High Yield Investing Subscribers get Hosed.…

I have subscribed to High Yield Investing for over 10 years. A few years after subscribing I got an offer of $75 annual subscription fee for life. After they were bought by Investing Daily, they raised their renewal rate to $99 for all $75 for life subscribers. Not only did they raise their price, they no longer send a printed newsletter which saves them a lot of money. They are liars and I won't do business with a company like that.

My paid subsription through 2028 is no longer accessible online

I've happily had a subscription to their monthly mailed newsletter "Personal Finance" since 2011. Since they went to all-digital a few weeks ago, I no longer have access to their online content, even through my subscription is paid up through 2028.

Trying to access online provides this error message:

Welcome! As a valued subscriber you are logged into the Investing Daily suite of websites, but it appears that you do not have an active subscription to Personal Finance. Please visit your account page to view your active Investing Daily subscriptions.

I paid hundreds of dollars for a mailed newsletter, which now no longer exists, and I can't access the content online either.

I cancelled after 2 days because the recommendations were geared for very wealthy investors. The first reco required a $27,000 margin for one uncovered Put option! I have a smaller account and can't afford those type of trades, its really a service for millionaires. Problem is, they charged me anyway and refused to acknowledge my cancellation request, which guaranteed a free 3 month trial period. I have disputed the charge with my MasterCard account and hope I didn't get swindled by these guys. Be careful, I don't believe they honor their free trial period, so no refunds are forthcoming.

Velocity Trader (Jim Fink) - You can do better.

Here are the facts as I have experienced them being a member of Velocity Trader (Jim Fink). I'm a 40-year trading veteran, so I do know a little something about trading.

Each week we're provided on average a couple of spread trades to take. They can be debit or credit spreads. If by expiration the spread is in loss or odds are they will expire as a loss (or potential exercise threat), we are instructed to roll it over.

Okay, that's normal stuff. But here's the rub. The vast majority of the trades we get require being rolled over. And some over and over again, going for months and months into the future. This continues until at some point it is closed as a profit. This is where the "have not had a loss for x years" comes in.

But let's get real here. If your spread is in loss and you roll it over, it may not be considered a loss to the IRS (the 'wash rule'), but it really is a loss that you are looking to recover with the new spread (the roll). The wash rule is only meant to prevent you from writing off the loss for reasons you can look up. But it is still a loss. This service will tell you that because the IRS doesn't consider it a loss, it is not. Joke.

As a member, you expect to get more winning trades (not requiring rolling over) than losing ones. Forget it. The majority require abandoning one spread for a new one (roll over) in hopes to 'recover' and end up in profit. And if the rollover spread returns enough premium to cover it, it's considered still a positive trade. In reality, it's a new credit to offset a losing credit (no longer a credit of course).

When the majority of your initial spread trades require you to roll it over, this should tell you that their timing method is not that good at timing. My own tech analysis trumps theirs, and I've fortunately avoided a whole bunch of these rolled over spreads due to my tech work telling me "not a good idea to take this trade".

If you're not a very experienced trader, stay clear. If you are experienced (as I am), also stay clear.

I was hoping that their stated record of no losing trades in x number of years was real and would afford me a few extra spread trades each week (to compliment my long option trades) but turns out to be a waste of money.

PS: I've been a member for a few months so this is not a small sample size.

Jim Fink's suite of products is a scam

Jim Fink's suite of products is a scam. In the 1h BS video, Jim Fink only tells half of the story.
1) Jim Fink hides the fact that most of the trades are not profitable yet not accounted as a loss because of the rolling strategy that in many cases lasts for several years (!)...
2) Jim Fink sends the relevant action emails on Friday afternoon for immediate action, which was not revealed in the promotion clip. I live in Europe therefore cannot implement them because of the time difference.
3) Because of #2 I have asked for a refund and Jim Fink has refused it.
3) Jim Fink doesn't calculate the average performance of the trades allegedly because it's too complicated. A lie, it's not a complicated task for someone like Jim Fink who has managed a hedge fund.
4) Jim Fink says anyone can implement the strategy. It's a lie, they are complex option strategies and require experience in finance to be confident enough to implement them.
5) Stay away from Jim Fink's stack of lies

Do not subscribe with them, totally cheater

The most bad customer service ever. I subscribed to Velocity Trader Service from this company for the very nice promise in sales page of about more than 90% trade in profit. After I bought the subscription for $ 995 for 1 year I go inside and I saw that result are totally different from what promised, 1st closed trade have a lot of loosing trade and winning trade do not cover the lost one. Second they have open position for more than one year on lost that they roll each option expiration so they can take the lost not catabolized upon "ONE DAY", if ever will happen, they can close it in profit, so you will carry big loss for long time. Last one when I ask for a refund they say, this product if not refundable ( for sure you are cheater so do not refund customer) even if I clim it before 7 day that is the law, any purchase online have at least 7 day money back no question asked, but looks they do not follow the law. Very bad experience, I have all email with customer service that show my sincerity.
