Ordered floor sander
Ordered floor sander. Booked hotel for a 2 days job. Had to buy sanding sheets up front , not “sale and return” like most firms. At 11 am on day of delivery was e mailed saying one wasn’t available !! Agreed to receive one the following day BUT only to pay for 1 day as I had to leave the job and asked for a day’s refund. Two weeks later and after chasing with no reply, I have paid for 2 days and only had it for one , and the unreliability means I wasted a hotel expense and lost a day’s work. No response, no support. Took 2 days hire payment for a 1 day hire. Either highly incompetent or crooks. Run away!

Scam - do not use
Paid for delivery of a lawn mower for 24 hours. Was contacted to say there was one available but for £24 more so paid that on top of the £62 I’d already paid. Delivery day arrived but sadly no delivery. Called the company they had supposedly contracted the hire to and they had no order details. Very convincing website but sadly it’s a scam. Do not use.

We did successfully place the order with Speedy first thing on the 15th ready for your hire on the 17th. The first time we heard that the kit had not been delivered is when you contacted our team to let us know you had not received it.
This is completely not acceptable and not what we expect from our suppliers!
I will look into this further with Speedy and make sure they are aware of this.
I can see you were fully refunded but understand this does not change the experience you had

This company will not pay my £500 deposit back. Numerous emails & 4 telephone calls. Every time they say they are escalating the problem but I still don't receive my depost back after 2 months!
They are in breach of contract and should be prosecuted for fraud.
PLEASE DO NOT USE.
Update: Mammoth Hire Have asked me contact them about this issue to a non-working email address.
So, yet more diversion tactics.

Worked well for us
I had ordered through this company before reading the reviews - and panic set in! However, everything went smoothly. I did need to call to extend the hire and report missing items, but I was called back in a timely manner and everything was resolved really quickly. The contractor was great; communicated well and delivered and collected the items on time. A few glitches but overall no complaints!

Utterly useless
Utterly useless, would be zero stars if that was an option. Ordered a floor sander a week ahead of requested delivery. Tried to contact them the day before delivery to confirm all was well but phone number is not answered and no reply to the website chat function. Finally received an email at 10am on the expected day of delivery to say they had no stock.
Don't waste your money with this company, check the other reviews. You are probably better off dealing with the dodgy bloke down the local pub than this bunch.

Checked out this company as I needed to hire a 5 m stair scaffold. I ordered and paid for it, booked the delivery and got the confirmation of the hire including all the parts that were going to arrive.
On the day it was due to be delivered I got an email saying there was none available for that day and that it would be delivered the next day if I’d like to go ahead. I confirmed again all the details and they said it would arrive the next day.
I contacted them the next day and asked for an eta, they told me a colleague was organising the hire so she would get back to me asap. An hour later I got another email saying that the item was not available from their supplier and they would try and source another.
I still have not heard from them even tho I’ve paid the full hire amount.
DO NOT HIRE FROM THESE SHOCKING!!!!!!

I wish i'd read the reviews here first before booking - lesson learned there.
Hired a micro digger through Mammoth Hire. The Item was delivered and collected as agreed, but, I cant get them to return my £500 deposit.
I contacted live chat after 21 days to be told its 21 'working days', emailed the help email after 21 working days, that was ignored. Contacted myexperience @ nationaltoolhire.co.uk and had a response that they were looking into it urgently. Still nothing. Contacted again, email ignored.
Six weeks later and still no closer to getting my deposit back.
So im done. Im now pursuing the return through my Credit card company via Section 75.
Use a local hire company instead, I reckon this lot are in trouble and holding deposits as a float of some sort.

A terrible company
A terrible company. I ordered an air con unit 1 week in advance. The day before delivery I contacted them via chat bot to confirm the time of delivery, after seeing the payment had been processed 24 hours before. They emailed back to say the order couldn’t be fulfilled, offered no alternative and I haven’t been able to get any kind of contact since. This is an unlawful breach of contract! The phone number is always engaged and the chat bot is always going to be with me shortly. AVOID!!!

Firstly, I’m sorry that you had such difficulty getting through to us. Waiting 40 minutes is not acceptable, and I completely understand your frustration. Our phone lines can be extremely busy at times, but we do always aim to answer and respond to all our customers as quickly as possible.
I have reviewed the notes on your order and can see that the additional charges were for fuel, a face protection kit and a damage waiver. These are all required for this particular piece of equipment, and I understand that our team explained this to you when you were eventually able to get through to us.
These charges would have been displayed before you confirmed the order, although I appreciate that they were not shown on the initial product page. I understand how this could have caused some confusion.

Order no# 246353 …Absolutely diabolical experience with this company, I would advise no one to use their services. I booked the hire of a cement mixer for a job I had planned the next day. I received a call from the company to ask if I could take delivery of the mixer the day before, which was not convenient, but I decided to go ahead. I paid for morning delivery but did not receive the mixer till 4 pm, which was very inconvenient as I had planned to go to WORK that afternoon. When the mixer was finally delivered, the breaker was not included, this breaker was not optional and was a £7 additional charge, but they just decided they didn’t have any in stock and wasn’t going to bring it. I was not happy about anyone using the mixer without the breaker so did not use it. The only way to contact this company seems to be online chat, whoever is at the end of the online chat is absolutely useless, I put in three complaints to them, and asked them to contact me, to get a breaker delivered to me, but they just did not respond or get back to me, when the off hire day came I waited in all day for this mixer to be collected, they never turned up! And in fact they didn’t turn up until two weeks later when they just randomly knocked at my door, luckily I was in!!! Honestly, do yourself a favour and do not use this company, I have asked for my money back several times and had no response, in fact I have had no contact from them whatsoever, luckily I paid on my credit card and ask the Credit Card to arrange a charge back, they did this and I’ve got my money back, but the company were not interested at all!!! please stay clear!!
Would love to discuss this with mammoth hire if they could be bothered to call me to discuss the multiple written complaints they have ignored Order no# 246353
UPDATE … just to let everyone know, Mammoth hires response on here is complete lies, I was never informed that the RCD breaker was not going to be included, and it was never advised that the 1:30 pm delivery time I paid extra for may not go ahead! Despite all the problems no refund was ever offered, in fact to date they have still not got in touch with me, just left a response to my review on here, as previously stated I got a full refund from my credit card as the credit card company was in complete agreement that full refund was required. Please avoid this company.

The Priority Delivery service you paid for states that we endeavour to deliver by 1:30pm. As Mammoth Hire operates as a network, we do not directly supply or transport the equipment ourselves, and therefore we cannot guarantee delivery by 1:30pm. Delivery times can also be affected by circumstances such as traffic and delays on the route.
Our records show that your live chat was responded to immediately. Our colleague contacted the supplier, One Stop Hire, who confirmed that the RCD had not been loaded with the mixer. They advised that the mixer could be used without the RCD. Our colleague also explained that the Priority Delivery charge and the RCD charge would be refunded at the end of the hire.
With regard to the delivery being made earlier than the original date of Saturday 23rd, our team contacted you on 20/05 to ask whether you would be able to accept delivery one day earlier. You agreed to this arrangement, and an additional day of hire was provided free of charge.
Regarding collection, we appreciate that this took longer than expected. Our agreement with the supplier is that equipment should be collected within five working days. We understand that collection was ultimately attempted on 04/06, and we have raised this delay with the supplier.
We appreciate that the delays and missing RCD caused inconvenience, and we are sorry that you were dissatisfied with the experience. We have raised the collection issue with the supplier and will continue to review the service we receive from our network partners.
We apologise again for any inconvenience caused
