I had a great experience with the Iteach program while working to renew my teaching license in the state of Texas. I was a former educator in my home state NY, but left the field to raise a family. I unfortunately let my certification expire, which led me to renew it when I moved to Texas and pursued becoming a preschool teacher again. The program was flexible, easy to navigate, and provided the support and resources I needed throughout the process. The staff was responsive and helpful, making my certification journey smooth and manageable. I would highly recommend Iteach to anyone pursuing or renewing their Texas teaching credentials.

My experience with iTeach Texas
was very positive overall. The program gave me a clear pathway into teaching and helped me successfully complete my clinical teaching experience and certification requirements. I appreciated that the coursework connected well with real classroom situations, especially lesson planning, classroom management, and student engagement strategies.

The staff and field supervisors were supportive and responsive whenever I had questions. I also liked that the program encouraged reflection and growth throughout the clinical teaching process rather than focusing only on completing assignments.

One thing iTeach does well is preparing candidates for real classroom expectations through observations, feedback, and practical teaching experience. The certification process can feel overwhelming at times, but the support resources and communication helped me stay on track.

I received my BS in Elementary ED with a minor in Elementary School Health years ago but I really had no desire to teach. I was going to be content working in the neighborhood recreation facility. Before I embarked in that direction, a friend asked me to sub at his elementary school as a PE Teacher. Because I never did my student teaching while I was in college, i was not able to get a teaching license. I was offered and took a job as a PE assistant. It took 20 years for Iteach to launch so I could continue to work while doing my student teaching. Finishing this program allowed me to earn what I was due as the teacher of record. Thanks to Rod Knowles who hired me to be the assistant to his PE teacher 22 years ago and thanks to Sarah A Popek for finding the Iteach information in her email.

I feel that sometimes, rather than making things easier, they made them unnecessarily complicated

It was easy to comprehend, convenient to set your own schedule, and all teachers and staff communicated professionally and kindly.

My experience with iteach has been overwhelmingly positive. The program provided clear, well- structured pathway into the classroom while still allowing me the flexibility to balance work, social life, and coursework. Every module was practical, relevant, and grounded in real instructional needs. I would highly recommend this program to anyone pursuing a high- quality alternative certification. Thank you Iteach.

Easy to use and helpful staff during the process.

Courses contained useful material. Mentors were helpful in providing useful feedback.

At times I wished I could have moved on in courses before waiting for my a assignments to be graded (i.e. started new readingsfor the next section while the teacher was grading my assignment).

Another review started with if I could give 0 stars I would. First they do not hold up their end of the bargain. There were many points in time where assignments went ungraded for weeks on end, far outside of their policy. But when you, for unforeseen circumstances need to unenroll from the program all of a sudden they rely on internal policy to charge you. Shame on you iTeach for a complete lack of customer service and compassion. Beware if you enter the program they won’t do what they say but expect to hold their customers to a different standard.

The staff at Iteach is very helpful in the whole process.

My experience with iteach Texas was extremely disappointing. The courses are advertised as self paced, but in reality you constantly have to send reminder emails just to get your work graded. There was a time I waited over a week for grading, and it was not during a holiday period. That is unacceptable when you are actively trying to complete certification requirements.

If you are working as an aide or already teaching while finishing certification, be aware that they do not answer the phone between 11.30 a.m. and 1.00 p.m. Monday through Thursday. Their office hours end at 4.00 p.m., which makes it very difficult to reach anyone if you are working a full school day. Most communication takes at least 24 hours for a response by email, which adds unnecessary delays to an already stressful process.

In terms of preparation, the content was not very useful. Real classroom experience was far more valuable. Even one day workshops and conferences provided more practical and applicable information. When it came to writing lesson plans and developing assessments, I found that experienced teachers and outside resources were far more helpful. The study materials provided for the content test and PPR were not helpful in my experience. I failed my first exam by a few points after relying on their materials. After switching to 240 Tutoring, which only cost about 40 dollars, I passed my remaining exams without issue.

I also had to retake a test I had already passed because a new version was released just days before I submitted for certification. I was initially approved, then unapproved, and required to pay 140 dollars to take the new exam, which had previously cost 110 dollars. Candidates are also required to pay an additional 500 dollars to access study materials, whether or not they are effective. For a program that serves future teachers, the cost feels excessive and not justified by the level of support provided.

Overall, the program felt more focused on collecting fees than supporting candidates. Considering the current teacher shortage and how little teachers are paid, I expected more professionalism and support. I would not recommend going through iteach Texas and would strongly encourage others to research alternative certification programs before committing.
