Blocked account access
Update 04/06/2021: Still no access to my Wirex account. Wirex support keeps telling that they don't get information from the relevant team. They don't say who the relevant team is, and why they don't push them to get an answer. Again six weeks with no access to my account, and they tell me that they don't know the reason. I don't believe this is true, but I believe that Wirex is a scam!
Update 05/15/2021: According to Wirex (see Wirex answer), the FCA guidelines are to blame for the account freezes. According to Wirex, the FCA should then also be responsible for ensuring that blocked customers are not given a reason for weeks or months and that account access remains blocked. Wirex's statements are just ridiculous. They think their customers are stupid enough to buy these outrageous excuses. In my opinion, it has absolutely nothing to do with FCA regulations.
Experience report from 15/05/2021:
Blocked account access. Is the business model based on fraud? After detailed, personal experiences over the last 2 1/2 years, I have to confirm this assumption. Wirex is very likely a white-collar crime case. What I have experienced with Wirex in just 2 years is unbelievable. There are many problems, but the constant blocking of account access is the most serious and most outrageous problem of all. Wirex is increasingly blocking access to the account without any prior warning. When logging in, a short and meaningless message is displayed for a few seconds, which remains the same for weeks and months: "Sorry, your account is currently unavailable. Please contact Customer Support". No further information will be received from Wirex for the time being. If you contact Customer Service in writing, you will receive bot messages with ready-made texts that are meaningless. If you contact the "Escalation Team", which could also be bots, you get slightly adapted but still pointless texts. My account has been blocked again for the past 4 weeks. The Wirex Escalation and the Wirex Support Team cannot say anything about the reasons. Allegedly, the reasons are not known and there is no information available yet. That sounds like a mockery and a bad joke, but at Wirex it's a reality. In my opinion, Wirex is deliberately blocking numerous customer accounts. As long as customers cannot access their accounts, Wirex can do what they want with the money. I am convinced that this is part of the business model and that we are dealing with a case of white-collar crime. The fact that I am not the only or the first to report on blocked accounts confirms my suspicion. I also wrote to the press relations and management of the company via email and LinkedIn. There was no answer. I will not let Wirex get away with it and do everything in my power to inform others. Such companies must be held accountable, and they should be taken out of the market. Wirex harms countless customers and serious financial service providers. Financial authorities should take a closer look at such companies. I am happy to contact online and print media in the financial sector to help them bring the Wirex case to the public, via traditional and digital media. There are journalists who are interested in testimonials from Wirex customers. The stone starts rolling. Wirex should consider whether they can continue this business practice. Once the avalanche starts rolling, Wirex will not be able to stop it. Ignoring complaints from customers will not help them any longer.
