InsinkErator Sucks

I purchased a Badger 444 to replace and swap out my old Badger 333 at Canadian Tire, Unicity, Winnipeg. When I got home I could not find a power cord for the new until and the cord on the old unit was not compatible with the new unit. I returned to Canadian Tire and they had a cord there but it was not an EZ-Connect (what a joke name) power cord. I was the May long weekend everyone was closing early. So I could not finish my install. Due to the unusual two part black plastic wire connection with a female part and metal prongs is use in side a tiny hole in the bottom of the unit, I had a hell of time getting the plastic connector to properly fit within the bottom of the unit in the right orientation with wires sticking out of it. So after many attempts I had pulled the wire out of the plastic connector to many time and it would no longer securely hold the wires. I began to look online all over Winnipeg to find an "EZ Connect" power cord, what a joke. All this so InsinkErator can squeeze a few more bucks out its clients! I paid $400 plus dollars including tax for this unit you think you could include the paper cord I need to use it or at least have the courtesy to ensure your retailers have the proper powEr cord needed for the unit to work. Over the years I have instal a few Garburators, this new "EZ connect" system sucks and I will never buy another product from them.

I love my Insinkerator hot tap

I love my Insinkerator hot tap - I first had one on 2011 and when I moved home I had an Insinkerator installed straight away .I had
to replace the hot water tank recently , I contacted customer services and they emailed me a 20% discount code - I am well happy with my purchase , lovely instant boiling hot water , no need for kettles and no wires - would definitely recommend their hot tap & would purchase again if I ever move

NEVER, EVER INSINKERATOR call for service

Replaced a 12year old unit with a new one in December of 2025, after seven weeks it started making a grinding noise. I took a good look inside and could not see anything in there. Called their service number and was given the number of their service rep in our area. Called and the tech came out the same day. He located a little small screw in the fins and removed it, grinding noise gone. 10 minutes work and a bill for $282. This was outrageous and he would only take cash. The unit was only $570. brand new, 50% for a service call is ridicules. Now I know it was my fault for not seeing this screw in there and my wife and I have been going crazy trying to figure out where it could have possibly come from. Also I definitely should have inquired about the cost of the service call before hand. My take away from this experience is
NEVER,EVER call Insinkerator for service. Contact an honest local appliance repair guy and see how much he will charge to come out and look at it. Their service reflects very poorly on the brand and it shows me that their warranty is not worth the paper its written on.

My waste disposal was making a terrible…

My waste disposal was making a terrible noise. Utube offered several videos to fix the problem. Tried all the suggestions. In desperation phoned insinkerator and young lady suggested a fix which was something I had not tried. Amazing. Thankyou so much. Saved me the expense of an engineer . Excellent service

Spraying water under the sink because plastic part was bent inward.

There was an InSinkErator Evolution Premier in our house when we purchased it. There was a significant amount of water damage under the sink when we purchased the house. We never had a problem until after this holiday season when we had family visiting and we used the garbage disposal. We noticed the water under the sink a few days after they left. It took a while to figure out where it was coming from and finally noticed that water was spraying out between the garbage disposal and the rubber flange that was attached to it and the pipe when the garbage disposal was being used. We hardly ever use the garbage disposal....we either throw everything in the trash or we compost it...especially since we are on a septic system. Anyway, when my husband went to replace the rubber flange because he thought that was what the problem was, the inside plastic piece of the InSinkErator was bent inward which seemed very strange. He is a contractor and he's never seen that before. I wish I could post a photo here since I'd like to know if anyone has an idea what caused that. We can't seem to find anyone who has ever seen that happen to a garbage disposal before. My husband is going to take the garbage disposal apart when he has time to see if he can figure it out but in the meantime, I have posted a few photos online trying to see if anyone else has ever seen that happen. If the previous owners had put something down they garbage disposal they shouldn't have, I don't think it would have made it to the lower part so I can't imagine what in the world would have caused the thick plastic inside part on the lower half of the garbage disposal to bend inward. Regardless, I was told by the customer service agent at InSinkErator that that was normal wear and tear. It was an older model but I still find it hard to believe that it was normal wear and tear. There shouldn't be something trying to go around the outside of the plastic part for no reason. It should want to go through the large opening going into the pipe and nothing big should be in that lower section anyway if the upper part is chewing it up first. In a previous house, we had a different brand / model (less expensive than this one) and it lasted for 28 years. It just quit working one day - nothing was bent on it. I definitely wouldn't ever buy this model in the future for us and my husband wouldn't ever buy this for a client. We replaced it with an inexpensive MOEN garbage disposal.....the online reviews that I saw were actually a little bit better. The Evolution Premier is fairly expensive model and it doesn't seem like parts should be bending like that. In my opinion, it doesn't look like normal wear and tear. It looks like it had been a problem that had been going on for a long time.....prior to us buying the house ... hence water damage under the sink and especially since the metal on the one side where the plastic is bent inward is partially etched out and corroded (it's fine where the plastic is still in shape). Whatever caused that problem can't just happen overnight.

The unit began leaking from the side almost immediately, leading to water damage under my sink. Expecting a swift resolution, I contacted their customer service, only to be informed that a replacement would take 7 business days to arrive. This timeline was not only inconvenient considering the ongoing leak but was also inaccurate; the replacement took a full 14 days to reach me. Throughout this period, I received no updates or insights into the status of my replacement request, leaving me in a frustrating state of uncertainty. This lack of communication and the extended delay in resolving a clear product defect has significantly impacted my trust in Insinkerator. I would strongly advise potential customers to consider alternative options, as the after-sales support and product reliability are not up to standard.
