Whilst the customer service staff are friendly and professional, and have done what they could to help, Medcert as a company should be avoided. They delivered at the eleventh hour, which was too late, and as such I have ended up incurring additional costs. These costs are as a direct result of their late delivery. To date they have offered no full and honest explanation for the delay. Due to the fact that Medcert are delivering a service to help its customers fulfil legal obligations, against strict deadlines, this is a problem. I would advise any one who was thinking of using Medcert to use a different platform.

I have nothing further to add to the already terrible reviews that have previously been posted.
Medcert is an absolutely shocking service and shouldn't be allowed to trade.

I ordered my certificate 5th July. Medcert received my medical records early august. Since then nothing. Repeated calls, mostly unanswered, emails mostly unanswered. When a response comes, its vague and inconclusive. Was promised the certificate in mid September within 5-7 working days Nothing. I've been told it's being chased. Then nothing. If you can find an alternative to Medcert, I strongly advise you use them as this has been a waste of £60 and a huge amount of frustration. Plus, someone, has my entire medical records and I doubt Medcert know who. Appalling.
They don't even deserve one star.

Within 10 minutes of submitting this review, an email came through once more saying my records are with a gp being prepared. (same response week after week). This after no reply to any emails.
If they get my certificate done and show some willingness to accept responsibilty for this then I'm happy to review my opinion but currently theres a sense of no care at all.

Last week following the above review, yet more empty promises that my medical certificate would be with me shortly and that it was with one of Medcert's GPs. It has supposedly been one since September.
My feeling is this may all be a scam. Take in 100 orders, process half and ignore the bleating of those who are watching their gun licence renewal date approach whilst getting zero response from Medcert. I've raised a dispute claim with my Credit Card company now and have finally tracked down a face to face private GP appointment to get this done. Last words - don't use Medcert. Appalling, with no sincere attempts to help resolve what should have been a simple chase up of a seriously late order. They just don't care.

I applied (and paid their £60 fee upfront) at the end of January and am still waiting for my certificate! Like others I have rung and left messages and emailed numerous times, but no one has responded. I was told some months ago (when they were responding) that they were waiting for the Lloyd George records from my doctors practice (apparently the Police now require this data which goes back to my birth date and is in the form of handwritten notes). The practice says it sent them, but Medcert say they were never received. One of Medcert's directors rang me to say that he had called Surrey/Sussex Police to advise them of the situation and had got their agreement to accept my medical certificate without the extra data. Since then....nothing! In the meantime, my licence has expired and I have had to relocate my guns to a friend for legal safekeeping. I reckon I now have no option other than to "bite the bullet" and use another company. Any recommendations?

I can echo the comments of Dave on the 25th October entirely. A "fast and efficient" this is definitely not.
I placed an order 31st July and still no report or meaningful/believable explanation for the delays.
Shortly after placing the order, the status changed to records requested and then did not change. After about 6 weeks I chased it only to be told they were already chasing it. Anyhow after consulting my GP admin service I found they only received the request for records on 20th Sep – after I had chased the delay with Medcert. The records were sent by my GP on the 27th September.
Then got the same problem being told Medcert had not received a password. Checked with my GP and they confirmed it was sent on the 27th Sep. Chased with Medcert and then spoke at length with the administrator at my surgery to find out what was happening – Again, without going into detail, I am pretty certain the problem lies within Medcert. Resolved eventually after my intervention and a discussion with my GP service.
My order is now sitting there saying records received and has been for about a week and a half – what does that mean? Lying in a Medcert inbox, with a GP for the report to be written?
I now can’t even get through to Medcert on the phone. I left a voice message and no one has got back to me. If I do not hear back with some positive news by the end of the month, I shall be issuing a FOI request to find out what communications have been made etc etc to try to get to the bottom of this. I suggest others do same.
Judging by the other 1 star reviews, I am sure there will be some platitudes about improving the service and blaming delays on other parties. I don’t want platitudes, I would like some action please.

Absolutey terrible service, I used this scam service on the 8th July and as yet no medical proforma, they made me go to my Drs to obtain my medical records, I was under the impression this was the service they provided so I didn't have to do it, we are now in October and still no proforma, about 2 months after making the initial order I chased up and they said they were waiting for a password from my doctors a month after receiving my records!!! (despite previously telling me it had been sent to one of their Drs for sign off)
Today I have rung to chase but on 2 separate times I've had to give up on their phone queue after 30mins !
Absolutely useless, I will never use again and I certainy warn other to steer well clear

There portal says records requested just over 3 weeks ago, my doctor says they were sent just over a week and a half ago so I’ve no idea what’s going on I’ve filled in there on line form to ask I got an automated email then nothing, left a phone message, nothing emailed there info email address nothing I’ve now been on hold for an hour and a half and still waiting >…………..

After 6 months still nothing after lots of phone calls and emails.
Just go to the doctors.

Absolutely appalling - 12 weeks it has taken to finally get my paperwork.

All they keep saying is they are extremely busy.

No correspondence from anyone unless you chase, numerous emails sent but no response, poorly run business - DO NOT USE !!!!!!

Bit of a joke. Could never get through on the phone but when I did I was more or less fobbed off. Got no replies from my emails only an acknowledgement email that they have received it and will be in touch shortly...Never did. I wont use them again. My certificate is about to run out and I have got to find someone to store my weapons for me at cost.

Do not use just a company of false and broken promises

what an absolute joke of a company . 10 months later still no medical . fobbed off on the phone emails ignored they haven't provided the service i payed for and refused to give me a refund

Always kneww that I would require a medical certificate for co-terminus licence application, GP surgery seemed luke warm, saw Medcert on the renewal letter from Glos Police. Paid the money in July, still waiting....Tried to call, tried to email, filled out online support. Nothing as per the other reviews. Can't help but wonder whether the 5* reviews are fro a different company. Now paid twice and running out of time before renewal. Have lodged chargeback for fees with bank. Strongly recommend that you don't even think about using this company.

I have never left a negative review online for anyone. But I do so here to prevent others experiencing the extraordinary waste of time and money that will inevitably come from dealing with this company. I used them last year for a shotgun renewal and they were fine; but something catastrophic has happened since then. Numerous calls, including huge waits for someone to answer, followed by nonsense excuses and several broken promises to call me back 'this afternoon'. ShotCert on the other hand quickly acquired my medical records, provided efficient, communication, and turned round my certificate in a matter of hours.

Never, ever, ever use this organisation.

They take your money quick enough, but after that they are truly useless.
42 days they had my records and did nothing with them. I finally got my report just in time to apply for my renewal.
Don't bother trying to call them, they never answer. Excuses for not answering include, moving office, staff training and the hot weather .. yep, they actually tried that one.

I had items shipped across the Atlantic from the US quicker than this bunch of clowns filled in a two page tick box report.

STAY AWAY FROM THEM

Although it took a bit longer than expected, I did get my certificate in time and was well looked after. Medcert have good knowledge of the system and even phoned the Police to check that my application was going to be accepted

Update 06/10/2023. Finally received my certificate, taking numerous daily calls and emails to achieve. Seemed to only be sorted when I threatened taking them to court. If you have 4 months to waste waiting then go ahead, but if not I strongly suggest you stuck up whatever fee your surgery quotes you.

I would give no stars if I could.

Applied in June, they received my medical records on 9th August. its now 19th September and I still haven't got my certificate. I have rung them, e-mailed, lodged a complaint and they just don't care. Had several times where the answer machine said they were closed for induction training. My Firearms Officer has phoned me several times chasing and my licence runs out today and no sight of my medical to pass over to get my renewal. Terrible company who take your money and provide a worse than useless service.

Started off with poorly functioning website that allowed me to fill in request for records, but not to place order and pay. After a very, very long wait on the phone, I spoke to someone who said that they would send me a hard copy of the request form. It arrived, and I completed it and posted it back. Ten days later, I received an email saying that they had no record of my order. After waiting over half an hour on hold to speak to someone, I left a message requesting call back. No reply by the end of the day. Given the time sensitive nature of my request, I have decided to use another firm. Having read the reviews here, I am glad that I did!

Had a brill service with excellent response times. Took a lot of the stress and worry away.

Stay away from this company !!!
