Seriously awesome gear
I have gradually picked up a number of items from Iron Tanks. Their gear is just so well made, really functional (i.e. its made by people who use their own stuff clearly) and looks great.
I have a problem as a big bloke (2m, 175 kg power lifter) finding stuff that actually fits and doesnt just fall apart under pressure / sweat / constant gym abuse.

Built like a tank, looks a bit dodgy
I ordered an xs legacy subgle prong belt first based on their sizing guide and while it did fit it was on the last holes. I returned it and got an s instead. The whole process was quite smooth. Once i actually got to using it - it is very very very stiff. Like you could use it to kill someone. So, pretty good. But it was covered with this weird cheap feeling/ looking suede. But honestly its among the cheapest ipf approved lifting belts so it wouldnt be fair to be nit-picky. Havent used it long term but I feel like it would outlast me.

Regarding your belt - the Legacy is our base (and most popular) model. From there on, the Caliber, Quake and Hellraiser are a higher tier belt.
The outer layer used on this particular model is called Suede Amara. It is typically thinner than regular suede leather which is 1 to 2mm thick. Having a thinner outer layer allows us to use thicker leather layers inside the belt which increases the robustness (as you've noticed, the stiffness) of the belt and thus the overall support. The belt will break in and shape to your mid section over time.
