We had an absolutely brilliant experience with Gordon Brown Law. We couldn't recommend them enough.
We were nervous as first time buyers, as you hear horror stories about solicitors, but from beginning to end, Gordon Brown Law were amazing, resulting in us going from offer accepted to completion in just under 8 weeks.
They were quick with paperwork and responses to any enquiries we had (with every email being replied to on the same day.) They communicated clearly and kept everything simple.
They use a really accessible app, meaning you know clearly what you need to do and when, and if anything is outstanding, and it also includes a timeline explaining where you are in the process- incredibly useful as first time buyers going through the process.
A massive shout out to our conveyancer Sara Thompson who was just incredible from beginning to end offering constant support and information throughout.

Poor service, lack of urgency, and unacceptable organisation
I had an extremely frustrating experience with this solicitor during the sale of my property. From start to finish, the communication was consistently poor. I was regularly left chasing for updates, and it became very clear that nothing moved forward unless I followed it up myself. There was no sense of proactivity or ownership of the process at all.
The overall lack of urgency was incredibly disappointing. At no point did it feel like they were making any real effort to progress the sale efficiently. For something as important and time-sensitive as a property transaction, this level of disengagement is simply not acceptable.
The most alarming part of the experience came on completion day. At around 3pm, I was contacted and asked where I wanted the sale funds to be transferred which issomething that should have been confirmed well in advance. This level of disorganisation is shocking and nearly caused my onward purchase to fall through, putting me under completely unnecessary stress at the last minute.
Overall, the service was reactive, disorganised, and far below the standard I expected. I would strongly advise others to think twice before using this firm if you value clear communication, professionalism, and a properly managed conveyancing process.

terrible 7 months with no contact
terrible 7 months with no contact and then they just reply as if you had emailed them yesterday , i eventually had to sort this out myself , Daniel hall their team leader didn't reply to multiple emails from September 2025 then replied today .thank god my issue wasn't urgent !

They never asked for a fee which they have put on the reply ! Which means it was your fault admit you were terrible and not capable instead of trying to blame your clients after emailing them 7 months later and after saying they could never get through to the estate agents office i managed to do it in 10 minutes , amazing ! as i said find a better solicitor

Having reviewed the matter, our records indicate that your file was placed on hold as we had not received the required fee to obtain the quotation from Shenstone, and we were therefore unable to proceed. In addition, the property had not yet been registered into your name, which was also necessary before we could move forward. We did communicate at the time that the matter would remain on hold until both of these points were resolved.
As we did not receive confirmation that the registration had been completed or that the fee had been paid, the file remained in a suspended state. When contact was re-established recently, you advised that these matters had since been resolved directly, and as a result, we confirmed that the file would be closed. However, it is important to note that the delay in progressing the matter was not due to inaction on our part, but because the required steps to allow us to proceed had not been completed.
