Booked the Bee Discovery for our family of 4. Helen is so enthusiastic and loving of the hobby, willing to share her years of knowledge and experience with others. We thoroughly enjoyed our experience!

We booked the Bee Discovery experience for two adults and our 11-year-old daughter. She absolutely loves bees, my wife has a real interest in them, and me? Well… I’m more of a “keep a safe distance and make sure there’s plenty of honey afterwards” kind of guy! 🐝😂

From the moment we arrived, the experience was fantastic. We started with a lovely meet and greet and some refreshments, where Helen chatted to us about what had sparked our interest and what we already knew about bees. She then explained all about her bees, how the hives work and answered the many, many questions our daughter had — all with an incredible amount of knowledge and enthusiasm.

Now, I’ll be honest… I expected to be the one standing at the back thinking, “I’ll just watch thanks.” But somehow, Helen had me completely drawn into it. I was genuinely fascinated and actually looking forward to getting closer to the bees!

Then came the moment… suits on and off we went.

We started with the smallest hive, which still seemed to contain thousands of bees! Surprisingly, they were incredibly calm. We then got to hold frames absolutely covered in bees — something I never thought I’d be doing when I woke up that morning!

We worked our way through several hives, finishing with the biggest one. You could hear the incredible buzzing as we opened it, but once again, the bees were remarkably calm and completely unbothered by us invading their world.

Then it was time to retreat to the lovely outhouse, remove the suits and, quite possibly, the best part of the whole experience…

THE HONEY!

We got to try lots of different types of honey with fresh toast. Our daughter and I were absolutely in our element and, in hindsight, probably ate considerably more than was socially acceptable.

And yes… we took some home. Actually, saying “some” is probably stretching the truth a little.

What genuinely surprised us was just how much we all enjoyed the experience. We went expecting our daughter to love it, my wife to enjoy it and me to tolerate it. Instead, it completely exceeded our expectations, and I came away genuinely fascinated by bees and the whole beekeeping process.

A fantastic experience delivered by a genuinely lovely, welcoming and incredibly knowledgeable lady. Helen made the whole experience relaxed, interesting, fun and something we’ll definitely remember.

Thank you, Helen, for a brilliant experience — and for turning a bloke who normally likes to keep bees at least 100 yards away into someone who was happily holding frames full of them!

If I could leave 10 stars I would!!

My husband, brother in law and I joined Helen for a Bee Discovery Experience bought as a birthday gift - it was a sensational morning. She is a hive (excuse the pun!!) of information about all things bees and honey. We donned full on bee keepers outfits and had a completely hands on experience including holding the frames, seeing all of the rainbow colours of the pollen collected from the surrounding countryside, piles of honey, and busy busy, but such calm and chilled out bees all going about their business!! There was also a second queen discovered during our session - very exciting for us and Helen.

An absolutely fascinating time with masses of questions answered and information imparted - we have all talked about it endlessly and recommended it to everybody ever since.

The end of the session was a wonderful relaxed sit down in the cabin eating honey on toast, honey with yogurt, just honey and honeycomb cut by us from one of the frames we handled. Delicious, delicious, delicious.

Helen's honey is of exceptional quality. My son, who experiences significant hay fever, has been consuming Helen's Adderbury and Milton honey daily for 18 months, resulting in a remarkable improvement in his symptoms. Helen consistently provides helpful and courteous service during our interactions. I highly recommend both her products and her approach to customer care.

Helen’s honey is loved by all of my family, the grandchildren have it everyday on their porridge, it is delicious on toast or in a sandwich. We use it in our cups of tea instead of sugar. It also works wonders as a soothing hot drink, honey with lemon as soon as we think we might have a cold coming.
Try it you will never buy anything else. It’s simply the best.

I was very pleased and excited to receive a Beekeeping Discovery Experience for Helens Local Honey as a Christmas gift last year. On visiting Helens Local Honey, I was amazed and thoroughly enjoyed the information Helen shared and the opportunity to visit and experience the hives. Helen was most welcoming and provided an informative session, anticipating and answering our questions and providing us with insights into beekeeping and honey production. A totally amazing and unforgettable experience. The fact that the experience ended with an opportunity to taste different batches of honey was an added bonus.

I was given a jar of this local honey, it really is the nicest honey I’ve ever tasted. It’s smooth, sweet, and has such a great natural flavour — you can tell it’s made with real care. I’ve never had anything quite like it. Just found out they have it in my village store so won't be buying any branded honey again.

We had a lovely afternoon with Helen doing a Beehive tour experience. Her expertise was shared with us, in such an honest and careful manner. Her love for what she does really comes out in her work. The tasting of honey afterwards was delicious. I highly recommend this experience to others adults and children alike.

I have been buying Helen’s honey for several years and the taste is amazing. Wouldn’t put anything else on my Greek yoghurt in a morning. My husband loves it in his porridge. The delivery is quick and efficient.

I came across these guys at a village fete in Bodicote. The thing that struck me was how they handled the bees - the gentle and compassionate way they treated/respected these insects. I hadn't realised that insects need welfare too. I bought some honey and we love it.
