I've rented pocket wifi from japan-rail-pass.co.uk on 2 separate occasions. The first occasion was back in 2018 when I went to Fukuoka, I bought 8 days worth of wifi for £43.00. Unlike other services I've tried where I would need to exchange a voucher to collect upon arrival at the airport. This time I had to pick up a parcel at the Yamato Transport Counter at my chosen airport - Fukuoka Airport International Terminal on the 1st Floor (all details/instructions/tracking info are sent by email). Before flying home I had to post it back using the provided hard envelope by dropping it into the postbox outside Fukuoka Airport, it was easy and simple. The coverage was great throughout Fukuoka, Kurume, and Kumamoto. Last year mid April, I went to Japan for 3 weeks and ordered another pocket wifi which costed me £77 for a total of 21 days. This time I had it delivered to Haneda Tokyo Airport. Again, good coverage throughout Japan. But I think it was about 1 and a half weeks in when I went to visit Tokushima, I had no signal for half a day even when turning it on and off. When I finally returned back to my hotel in Takamatsu, I used the hotel wifi to email the support team at Global Advanced Communications (which was the wifi provider) and they instructed me on how to reset the wifi. The little pouch that the device came with will also have a leaflet which told me that if I had any problems I could just email them. After resetting it, all was back to normal and I didn't have any problems for the rest of my trip. Great experience overall, prices are a bit more than some other companies but prompt confirmation and good customer service.
