Extremely professional healthcare experience. Staff were very efficient, reassuring and caring for what can be quite an anxious time as a patient. Communication was excellent and everything was scheduled on time. I couldn't have wished for a better service from them.

I have an Cataract surgery in Midland Eye Solihull. The operation surgery is a very good. The lady is Carman Janni, her skills are excellent. I recommend this lady doctor.

I had a fantastic experience with Mr Ankur Barua and the team at Midland Eye. From my initial consultation through to treatment and aftercare, everything was handled with the utmost professionalism and care.

Mr Barua was incredibly knowledgeable and took the time to explain each step clearly, which made me feel completely at ease and confident in the process. Kate Gerrard was also brilliant—supportive, attentive, and always available to answer any questions.

The whole team created a welcoming and reassuring environment, and the level of service truly exceeded my expectations.

I cannot recommend the team at Midland Eye more highly as the process was great from start to finish. It has been nothing short of a miracle to get my sight back.

In particular I would like to acknowledge the work of Mr Barua. He is an outstanding surgeon who has amazing knowledge, understanding, experience and skill with this type of surgery. He translates complex medical language in to simple explanations to describe what Fuch's Dystropy is, and what the practical procedure will be on the day of surgery. He has a calm, caring and professional manner and is very approachable.

His support team of ophthalmologists and optometrists all added to the professional care I received. Along with Kate Gerrard Refractive Clinical Liaison who managed and co-ordinated the overall process. She has been outstanding in her approachability, ability with managing the diary and after care. An excellent team. 10/10.

In March 2026 I recently underwent an assessment for cataract treatment and had the privilege of being cared for by an exceptional consultant and a truly outstanding clinical liaison manager. From start to finish, the experience was defined by professionalism, compassion, and an unwavering commitment to patient care.
Mr Ankur Barua (consultant) reviewed all the assessment tests and demonstrated remarkable expertise, taking the time to explain every step of the process with clarity and reassurance. Their calm, confident manner immediately put me at ease. It’s rare to encounter a clinician who combines such technical excellence with genuine warmth, but they achieved both effortlessly.
Kate (refractive clinical liaison manager) was equally impressive. Kate coordinated every aspect of my care with efficiency and kindness, ensuring I felt supported and informed throughout. Nothing was ever too much trouble; they anticipated questions before I even asked them and made the entire journey seamless. Their communication was exemplary, and empathy made a real difference at a time when reassurance matters most.
Together, they delivered a standard of care that exceeded all expectations. I am deeply grateful for their skill, attentiveness, and humanity. I would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone seeking cataract treatment — they are a credit to their profession.

My experience with Midland Eye was amazing, I totally recommend them, everyone was professional, and caring, it only took 6 weeks from my first consultation to my procedure.

Had a brilliant experience from start to finish. I am very thankful to all the staff who have enabled me to see for the first time in decades without glasses. The staff are very friendly, positive, cheerful and each was very knowledgeable in their field. I had initially been recommended to Midland Eye by a family member who also had an excellent experience. I was also able to learn more about them via their website.
I was able to book a free consultation to check for laser eye eligibility. They got back to me very quickly. During the eligibility session, dry eye was identified and I was treated for this. In a follow up appointment weeks later I was able to really explore options available to me.
I was able to meet and directly speak with consultant, Mr Ankur Barua, who later also performed the eye surgery with his team. It was good to talk through what I was looking to achieve by the surgery and it was good to get to know who would be performing the surgery. The surgery went very well and there was nothing to fear from the laser or procedure as I had been well informed about what would happen both prior to the operation and just before.
I had been able to book in surgery dates with the help of Refractive Clinical Liaison Kate Gerrard, who answered all my numerous queries in good time which helped me in making my decision.
I also want to give a mention and thank you to the member of staff who went through the after surgery medications with me, there was a lot of specific instructions which were explained to me very well. Thanks again!

Excellent service from Mr Barua and Kate at Midland Eye. I had ICL surgery on both eyes. Another company had been trying to force me down the total lens replacement route for vision correction, Mr Barua was able to explain to me in plain language why this wasn’t the best solution for me and provide ICL as a better alternative. The whole process was great from start to finish. The surgical team were ace, so calm and professional, they really put me at ease. Had a textbook recovery, all went to plan, and it is nothing short of life changing for me to wake up in the morning and be able to see. Aftercare has also been very thorough. Couldn’t rate the team at Midland Eye highly enough!

Very impressed with this clinic, the staff and Aidan Murray. I had an upper blepharoplasty, chose local to ensure I had ease of access for peace of mind. This worked out well after an allergy to antibiotics which was resolved promptly. 6 months after procedure although very pleased with results there was one element I was unsure of, again seamless experience and revision procedure provided to resolve. Highly recommend Mr Murray and his surgical team. Thank you for being both kind and professional.

Very happy with treatment received.
Room for improvement in the booking process: for example, i) my NHS referral couldn't be located when I called to confirm and ii) I was told to exect 12 weeks wait time, then told after twelve weeks the wait time is actually 14 weeks.
With hindsight, I may have considered other clinics with signifianctly less wait time (for Laser YAG).

I had a great experience at Midland Eye under the care of Mr Barua. I was very nervous about having the procedure done, he was a calming presence and really put me at ease. The aftercare that he provided was excellent and I have had fantastic results. I am so pleased with the outcome and my only regret is not having it done sooner. Kate Gerrard was also great and sorting out my appointments and generally keeping me updated. If I ever needed any further treatment for my eyes I would not hesitate to book with them again.

Highly recommend Midland Eye,I have just had my second cataract done, couldn’t be better, very friendly atmosphere, made to feel at ease,lovely staff, brilliant surgeon. Tea and biscuits afterwards. 100% Positive.
