I originally went with a different publisher for my book and literally everything went wrong. HMD publishing took the broken pieces of my first edition, completely fixed everything, and made it look professional and perfect. They literally saved the day. Used HMD Publishing via Fiverr for the first time, and one thing that stood out to me was the quality and promptness of their communication and replies and how willing they were to undergo constant revisions by me just to get it right. Great communication is hard to come by these days. They were even on standby via chat while I was double checking the final files as I was on a time crunch. Very much appreciated. I used their book formatting service.

I really wanted to have a good experience with this company. I was looking for ongoing pre-press services and submitted 3 books to start. I've been in this business for 20-plus years so I'm very familiar with the backend process. I followed their submission instructions exactly and somehow, all the specs got mixed up on the backend, even though three different submission sheets were completed per their request. So I canceled two of the projects and went back to one book. There were still so many mistakes along the way. The book was made the wrong size, alignment issues, images not greyscaled, and in the end, the file was not set up properly for printing and distribution. It was supposed to be a two-week turnaround that took months. I had to start all over with another service provider to get it right. When I addressed it, the issue was turned around on me, instead of them taking responsibility. They said something like, "We can only work with what you gave us." Yes, and your job is to make what I gave you into print-ready files, and if that's not possible, to inform me right away, not months later. So, anyway, it was a complex project so maybe something super simple would have had a different outcome. My other service provider had it handled in a week.

HMD delivered what it promised. The team is solid and has been patient with me delivering on time.
