Great Rail Journeys is not great compared to AmaWaterways. They cut corners to save a few bucks (not even a glass of wine with the welcome dinner or at lunch on the boat, no porters to help with baggage during the rail portion, no airport transfers included) and this makes them look cheap. My basement room on the boat claimed to have a window but it was so dirty and pitted that you couldn’t see anything out of it. The tour guides were good as was the food (mostly).
