Tired Island in need of TLC
Travelling nearly 24 hours to get to this destination was a little bit frustrating and way too long.
Staff were very friendly and very helpful, except the day time buggy driver who was miserable and only interested in tips. The restaurant staff were excellent, and always happy to help, as were reception, although the ability to help was somewhat limited.
The air-conditioning worked well, keeping us cool.
The restaurant and reception had sand on the floors, which made it unique and a lovely touch.
The free snorkelling trip was good, but booked up quickly.
As it can be 1km from your room to the restaurant or bar, you may need the buggy service, which is sometimes very difficult to access, and frustrating when it does not arrive when promised.
The all-inclusive package is a must, although the food is not amazing, there is a good variety.
The place is tired, and where the damage is visible in the rooms and bar.
Cracked flooring in the pool area is highly dangerous and slippery when wet.
Recommend trying to find an Island closer to Male, with better snorkling.
The reception staff were poorly informed. You cannot walk around the island as they suggested and the dive centre was not functional.
Also the pier that allowed you to snorkel on the reef was out of service and is likely to be out of service for another year. Snorkelling is poor, but the weather was also not so good, so a lot of sand particles in the water reducing visibility. Staff were poorly informed with regards to locations for good snorkelling.
The rooms were clean, but with an outside open bathroom with lots of biting insects, it made it quite uncomfortable especially when it rained and the water came into the room under doors, bathroom and toilet.
If you go in the monsoon season, be aware of heavy rains and tides may come into the room.
At least five rooms have been damaged (collapsed) by the ocean and more likely to follow.
Furniture around the resort is worn out and uncomfortable to sit in, except for reception.
Our room 158 was right on the beach (nice) with high tide waves lapping the door step (evidence of flooding - not nice). 1km from restaurant, 200 yds from bar,
We will try an island closer to Male for our next visit to the Maldives.
