Tiguan went into emergency gearbox mode and was diagnosed with a position clutch sensor issue. After calling around other garages it was clear Gearbox gurus had the knowledge and experience to deal it immediately, whilst others would not acknowledge diagnostics I had already had done or sound familiar with the issue. Ross knew exactly what the problem was and swiftly arranged collection and returned the car within 24hr. A price was confirmed and he explained the issue (very common) and how they would fix it. Would highly recommend.

Great service from Ross at Gearbox Gurus with my wife’s 2014 A3 gearbox fault . Our local garage who normally services the car didn’t have expertise to fix it . Mechatronic unit diagnosed as fault and Ross had car picked up and fixed in 3 days with a replacement unit. It’s an expensive part but should keep her car on the road for quite a few more years yet . Ross walked through the costs before we committed to work and delivered as promised .

Ross and team went above and beyond fixing my Nissan Qashqai CVT gearbox. The company that supplied the car had done an absolutely shocking repair to the gearbox just to sell it on. Ross arranged collection of our vehicle to their workshop. Ross advised how badly repaired the gearbox was and that he was surprised it actually worked at all. He kept us well informed throughout the gearbox rebuild and advised of costs as the parts that needed replacement were significant, basically a brand new gearbox. I wouldn't hesitate in using Gearbox Gurus again.

Great service from Ross and the team. They analysed the faults with my DSG gearbox whilst i waited and after agreeing the fixed price they fixed everything in 2 days when others were quoting 2 weeks!

About two weeks after purchasing my car, I started getting a yellow warning light related to my DSG gearbox. Because the dealership I bought the car from was around 200 miles away, returning it there wasn’t practical. I spent around two months visiting different VAT-registered garages trying to diagnose the issue, but none of them were able to properly identify or fix the problem.

I eventually came across Gearbox Gurus and brought my car in for a diagnostic. Ross was extremely helpful and professional from the start, clearly explaining the diagnostic results and what the issue was with my gearbox.

Ross identified that the problem was with the gear selector, bought a brand new one from Germany and replaced it, and had everything fixed within about a week. The whole process was straightforward, transparent, and handled very professionally. Ross communicated very well with me over calls and messaging, updating me on everything.

I had a clutch position sensor issue with my Skoda Kodiaq (P1735), whereby the gearbox would occasionally only select even gears. Other garages had suggested the full replacement of the mechatronic unit, but after speaking to Ross I was able to take a different approach. Ross was extremely knowledgeable about the issue, explained it thoroughly, was able to get onto the job very quickly, and completed it in the the swift timeframe agreed. Three weeks on and the car is back to normal, and I have the peace of mind of a great warranty. Highly recommended.

Ross and the team did a Mechatronic repair on my Tiguan, communication was easy from the start and they knew exactly the issue and resolution. They got me booked in super quick and even arranged a collection service to help, I was really impressed with the whole experience.

A professional service, fixed my Audi DSG gearbox very quickly. I was kept informed all through the stages and with pictures sent to me. My initial diagnosis had pointed to the gearbox oil pump which Ross at Gearbox Gurus also diagnosed and initially changed it to eliminate the problem, but for my car it I had to change the complete mechatronics. Ross was not forceful or pressurising me into getting it done, he was happy to put the car back together and return it to me. I was happy to get the work done and proceeded. Very quick work, was going to get the car back the next day as the part was in stock, however the new part had a problem and had to order another from Germany which took 5-6 days longer and was done in the original agreed price at no extra labour cost for me. Got my car back and is running great, the follow up messages a week later from Ross just checking in on how the car is running shows he takes pride in his work and gives great customer service.
I don’t live in there area, but they sent a recovery truck at a very competitive price to pick my car up!

Highly recommend. I was passed Gearbox Guru’s details when my usual garage couldn’t sort the problem. Once I’d sent the request Ross called me to discuss, he accommodated getting my car is asap and managed to sort the problem, which provided to me very tricky! He also managed to stick to the original quote which I was extremely grateful for given the complexity of the job.

I took my 2008 Audi A3 to Gearbox Gurus as it was switching spontaneously between automatic and manual. Although originally diagnosed as a problem with the mechatronic unit, further investigation showed the unit was okay and the problem was with the gearbox which needed parts and full reconditioning. Ross was very helpful throughout and the price was 'ouch!' but competitive. Work comes with a 1 year guarantee.

I rarely post customer reviews, but this time it is a must. My car had an issue with the mechatronic unit, so became nearly non operational overnight. This is an expensive and highly technical and complex repair. I called several garages, including the official dealer, and all the news were not good. They all told me that the repair will take few weeks as they had to test first then ordered the parts. Thankfully I found Gearbox Gurus. I called Ross and he said they could fix it within 24-36 hours and at a good price. Took the car to them. During the wait, Ross kept me informed and up to date of the progress of the car. It all went to plan and after 24 hours they delivered the car to my house fully repaired. What a relief to see the car back in the house and functioning. Thank you Ross. You provided great customer experience. Highly recommended.

Highly recommend. I was saved thousands by Ross’s investigation into the issue with my ‘08 Volvo. He also included some very budget friendly measures to extend engine life. While out of the way from where I live I won’t trust anyone else with it now.

For over 20 years I've been working on my own car for things like oil service because I just couldn't find a garage that takes care of your car like your own - until now.
I initially took my car in (after shopping around elsewhere) for a faulty clutch on my automatic gearbox. Other places were either telling me there is no issue, or that the gearbox needs a full replacement.
I came to gearbox gurus and they went through a very thorough diagnostic and talked me through the exact problem.
Not only that, I got an oil service with actual good parts (I always use mann oil filters and they do too). I certainly know where I'll be taking my car for future maintenance!

I dont usually do many reviews, but this place really deserves it.
