make a home in a foreign country (a.k.a. expats). Individual questions (of almost any kind) can be asked on the open forum and are often answered by knowledgeable readers in similar situations - thus giving the opportunity to be part of a real community.

I've been on this forum since 2008. I am a contributor mostly, however, I also got some help re my move to Poland.
It is a good source of info for travelers. The rate of spam or scam I have faced there is minimum, the team does a good work on that.

Le site existe en plusieurs langues et tous ses forums ne sont pas égaux. Je peux comprendre certaines critiques négatives mais ceci n'est pas du à l'équipe qui gère le site mais plutôt aux membres qui le fréquentent et qui interviennent.
Alors bien sûr on trouvera toujours le mécontent qui n'a pas eu sa réponse ou qui s'est fait envoyer sur les roses. Mais n'oubliez pas que ceux qui vous répondent sont des gens comme vous, qu'ils sont bénévoles et que c'est par vos interventions que vous créez l'ambiance d'un forum

The site is strict but that means it's kept clear of the sort of stuff you so often see on info type sites
It's been really useful to me as an expat but I can see why it has some duff reviews, that being because the mods don't stand trolls and people pushing bad info.
For me that's a bonus because it means I can trust what info I get.
If your goal is dating or advertising, it's a bad site.
If your goal is getting good info, join that forum.

I am one of the animators of this site. And I always enjoy chatting for good and bad about each other's feelings. Because this expat forum never claimed to be perfect and / or to hold the absolute truth.
It should not be forgotten that everyone has the right to speak (as long as it remains politically correct) and to ask questions. But very regularly there are identical questions that keep coming up. So yes, because of this, there are times when the answers are quite dry or scathing.
There is also the phenomenon where newcomers come to ask a question and then disappear completely as if we were a subsidiary of Google ...
The filtering implemented to eliminate scams and others as much as possible is very effective but not perfect. This is why we integrate the possibility of reporting to admins even among new arrivals.
Despite this, we continue to respond again and again saying that our knowledge, however small, can help someone, it warms our hearts.
And we allow a few times to meet beautiful people. Or when we travel to another country to be able to ask those who live in the region to help us / welcome / ...

Site sérieux et conviviale ou l'on obtient les réponses aux questions posées

I tried to ask for advice on renting a house and the response I got was rude and grammatically incorrect.
Do not use Expat.com; there are many other organizations that are polite and professional.

Signed up for this site and forum.
I found that open and honest conversations regarding more controversial topics were not allowed as they feared they would offend "locals" and quickly shut the discussions down.
There very little people on the forum.

The majority of the people contributing to the forum were men or women looking to find a foreign person to try to scam in to marrying them and foreign people looking for advice on how to marry a local they met in a chat room (that were likely scamming them).

It had the entire "90 Day Fiance" vibe with a more international flare. If someone had more serious or practical questions other then how to get married or divorced there was no one there to reply. Only met people married to locals that did not really have a clue about practical things as they did not live in the country or poor people looking for meet someone to scam in to marrying them to get out of the country. Huge sad pathetic waste of time.

Biased and rude, mean people (in France or Mauritius) run this forum. Posted observations and opinions and within seconds of posting are attacked by apparently site owners with heavy, fat insults, personal attacks and even death wishes. Absolute disregard to their own policies and rules. Fine members deleted and marked as spam just for posting own opinion and observations. Been spammed massively by their members with multiple spam messages on the forum and reported them as spam just to find them live and well and unsuspended a year later. Reported personal attacks (by "report" button) and had my profile absolutely erased and banned for "spamming" within hours. The abuser was not suspended. Only me, the abused. Classified ads are removed for no reason. Since when freedom of speech and expressing one's own opinions is considered spam? Expat.com forum is unpredictable and a waste of everyone's time. Biased, nasty and brutish moderators, experts and hangers-ons tend to favour their own lofty ideals. Heavily orchestrated and framed discussion with hangers-ons and destination experts directing it according to their so called "expertise". The Vietnamese destination expert exaggerates heavily at every opportunity and doesn't even realise it.

'Likes' system abused by moderators, experts and hangers-ons, some of whom abused and harassed me. CEO will come online and 'like' the posts of the hangers-ons. No point reporting abuse to him or the mods. 'Private' messaging system used to communicate between members is not really 'private'.

In my experience with this site, there seems to be full of trolls lingering the site.
