They now seem to be giving an F to Amazon products whose reviews seem to be totally legit. Bought a Hyundai SSD anyway. Perfectly fine. They give an F to the Umidigi F1. Those reviews also seem to be real.

I compared some pages with obvious fake reviews and some with what appear to be legit ones and it gave the former an F and the latter an A. Seems to work, and fills a much needed role when Amazon reviews are so untrustworthy and useless.

I can only assume their bad score on here is due to paid reviewers trying to discredit them.

Fakespot is a scam site that targets companies having sold products on Amazon clamming they have algorithms that detect fake reviews then scoring them and posting there so called bot interpreted finding a score rating. The question is who is validating what they find? I guess if dig through this pile of 1 star reviews of both people and company owners wishing that they could rate them a negative 5 out of 5 stars or simply look in to what many others have said you will find that this scam outfit not only preys on companies knowing that people love looking at negative reviews even if there are 100 good ones. So what they do is attach a link to that companies website and park there site with their so called reviewed company knowing that people will click on it giving them a high click rating on google! "Stay Away" and Don't click on their unverified so called rating system.

I along with others will be asking many of you who's business has been falsely miss represented and slandered by Fakespot to join us in a class action lawsuit. Stay tuned on Facebook as we will beginning the process,

I've used fakespot for about 6 months. I understand machine learning still requires human data points and thresholds, and more data! Here is what I don't like: I have a new product on Amazon for which I've only heard good things directly from buyers, and on Amazon. There are only 4 reviews on Amazon, 2 of which are people that must have purchased through my Shopify store. On Amazon they are not "verified". I can't do anything about this.

I understand why Fakespot considers these unreliable. But not quite fair to give my product a D when there are only 4 reviews! There should be no grade at all, I think.

Great at spotting Fake Trip Advisor reviews. Not only did it save me from booking a company listed on Trip Advisor turns out the company isn't anything more than a website. Shady as hell. It's hard to see the fake reviews but with a little digging it was crystal clear. Seems like Trip Advisor is more interested in getting bookings than vetting their suppliers.

I bet most of the bad reviews on here are the people that get paid to write reviews.

Same as the other people on here. I always used fakespot. Something has happened to it. They are not trustworthy anymore. It's a shame.

for some products their ratings of products makes sense, but that was a while ago, and now, even things that my friends have bought that have legitimate reviews and are good products have a rating of F and it will say that if most of the reviews are positive, and will summarize things with an exact copy of the one bad reveiw that sounds very robotic and not real.

Fakespot says it is checking Amazon reviews, but the question is who is checking on Fakespot.

I was using this to check products on Amazon. I realized though that their formula must have problems with it, whether intentionally or unintentionally I don't know.

Just as an example, there is a product which has 240 reviews, only 19 are rated 3 stars or lower. Fakespot gives the product low reliability saying that only 40% of the reviews are reliable and it gives an adjusted rating from above 4 stars to less than 3 stars. That is, according to Fakespot, based on the reliable reviews, the product is < 3 stars. However, even if only 40% are considered reliable, Let's say that's 96 reviews are considered reliable and even say all 19 negative reviews are considered reliable. That leaves 77 reviews which are 4 stars or higher. Mathematically, it is impossible for 19 reviews of 3 stars or lower and 77 reviews which are 4 stars or higher to result in an adjusted review of less than 3 stars. Even if you take the worst case of all 19 negative reviews are 1 star (which they are not) and that all 77 positive reviews are only 4 stars (which they are not), that's still a 3.5 star rating.

Unlike ReviewMeta, Fakespot does not provide the metrics in how it decides on what reviews it ignores. That in itself is a red flag for possible abuse.

I recently found out about this company and the completely nefarious and false information that they provide people. Apparently, it is some kind of "link farm" where they have spidered Amazon's product database and if someone clicks on a product link from their web site, they get affiliate credit. I have some of the highest rated products in the US and my reviews are 100% real but they list my products with an F rating. They do this to just about every product it seems. I've sent an email to them letting them know I will sue them if they do not not stop slandering my product and company. We'll see what happens. If anybody has any contact information let me know because I want to put this dishonest web site out of business ASAP.

I just used this website for the 1st time for Tripadvisor for a lodge in Botswana called Vumburas Plains camp, owned by www.wilderness-safaris and i get a slam for 3200 USD per night so i was very angry.. I makes years they deleted without any notice my reviews for some companies and i was scam by some lodges displaying a rating a 4.5 on 5 when the real value is 1 or sometimes zero. And when a lodge or hotel has such rating, they feel confident to increase their rates at the level of hotels which have 4.5 but for good reasons as they really care about customers and the price is fair for the quality. Some it's a pure scam and they are right. Tripadvisor has obviously a lot of fakes and specially their ratings are fake as they deleted the bad reviews.

so for me it's more because many bads reviews are deleted without an notice. And the Fakespot comment 'Our engine detects that in general the reviewers have a positive sentiment." . I agree but just because bad comments are immediately deleted. I have many proofs of it and i can send them to Fakespot if they want.

Unfortunately only evaluations for Tripadvisor and Amazon are available and on Amazon : i used a lot them and if sometimes you have a small disappointment, i am mostly delighted by my purchases.
And you can resend back, and be refunded, if you don't like your purchase, but you can't rewind the time for bad vacations to to choose another lodge or hotel ! and this made a huge difference

If I could give this company negative 5 stars, I would and more. I'm a small business owner in Denver who takes pride in his work and does the right thing for his customers. I've worked hard to gain the reputation I have in Denver and now I have a competitor that's using this unreliable site to show potential customers that my reviews are fake. Fake? Really? If I have 30+ 5 star reviews and 1 bad review from a "customer" we have no record of, does that make sense? Wouldn't you think that if we did a bad job then we would have some or several bad reviews?? I've reached out 3 different times to fakespot with no response and I continue to lose business because of this unethical company. The truth is that there so called algorithm is a complete sham and they won't admit it as it will destroy there credibility. I'm even having to go as far as to get my lawyer involved, which will cost me more money, but it's worth it for the principle. I'll go even further if they continue to ignore me. I spoke with Yelp and there team did a test of good companies and bad companies, and some really bad companies got A ratings on fakespot. what a joke, seriously. Can you really sleep at night knowing that you're ruining good business in our country?? You'll be hearing from me. sincerely

Very unreliable now, my review rate was A for a year and changed from A to C overnight. Having 100% real honest reviews and now a C. Even emailed them without response.

Customer ratings on Amazon don't mean much anymore as some sellers pay money to get 5 star reviews. So a service like Fakespot is badly needed. I've tested it on a few products and it seems to give some good indication of the quality of reviews. I don't suspect Fakespot would be bribed by thousands of Amazon sellers but I do doubt how effective their methodology is. Having said that, before buying anything from Amazon I have gotten into the habit of passing it through Fakespot. It works well if used as an additional indicator together with product description, photos, and customer reviews on seller's site.

I used this website to scan an Amazon page for a new item that I already could see had literally 98%+ obviously fake reviews and it initially showed up as F-, bad, untrusted, etc. That was in September. Beginning of November there were 4 or 5 more reviews, real ones, mostly lukewarm to negative. I check the same page again on Fakespot - A+, trusted, reliable...

Just checked it out and it slapped an F on most of the websites I checked simply because most reviews come from people who have never used TripAdvisor before. Totally unreliable and bordering on negative slander on products that have no basis in truth.

One of the most useful websites I use. It works well at deciding which products have a large percentage of suspicious-looking reviews and saves me from reading through and discounting them myself. Of course, certain new reviewers may attract false positives, but overall the system works well. I just wish that Amazon would do something about this scourge - leaving fake reviews in exchange for free pound shop junk is a bit like peeing in the pool.

Helps me weed out the fake from the real. Shame their browser plugin costs money.

I used Fakespot until I decided to run the analysis on items that included reviews I had made, and found they highlighted that my account looks to be auto-generated and rated the review quality F. My Amazon account was created in 2004 - a Prime member with a verified purchase, if it can't distinguish between that and a typical bot-account review it is worse than useless, and actively presenting deceitful information as fact.
