Excellent genealogy website
Excellent genealogy website. Easy to use, the search engine allows enough refinement that there is no bombardment of poor matches. Lovely range of records (greedy - give me more) Would like to see more digital images of original registers/records as I have found a vast quantity of transcription errors (from many other web resources as well) over the time of my research. Perhaps you could make it possible for customers to request a review/change of/to a record by a qualified Palaeographer (though that could be problematical for requests from overeager subscribers). Would like to see expansion of digitizing legal records eg wills, land transactions, court cases etc (i know - time & money). Overall an excellent website at very reasonable prices - I highly commend the staff and happily recommend the resource to fellow researchers. Well done.

Easy to use and very helpful to have option to filter down to the individual record set that is required.
Feel some attention is needed where user goes to a transcription or image then "other records...etc" but if you look at those then try to go back, you go more than one screen so have to start looking at the record again, bit annoying.

We have passed over your feedback to the relevant department on your behalf. Here at Findmypast we have what is known as a fair use policy. You may access a maximum of 5,000 Records in any calendar month (Month), subject to a maximum of 500 Records in any 24 hour period (Limit).
The daily limit is reset every 24 hours and the monthly limit resets on the 1st of each month. You can read more about this policy here:

most of the time it verifies info on Ancestry, other times it gives info that is not available on Ancestry.
however sometimes, info on electoral rolls that should be there, isnt. which can be annoying.

The Search page is very user friendly
The Search page is very user friendly. It is easy to input information and narrow it down to year range+/- and county.
I do not though, like the new format put into place recently to research newspapers. It is very çlumsy' for want of a better word.'
The same with the census records. There isn't anywhere to input place of birth. Folks didn't always stay in the same place they were born. The location bar takes you to where they could now be living, but it would be helpful if you could then narrow that down by place of birth.
The optional keywords section, doesn't really help for that most of the time.
Despite these couple of issues for me, I overall find FMP very useful with my Family research.

When it comes to Census records if you click 'Search' followed by 'All Record Sets' it will allow you to search a specific Census with some extra filters such as birth place, town or county.

A Valuable Resource
Your presentation is clear and easy to navigate. Transcripts are reasonably complete and original images readily available.
Options to narrow or broaden searches are straightforward.
I understand handwritten old docs are often challenging but some transcribers (or AI?) don't exercise common sense and are misleading.
I use Irish Catholic parish registers a lot and transcripts miss entries entirely more often than one would hope. I cannot assume FMP has reliably captured say all the 'Peter Murphys' in a place or time.
Newspapers are good as far as they go. Early editions are like gold dust.
I appreciate that once I have paid your substantial fee there are no further costs.

I like FMP's Britishness
I been chasing my families for 30 years, am Australian and my forebears all came from Britain. I like FMP 's Britishness. I use Ancestry too as I've done my DNA. I think there is more care and analysis with the way records are presented on FMP and it is often easier to navigate records on FMP. For me FMP is an essential research tool.
