Different versions of stories, expected to wait in 2 days for a delivery and then the aggression
I contacted Kenny Fuels via email on Sunday and on the basis of the email, made an order. It was to arrive today.
After 4 phone calls, various versions of when it would arrive etc and over an hour and what appeared to be someone lying cos ….my order isn’t turning up today. Although I was told repeatedly it was on the sheet for delivery today.
I cancelled my order and asked to speak to the owner. Instead of saying, he’s busy and will ring you later, I was put through to an EXTREMELy aggressive woman, Amy, who wasn’t the owner at all. Time wasting on top of everything else.
I made known that I was here alone with my autistic kid. But that clearly didn’t matter.
She told me about how their delivery system works. I asked her to stop cos I was on and off the phone for over an hour and my autistic kid was here beside me.
She told me Dublin deliveries are Tuesday and Thursday. I was also told Dublin deliveries are Wednesday and Friday via mail. The driver told me he does half on Wednesday and half on Thursday. But he was definitely delivering in Dublin today, Wednesday, just not my area. (Everyone had their own version, none of which was getting me my delivery when expected. I didn’t know who was telling the truth and who was lying to me. )
I explained that I was here with my autistic child so please to stop shouting but that didn’t stop the woman screaming down the phone and laughing at me. Apparently the laughing was just a “deep breath”. When I said if I was getting so many versions of the story, someone must be lying, she told me I was lying about stuff, which made no sense at all other than to insult me. What would I lie about?
I was listening to different versions of the same story and getting frustrated by it. That is true.
The first guy in the office and Shane, the driver, were at least courteous.
Having ignored my saying about my autistic kid being affected because Amy was shouting down the phone so aggressively, I had to move away from my kid into another room.
It isn’t ok or acceptable. From anyone, ever. Sheer abuse. I couldn’t understand why I’d be transferred to her when I asked for the owner except to be abused.
Order is cancelled. I don’t even feel like I can be sure I will get my money back. So it may be one that I will flag to the consumer rights. Totally fed up.
I edited this to add:
I did ring Shane, driver, to tell him to not deliver onto my premises. He was again was only nice and I told him what had happened, he assured me that Ciaran the owner was a genuinely decent guy and wouldn’t be happy about the whole situation.
I also sent an email to confirm the cancellation in case there was any “mix up”. This is the low level things were left at and where my fears/expectations were at.
Meanwhile my kid wouldn’t come near me cos he was upset by what he heard. Which won’t change with some reassuring words unfortunately. It’ll take its own time over the coming days to work itself, the anxiety and stress, out. What an absolute mess.
I have come in edit this in part cos I was VERY upset when I wrote the review initially. It’s probably still repetitive.
But also to say that Ciaran, the owner, did ring me and he was, as Shane said, decent. He kindly offered to deliver the bark tomorrow for free, which I couldn’t accept. But I appreciated the gesture and also his sincerity. For neither of us is it about the money. For him, it’s his good name and for me, it’s that I won’t accept that treatment nor was I walking away without someone in the company being aware of the abuse. I asked him to simply address what happened, why that conversation was so abusive. I don’t want or expect anything.
Things go wrong, that is life! How it is handled is where it matters. So I am assuming the very abusive call I was unfortunate to experience today was not something acceptable within Kenny Fuels. I understood that from Shane, from Ciaran Kenny.
I forgot to even mention to Ciaran that I was called a liar on the phone. Just nonsensical. It was abuse for abuse’s sake, nothing more and nothing less. And all for a bag of bark. That my autistic kid will actually ultimately pay for, for some days to come, is beyond frustrating. It’s so unfair.
I clearly didn’t put the phone down quickly enough but I DID put the phone down, with the warning that I was about to and she still kept on…..and on.
I don’t know how she has the time to waste nor how this could be acceptable conduct in any work place. As I said to Shane, if someone like that worked for me, she’d have been sacked yesterday.
