Their service is absolutely horrible. They deliver items separately. Then cancel the order and initiate a refund after 7 days of no update. Why approve a payment on something you don’t have??

This is an absolute disgrace of a website—hands down the worst in South Africa. They should just shut the whole thing down.
I placed an order for several fans, only for it to be cancelled on the scheduled delivery day—with no notification whatsoever. To make matters worse, I still haven't received a refund.
Makro incompetent and unable to full fill online order
An order was placed online with Makro on 2026/02/19.
Subsequent to a failed delivery, it was established that the order was cancelled on 2026/02/25 without any notice or reasons given.
To date, 2026/03/04, I have not received any communication from Makro or the refund for the order.
Upon enquiry and phoning the Makro customer line, they only stated the 3rd party supplier could not fulfill the order.
No responsibility is taken from Makro regarding the failed service delivery or the fact that I have not received my refund yet.
Makro advertises a false service that they cannot deliver.
This is not the first order I've placed online that's been cancelled without notice or subsequent notification and where I had issues with the refund to take place.

Purchased a fridge from macro,received an email confirmation that delivery will b on the 28th of Feb,when and purchased all my meat stuff,only to have waited the entire day and my fridge was not delivered, call in macro call center on the 1st of March and was told my order was cancelled and a refund is in process ,but I was not informed abt my fridge being cancelled nor did I cancel it,reason that was given was delivery was suppose to be on the 27th and therfore Springfield macro cancelled my purchase ,this is very unprofessional ,who is going to compensate me for my meat that I purchased and it went off ,I was under the impression Macro is such a reputable company and I never expected this time of service
Worst service ever
Worst service ever. Never order anything online from Makro, you're basically burning money away for no reason. I'm still waiting on an order placed on the 18th of Feb. The track is no help as the status doesn't move. No update emails, sms or any sort of communication unless you seek it out. Even an order that was made after the 18th from Amazon arrived and Makro still has yet to deliver.

Totally disgusting service, dont ever buy from them. Received damaged product after one a half weeks after paying for it, did not sign for it and sent back immediately with delivery vehicle. Took pictures and send to makro and absolutely no correspondence received from them. Been two weeks now and despite calling them everyday still getting nowhere. Will never ever recommend this store to anybody.
3rd Party spam calls. Against CPA and POPI
When I signed up with Makro, I specifically checked the box at the bottom of the form that said "I do not wish to be contacted for 3rd party marketing"
Makro has given my contact details to other companies to spam call me and try sell me services.
Blue Label connect is now contacting me to try sell me services.
This is against CPA law and POPI
MAKRO REFUND SOLUTION
Makro is known for its terrible service and taking peoples money. If you are a victim from them then just log a complaint by CGSO which is the Consumer Goods and Services Ombud. I did this and received my refund the next day after battling weeks with them. I hope the post helps someone

My experience with Makro’s online service has been absolutely unacceptable.
I purchased a bicycle for my husband through their online store. The ordering process and delivery were smooth, and the item arrived on time. However, once he tried the bike, he realised it was too large for him. We immediately requested a return and refund in line with their stated policy.
Today marks two full weeks since that request, and the bicycle is still sitting in my home because no one has come to collect it.
I have followed up repeatedly. Each time, I am met with scripted apologies and no meaningful action. There is no accountability, no clear communication, and no sense of urgency. It is incredibly frustrating to be left in limbo after already paying for the product and doing everything required on my side.
It is deeply disappointing that a large retailer cannot manage something as basic as a scheduled return. The lack of service, coordination, and ownership is shocking.
Based on this experience, I strongly caution anyone considering purchasing from Makro online to think twice. The buying process may appear smooth, but if something goes wrong, be prepared for a drawn-out and frustrating ordeal.
Muckro should be their new name
I ordered a well known brand stainless steel pressure cooker and received a crappy already unboxed item that is made of aluminium no brand name, the quality is a shocker. So Makro is allowing third party sellers to peddle their crap under the guise that it’s a well known brand, the box I received was so damaged and held together with plastic wrap that one can see it’s been sold a number of times and returned. Scams are one thing but this is just a scam and Makro slow it. It’s beyond disgraceful and the customer care was a nightmare to deal with.
USELESS
I wish I read the reviews before buying from Makro online. Ordered 21 Jan, 2 weeks layer nothing. 5 calls later you dont get anywhere, no service and now almost month later still waiting for my refund! They advertise stock that they dont have, the call centre cant speak to suppliers...just STAY AWAY! Save yourself the agony of paying money for something you just wont get!

I’m extremely disappointed with my experience — I purchased an item from their online shop and have been waiting over three weeks for delivery, with no clear communication unless I repeatedly follow up by email. Online shopping is meant to be convenient, but this has been a complete nightmare. Phone support was unhelpful, the call got cut off, and the background noise on the support line was so loud with people laughing and chatting that I could barely hear the operator. Overall, very poor communication, unprofessional customer service, and a frustrating shopping experience.
Terrible Makro-online service
Terrible, terrible, terrible service from Makro online. I ordered a standing mirror. Delivery date: 4 Feb 2026 - no delivery. When I phoned the FIRST time I was told the courier did not collect the parcel, but I will be kept up to date on the tracking of the order. NO communication for 5 days. When I phoned the SECOND time I was told there might be a stock issue but I will be contacted by a manager. Still I have had NO feedback of any sorts. They have absolutely no customer service . Never again!

In December, we purchased a gas stove for R28,000. The product description was unclear, and we were under the impression that it was a gas hob with an electric oven. When the stove was delivered two weeks later, we discovered that it was in fact a full gas stove, including a gas oven — which was not what we intended to purchase.
We immediately logged a return. The stove was collected from us, and since then we have had to call every single week just to get an update. There has been absolutely no proactive communication.
Chef’s Pride has refused to get involved, stating that they are a third party and have a trading agreement with Makro preventing them from engaging directly with customers. I was informed by Jason from Chef’s Pride that they are unable to provide feedback due to this agreement. That internal arrangement does not absolve either party of responsibility. The product carries the Chef’s Pride name, and Makro handled the sale — both brands are linked to this experience.
Today — mid-February — the very same stove was delivered back to us. After contacting Makro, we were told they “do not know” about the return and that it will be escalated again.
This is completely unacceptable.
We have been without resolution for nearly two months. There has been no accountability, no clear communication, and no urgency. The level of service is shocking and deeply disappointing.
What makes this even more concerning is the lack of transparency. There is no clear platform to leave a proper public review for Makro on Google, and public comments cannot be left on their Facebook page. That raises serious concerns about accountability.
Customers should not have to fight this hard for basic service, honesty, and resolution. I will never purchase from Makro again, and this entire experience has left a lasting negative impression.
Extremely disappointing experience
Extremely disappointing experience! wish I could give 0 stars if that were possible. The fan I purchased was not as advertised on Makro’s website. The listing showed a two-pack with specific blade and wattage details, but the product delivered was a different brand entirely, with damaged parts, incorrect wattage, and a manual that doesn’t even match the fan.
Important components mentioned in the instructions were missing, and the packaging looked as if random parts were put together just to work. To make matters worse, when I contacted customer service to request a return or exchange, the consultant laughed and implied it was my fault for ordering online.
This reflects poor quality control, misleading advertising, and unacceptable customer service. I expected far better from a company of this size.
Wrong item delivered twice
I was gifted a baby bouncer for my baby shower, the wrong one was delivered so we logged the return to swap for the right one,we did this online , for the second time the wrong one was delivered. We called makro for assistance and again told log online the return, there was nothing they could do . the reason for the call was to avoid the same issue happening again. It seems Makro sell products through third parties and do not have the information of the supplier to assist with resolutions. It is shocking feedback to be told by the company you purchased from that they cannot assist further when you have had the same issue twice and require more assistance. Both times the package was incorrectly labelled. Surely Makro would want to follow up with their suppliers to ensure items are being labelled correctly and that their clients do not receive the wrong things time and time again, seems not. The call centre agent was unable to help in besides saying log the return. We will do this again and hope for the best.

Absolutely shocking experience. Order promised in 7 days and they obviously take the money immediately. After 10 days not even shipped yet and no communication. Sent an email and they said sorry item no longer available and will return your money in 7-14 working days !
